A UP MLA, his son and one other person have been booked for allegedly raping a 25-year-old singer, police said. NISHAD party MLA Vijay Mishra, who is an ally of the ruling BJP, has been accused of allegedly raping the singer in 2014 and 2015. The victim had in 2015 alleged that Mishra had called her to his house for a programme, when he raped her and threatened to kill her if she ever spoke about it. She alleged that in 2015, she was raped at a hotel in Varanasi. The victim also claimed that once after raping her, Mishra told his son and nephew to drop her home but, both of them allegedly raped her before taking her back.

Bhadohi, PTI: Three men, including NISHAD party MLA Vijay Mishra and his son, were booked on Sunday for allegedly raping a 25-year-old singer, police said.
NISHAD party is an ally of the ruling BJP.
Bhadohi Superintendent of Police Ram Badan Singh said the singer alleged that in 2014 Mishra had called her to his house for a programme, when he raped her and threatened to kill her if she ever spoke up about the incident.
She alleged that in 2015, she was raped at a hotel in Varanasi. She also claimed that once after raping her, Mishra told his son and nephew to drop her home but, both of them allegedly raped her before taking her back.
The singer lodged a complaint at Gopiganj police station on Sunday after she came to know that Mishra was lodged in Agra jail in connection with a case involving land grabbing. His wife and his son are co-accused in the case.
Mishra was shifted to Agra central jail from Chitrakoot jail around three weeks back.
In August, Vijay Mishra, his wife and son were booked on several serious charges including property grabbing on a complaint by their relative Krishna Mohan Mishra. Ramlali Mishra (wife of the MLA) is out after getting anticipatory bail from high court, while his son is absconding after his bail plea was rejected.
Mishra was arrested by the police from Madhya Pradesh and subsequently jailed.

However, as he came under attack, the minister first tempered his remarks, saying he cannot continue to wear a face mask for a long time due to a medical condition. He later apologised for his remark and promised to wear a mask for protection from Covid.&nbsp;
"I don't wear a mask in any programmes. so what?," the home minister had told reporters when they asked him why he was not wearing a mask at a function in Indore, which is the state's worst affected district.
Mr Mishra was in Indore to participate in a programme for distribution of assistance under the state government's Sambal Yojana, which provides social security cover to the poor and the SC and ST communities.
However, Mr Mishra's cabinet colleagues Tulsiram Silawat and other BJP leaders, who also attended the event, were wearing masks.
The Congress launched a pointed attack, asking are Covid-19 norms meant only for the common people.
"Is there anyone who has the courage to take action against him (Mr Mishra). Are rules only for common people?" Madhya Pradesh Congress spokesman Narendra Saluja tweeted.
As his remarks drew fire, the home minister told reporters in Bhopal, "I normally wear a mask but I can't sport it for a long time, as I am suffering from Polypus and if I wear a mask it leads to suffocation".

A three-time former lawmaker was murdered and his son critically injured over a land dispute in Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s&nbsp;Lakhimpur Kheri&nbsp;district&nbsp;on Sunday.&nbsp;The former legislator&nbsp;Nirvendra&nbsp;Kumar Mishra was&nbsp;attacked by a&nbsp;few local men near the&nbsp;Trikolia&nbsp;Padhua&nbsp;bus station&nbsp;when&nbsp;he and his son&nbsp;tried to resist a land grabbing attempt. Mishra's family members said that the men came with weapons to grab the land&nbsp;and&nbsp;alleged that UP police&nbsp;are&nbsp;in cahoots with the alleged murderers.&nbsp;Mishra&rsquo;s son is in a critical condition at a hospital.&nbsp;&nbsp;The land dispute matter is reportedly also in court.&nbsp;The 75-year-old&nbsp;politician&nbsp;had won twice as an independent candidate and once on a Samajwadi Party ticket.&nbsp;
