With the completion of her event, Chanu has fulfilled the criteria for the Paris Olympics, which is participating in two compulsory events and three other qualifiers.
The 2017 world champion is currently ranked second in the women's 49kg Olympic Qualification Ranking (OQR) behind China's Jian HuiHua.
The official announcement for the qualification will come after the conclusion of the World Cup when the OQR will be updated. The top 10 lifters from each weight class will qualify for the Paris Olympics.
Chanu, who last competed at the Asian Games in September where she suffered a hip tendonitis injury, was not at her best but was able to make five clean lifts.
Her lifts in the snatch and clean and jerk sections were nowhere close to her personal best efforts.
The 29-year-old has a personal best of 88kg in snatch while she had lifted the then-world record of 119kg in clean and jerk at the Asian Championships in 2021.
However given that she is coming off an injury and rehab, Chanu still has time to peak in July and her progress looks good.

Chanu, who has been recuperating from hip tendonitis she suffered during the Asian Games in September last year, has all but qualified for the Paris Olympics.
An appearance at the World Cup on Monday will be enough for her to seal her passage to Paris as the former world champion is ranked second in the women's 49kg Olympic Qualification Ranking (OQR) behind China's Jian HuiHua.
Under the 2024 Olympics qualification rules, the 2023 World Championships and the 2024 World Cup are compulsory events.
Apart from these two tournaments, a lifter must participate in at least three of the following events &mdash; the 2022 World Championships, the 2023 Continental Championships, the 2023 Grand Prix 1, the 2023 Grand Prix II and the 2024 Continental Championships.
Chanu has fulfilled the criteria. She competed at the 2022 World Championship and the 2023 Asian Championships, finishing second and sixth respectively.
At the 2023 Worlds and Grand Prix II, she did not heave the barbell due to her injury but completed all the necessary formalities to remain eligible for the Paris Games.
At the end of the World Cup, the top 10 lifters, who have met the criteria, will qualify for Paris in their weight category.
The best three performances at the qualifying events will be taken into account for final assessment and Chanu's came at the 2022 Worlds where she lifted a total of 200kg (87kg+113kg).
The Manipuri lifter, who has struggled with injuries in the past two years, has registered an entry weight of 185kg, far from her personal best of 207kg (88kg+119kg).
Based on that she has been placed in Group B of the competition and is unlikely to be in medal contention. The lifters who register the highest entry weight are placed in group A, followed by B and so on.
China's Huihua and Tokyo Olympic champion Hou Zhihui, who are fighting amongst themselves for a Paris berth, have entered the highest entry weight of 210kg alongside Ri Song Gum of North Korea.
The last time Chanu competed was at the Asian Games where her campaign ended in agony. The two-time Commonwealth Games champion suffered a dramatic fall on her back while attempting a clean and jerk lift, leading to her hip injury. She had to be carried out of the platform.
Coming off a long injury layoff, the 29-year-old is unlikely to attempt the much-awaited 90kg snatch lift or improve her clean and jerk effort.
"She is coming back from an injury, we will take it slow. She has already qualified so no point stretching her here. We want her to peak at the right time," head coach Vijay Sharma told PTI.
Chanu, who struggles with a back issue that affects her snatch, has been trying to breach the 90kg-mark since 2020.
Commonwealth Games silver medallist Bindyarani Devi is the other Indian in the fray. However, she is competing in the 55kg event, which is a non-Olympic weight class.

Former world champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu's proposal to train in Paris ahead of the Olympic Games was on Monday cleared by the government.

The 29-year-old Chanu, who competes in the 49kg category, will be accompanied by two coaches and a physiotherapist.
The government will bear the cost for air tickets, visa fees, accommodation, food, training, local transport and medical insurance among other expenditures under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).
The Mission Olympic Cell also cleared the proposals of equestrian exponent Anush Agarwalla to compete in eight competitions and buy equipment for his horses.
"TOPS will cover his and his coach's accommodation costs, entry fees, two horse feed costs, coach fees, and horse grooms costs among other expenditures." Judoka Asmita Dey and shooter Arjun Singh Cheema's request for financial assistance were also cleared.
"MOC also approved judoka Asmita Dey's proposal for financial assistance to participate in Grand Prix, Austria and shooter Arjun Singh Cheema's request for financial assistance towards participation in ISAS Dortmund competition," said the statement.
The request for financial assistance by ace Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal for participation in two international competitions along with expenditure for his support staff was also approved by MOC.
"The other proposals approved by MOC during the meeting were financial assistance towards hiring of video analyst for badminton players Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, extension of contract for weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga's physiotherapist and financial assistance towards buying equipment for track athlete Amoj Jacob," the statement added.

India have won 18 medals in shooting so far, their best-ever haul in the sport at the Asian Games.
Weightlifting events will also begin on September 30, with Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu making her Asian Games debut in the Women's 49kg category. All of India will be hoping for Mirabai to replicate her heroics from the Tokyo Games in Hangzhou. Along with Chanu, Bindyarani Devi will feature in the Women's 55kg category.

Olympic silver medallist weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has made a heartfelt appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to bring an end to the ongoing conflict between two communities in her home state of Manipur at the earliest.
Since May 3, Manipur has been engulfed in ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities, resulting in the loss of over 150 lives.
Chanu, who is currently training in the USA, expressed concern about the impact of the conflict on athletes in the northeastern state, as they are unable to train due to the prevailing situation.
In a video shared on her Twitter handle, Chanu stated, "The conflict in Manipur is going to complete three months but peace is yet to return. Many players have not been able to train because of this conflict and there has been disturbance in the study of students. Many lives have been lost and many houses have been burnt down."
She further appealed to the Prime Minister and Home Minister to swiftly resolve the conflict and restore peace to Manipur, as it was before. Despite being far away, Chanu emphasized that she couldn't help but think about the situation in her home state.
"I have my house in Manipur though I am currently training in the USA to prepare for the upcoming World Championships and Asian Games. Even though I am not in Manipur, I always think about when this conflict will end," she expressed.
The ethnic clashes erupted following a 'Tribal Solidarity March' on May 3, organized in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
Manipur's population comprises approximately 53% Meiteis, primarily residing in the Imphal Valley, while the remaining 40% consists of tribals such as Nagas and Kukis, who predominantly live in the hill districts.

Mirabai Chanu made India proud on Saturday by winning the country's first gold media of the 2022 Commonweath Games that are being held in Birmingham. 
On Sunday, the champion weightlifter shared a video on her Twitter account of her family celebrating her win with a traditional Manipur dance.

On Saturday, the down to earth champion continued to win hearts even after her performance as she stayed back at theweightlifting arena and met her supporters.

Mirabai Chanu bossed the 49kg field as expected to defend her Commonwealth Games title and give India the first gold medal of the Birmingham edition here on Saturday.
The Olympic silver medallist aggregated 201kg (88kg + 113kg ) to stamp her authority in the competition and achieve a Commonwealth Games record in the process.
The silver went to Mauritius' Marie Hanitra Roilya Ranaivosoa (172kg) and bronze to Canada's Hannah Kaminski (171 kg).
In a remarkable performance, Chanu smashed the Commonwealth and CWG record in snatch. She obliterated the Games record in clean and jerk as well as total lift.
An overwhelming favourite in her weight category, the 27-year-old Chanu set a rather low starting weight of 80kg in snatch and 105kg in clean and jerk before changing her first attempt to 84kg.
Going into the competition, she had a personal best of 88kg and 119kg, a world record in clean and jerk, totalling 207kg.

Mirabai Chanu bossed the 49kg field as expected to defend her Commonwealth Games title and give India the first gold medal of the Birmingham edition here on Saturday.
The Olympic silver medallist aggregated 201kg (88kg + 113kg ) to stamp her authority in the competition and achieve a Commonwealth Games record in the process.
The silver went to Mauritius' Marie Hanitra Roilya Ranaivosoa (172kg) and bronze to Canada's Hannah Kaminski (171 kg).
In a remarkable performance, Chanu smashed the Commonwealth and CWG record in snatch. She obliterated the Games record in clean and jerk as well as total lift.
An overwhelming favourite in her weight category, the 27-year-old Chanu set a rather low starting weight of 80kg in snatch and 105kg in clean and jerk before changing her first attempt to 84kg.
Going into the competition, she had a personal best of 88kg and 119kg, a world record in clean and jerk, totalling 207kg.

Only 10 candidates filed nominations for the same number of seats in the Athletes Commission and Umesh Sinha, who is also the returning officer of the upcoming IOA elections, declared all of them elected unopposed.

In a historic first, Sharath Kamal, MC Mary Kom, PV Sindhu, Gagan Narang have been named in Indian Olympic Association's first-ever 10-member Athletes commission. 

Only 10 candidates filed nominations for the same number of seats in the Athletes Commission and Umesh Sinha, who is also the returning officer of the upcoming IOA elections, declared all of them elected unopposed.

It was a historic moment for the Indian athletes as the Indian Olympic Association announced the nation's first-ever athletes commission. The 10-member commission has 5 male and 5 female members as per the rules.&nbsp; Rani Rampal, MC Mary Kom, Gagan Narang, OP Karahana, Shiva Keshavan, PV Sindhu, Bhavani Devi, Mirabai Chanu, Bajrang Lal Thakkar and Sharath Kamal were elected after the polls. In order to maximise India's medal chances at <a href="https://www.editorji.com/sports-news/others-sports/commonwealth-games-2022-boxer-amit-panghal-eyes-improved-show-in-birmingham-1657734084979" target="_blank">CWG 2022</a>, the Tokyo Games silver medallist was hoping to compete in the 55-kg category this time around but her entry was rejected after a change in rules by the International Weightlifting Federation.
She had qualified for the Birmingham Games in the 55-kg weight division after winning Gold at the Singapore Weightlifting competition. However, she will now compete in the 49-kg category which saw her take silver at the Tokyo Olympics last year.
Before moving to the 49-kg category, Mirabai used to compete in the 48-kg division. She won a world championship Gold, a CWG Silver as well as Gold in the 48-kg category.

Ace Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu who won the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 event last year has qualified for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022 after winning gold at the Singapore Weightlifting International on Friday. The 27-year-old Olympic medallist who qualified for the 55 kg weight class category was fighting in the said category for the first time. She lifted 191 kg, (86kgs in Snatch and 105 kg in Clean and Jerk.Australian weightlifter Jessica Sewastenko who was placed 2nd lifted 167 kgs, 24 kgs less than the Manipur-based athlete. Malaysia's Elly Cassandra Englebert was 3rd with 165 kgs. Chanu who had pulled out of the world championship was participating in the first event after winning her silver medal in Tokyo. She has also qualified for the 49kg weight category on the basis of her CWG rankings. The mega event which will be held in Birmingham will begin on 28th July, this year.

Ace Indian weightlifter Mirabai&nbsp;Chanu who won the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 event last year has qualified for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022 after winning gold at the Singapore Weightlifting International on Friday. The 27-year-old Olympic medallist who qualified for the 55 kg weight class&nbsp;category was fighting in the said category for the first time. She lifted 191 kg, (86kgs in Snatch and&nbsp;105 kg in Clean and Jerk.
