Corporatisation of Ordnance Factories

The Government on September 11 has set up an Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for corporatisation of the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB). Other ministers in the EGoM are the Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Law &amp; Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of State for Labour &amp; Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Minister of State for Personal, Public Grievance &amp; Pensions Jitendra Singh. The EGoM is to oversee and guide the entire process, including deciding on conversion of OFB into a single Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU) or as multiple DPSUs, matters related to various categories of employees including transition support and redeployment plan of employees, &nbsp;protection of their salary and pension of existing employees and treatment for land assets of OFB.

Without missing any opportunity, Rahul&nbsp;Gandhi once again took a dig at the Centre over the India-China border standoff. In his latest tweet, the Congressman yet again taunted the centre as he explored the LAC chronology, mocking Home Minister Shah who had first used the now-popular 'Chronology phrase' last year. Rahul&nbsp;wrote, "PM said no one entered the&nbsp;border...Then took a huge loan from China-based bank.. then, defence minister said China had encroached ..Now, Minister of State for Home said no infiltration."&nbsp;Rahul&nbsp;went on to ask 'Is Modi&nbsp;govt with Indian army or with China?' The sneering remark&nbsp;referred to PM Modi's June comment where he clarified that no one had intruded the Indian borders and to&nbsp;a reported $750 million&nbsp;loan taken by the government from a Beijing&nbsp;backed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in June.&nbsp;

The Union Home Ministry in a written response &nbsp;to a question from BJP Rajya Sabha member said on Wednesday that no infiltration has been reported along the India-China border in the last six months even as tensions mount in the Ladakh region. The answer also listed the infiltration attempts on India&rsquo;s border with Pakistan. Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai&rsquo;s response attempted to establish that that India has firmly held on to its positions at the LAC.&nbsp; Defence Minister Rajnath said on Tuesday in the parliament that China doesn't recognise the traditional and customary alignment of the boundary and that &lsquo;the perception of LAC is different for countries&rsquo;

New Delhi, PTI: Images sent by India's first lunar mission Chandrayaan-1 suggest that the Moon may be rusting along the poles, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Sunday. "The sign of this finding is that even though the surface of the Moon is known to have iron-rich rocks, it is not known for the presence of water and oxygen, which are the two elements needed to interact with iron to create rust," Singh, who is the Minister of State for the Department of Space, said. The Chandrayaan-1 Moon data indicates that the Moon's poles are home to water, this is what the scientists are trying to decipher.

Chandrayaan-1 was launched in 2008.
"ISRO's maiden mission to the Moon has sent images which show that the Moon may be rusting along the poles.
"The sign of this finding is that even though the surface of the Moon is known to have iron-rich rocks, it is not known for the presence of water and oxygen, which are the two elements needed to interact with iron to create rust," said Mr Singh, who is the Minister of State for the Department of Space.
Scientists at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) say that this could be because the Earth's atmosphere is lending a helping hand which, in other words, means that the Earth''s atmosphere could be protecting the Moon as well, the statement said.
"The Chandrayaan-1 Moon data indicates that the Moon's poles are home to water, this is what the scientists are trying to decipher," the statement added.
