A recent study published in the journal, Sleep stated that wearing an eye mask while sleeping helps being more alert the next day.
The researchers found that blocking out as much light as possible boosts a person's alertness the following day.&nbsp;
The experts from Cardiff University conducted a series of experiments involving a total of 124 volunteers who were asked to sleep with and without eye mask for the same number of days to record their experience.&nbsp;
The participants took 3 tests to measure brain power and in the first 2 tests it was revealed that people performed better on cognitive and reaction time exercises during the week they wore eye masks. Though eye mask had no effect on the third test to examine motor-skill learning.
The team also noticed that masks helped people to spend more time during the deepest phase of sleep which is believed to be important for processing new information and strengthening memory.

During and post the pandemic, masks have become a part of our lives and sometimes it gets difficult even for adults to recognise an acquaintance at a public place. But a recent study has revealed that babies remember faces inspite of masks.
The study was done by researchers at University of California and it was found that 6 to 9 months old babies memorise masked faces and recognise them even when they see them without masks.&nbsp;
58 babies were made to sit on laps or high chairs and were shown masked and unmasked faces on computer screens. Cameras recorded their reactions from which the team could derive which faces they recognised and which ones they didn&rsquo;t.

The DDMA is likely to discuss making face masks mandatory again, as per news agency PTI.&nbsp;Weeks earlier, Delhi had removed the fine imposed on people for not wearing masks.&nbsp;The issue of hybrid mode of offline and online classes in schools is also likely to be discussed.
Masks have already been made mandatory by Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in districts bordering Delhi, as per reports.

American tech company Razer had introduced the high tech &lsquo;Hazel&rsquo; face masks at CES earlier this year as a concept. Now, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan has told Yahoo Finance that the masks will actually go into production. Expected to be as effective as an N95 mask due to its airtight nature, the Razer Hazel will feature detachable ventilators that Razer claims can filter up to 95% of airborne particles. The smart mask comes with a charging case that also sterilises the surface while charging. The mask also offers a built-in mic and speaker which can amplify the user&rsquo;s voice, along with customisable RGB lighting and a transparent design. Razer has not given any details about availability or pricing yet.
