Sisodia architect of conspiracy: court while rejecting AAP leader's bail plea

A Delhi court on Friday dismissed a bail plea of incarcerated former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case lodged by the CBI, saying prima facie the AAP leader is the architect of the criminal conspiracy in the matter.&nbsp;
The court said his release may adversely impact the ongoing investigation and "seriously hamper" its progress.
Special Judge MK Nagpal, who had reserved order on the AAP leader's bail plea on March 24, said he was not inclined to release him at this stage.&nbsp;
Sisodia had earlier sought bail saying he was neither a flight risk nor the CBI found anything incriminating against him in its probe into the alleged irregularities relating to the excise policy.&nbsp;
His lawyer had said the policy was formulated "purely in the normal course".

Delhi liquor probe: ED 'arrests' incarcerated AAP leader Manish Sisodia after grilling in Tihar jail

Incarcerated Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia has been reportedly arrested by the Enforcement Directorate before his bail hearing in the Delhi liquor policy case comes up in a Central Bureau of Investigation court.
The Enforcement Directorate arrested Sisodia after questioning him for two days over alleged money laundering while framing the new liquor policy. Sisodia was earlier arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation and was languishing in Delhi's Tihar jail.&nbsp; Sisodia, has been seeking bail from the CBI court. Reports said the Aam Aadmi leader will be be produced in a court by the Enforcement Directorate on March 10, which is the same day his bail hearing in the case involving CBI probe is likely to come up.

&nbsp;Veteran BJP leader and former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Shanta Kumar on Wednesday lauded AAP leader Manish Sisodia for his "clean image" but suggested that he might be &ldquo;collecting money&rdquo; for his party to fight elections.
Sisodia was arrested Sunday over alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.
In remarks that could embarrass his own party, Shanta Kumar said the AAP formed its government in the national capital &ldquo;right under the nose of the BJP government at the Centre&rdquo;, after badly defeating the ruling party.
He said the AAP government worked for five years and then came back to power, calling it a &ldquo;big achievement.&rdquo; Sisodia became well known as a deputy chief minister with a clean image who did "commendable work", and is now in jail, the BJP leader said, according to a statement posted on Facebook.
Shanta Kumar said there have been charges and counter charges from both sides. It is also difficult to imagine that Sisodia may have been put in jail by the CBI without having committed any crime, he added.
He said the AAP leader is being accused of framing a liquor policy that brought profits to traders.

&ldquo;In my opinion this is the truth, and if this is the truth, the country very seriously needs to take some new decisions,&rdquo; he said in Hindi.
He argued that political parties take money from big business people, who make up for the amount through corruption with the help of the government that come to power.
After elections, the winning candidates file false expenditure accounts with the Election Commission, he charged. &ldquo;How can everything be well in a country where democracy begins with black money and lies,&rdquo; he said.
