Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday said Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar is undeterred by the split in his party and can start afresh.
In a day of massive political developments, Ajit Pawar was sworn in as deputy chief minister in the Eknath Shinde government along with several of his colleagues.
In a tweet, Raut said, "I just spoke with NCP Sharad Pawar. He said he is firm and people's support is behind us. We can make a fresh start with Uddhav Thackeray.&rdquo; Raut said people of Maharashtra will not tolerate such a "circus", an apparent reference to government formation through vertical splits in political parties, for long.
"Some people seem to be determined to completely spoil Maharashtra's politics. Let them proceed on their chosen path," said Raut, in an apparent reference to Ajit Pawar, CM Shinde and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The iconic Air India buiding at Mumbai's Nariman Point is set to be acquired by the Maharashtra government. According to reports, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led government will buy the iconic building for ₹1600 crore. Debt-ridden Air India had floated tenders for the sale of the 23-storey building, in which the state government, the Centre-owned Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India were the bidders. In 2019, the state bid ₹1400 crore for AI, while JNPA ₹1375 crore and LIC ₹1200 crore. After the Eknath Shinde-led government assumed office in June, 2022, the state government revised the bid to ₹1600 crore against AI&rsquo;s ask of ₹2000 crore. The Nariman Point building was put up for sale in 2018 as part of asset-monetisation plans. The State Bank of India recently vacated a few floors it occupied.The building measures 4.99 lakh sq feet and has two basements and a tunnel.

The Shiv Sena rebels who are now camping in Assam have a clear message for their party boss Uddhav Thackery: they are upset with the style of function of the NCP and Congress, the other two ruling alliance partners in the state.
The Shiv Sena MLAs, who have rebelled against the party, plunging the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra into a crisis, arrived in Assam's Guwahati city by a chartered flight on Wednesday.
Speaking to a TV channel over phone, Maharashtra minister Sandipan Bhumare, who is among the dissidents, said, "We do not have any complaints against the Shiv Sena leadership. We have raised our complaints with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, that it was getting difficult to work with the NCP and Congress ministers. It was very difficult for us to get our proposals and work requests approved from their ministers.” To a query, Bhumare said he was given a cabinet portfolio and was satisfied with it.
"What else do I need in life. But, as a people's representative, I need to address the grievances of my people. I could not do it properly because of these two alliance partners,” he added.
Meanwhile, another dissident Sena MLA Sanjay Shirsath told a TV channel that 35 party legislators were in Guwahati.
"A couple of more MLAs will join us by today evening. We also have the support of three independent MLAs,” he claimed. Shirsath also targeted state NCP and Congress ministers and claimed their "hostile behaviour" forced the Sena legislators to revolt.(PTI INPUTS)

Curtailing the central probe agency&rsquo;s powers to probe cases in the state, the Maharashtra government on Wednesday withdrew the 'general consent' granted to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The probe agency will now have to approach the Uddhav government for permission to initiate the investigation on a case by case basis. The development comes a after the CBI registered an FIR in the TRP &lsquo;scam&rsquo; case based on a reference from the Uttar Pradesh Police. The case, which was earlier registered at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow on a complaint of an advertising company promoter, was handed over to the CBI by the UP government. On October 8, the Mumbai police had claimed it had busted a 'racket' of 'fraudulent' manipulation of Television Rating Points involving three channels including Arnab Goswami&rsquo;s Republic TV.

Shocked by tone of Maha Governor's letter to CM: Pawar to Modi

PTI,&nbsp;Mumbai:&nbsp;NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing shock over the kind of language used by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over reopening places of worship amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his letter to Modi, the Rajya Sabha MP, whose party is a key ally in the Shiv Sena-led MVA government, said he was pained by the erosion of standards of conduct by the high Constitutional office of the Honourable Governor.
In the letter to the chief minister on reopening of temples, Koshyari had asked, "Have you suddenly turned secular, the term you hated?" Pawar said the Prime Minister had given very appropriate slogan of do gaj ki doori to curb the spread of COVID-19 and added the Maharashtra government is also planning a campaign to make people aware of the importance of social distancing.
The former Union minister referred to the huge crowds some temples in the state like that of Lord Vitthal in Pandhapur, Siddhivinayak in Mumbai, Sai Baba in Shirdi and others, witness on normal days.
In such places, it is almost impossible to maintain safe distance between people. Keeping this in view, the Government of Maharashtra had decided to stagger the decision regarding opening up of places of worship, Pawar said.
The NCP patriarch said he agreed the Governor can have independent views and opinion on the sensitive issue and appreciated the latters prerogative to convey his views to the chief minister.
However, I am shocked and surprised to see the letter of the Governor released to the media and the kind of language used in the letter, Pawar said.
The veteran politician said separately on Twitter that the kind of language used in the letter does not behove well for a person who holds a constitutional position.
The NCP president said he is sure the prime minister, too, would have noticed the intemperate language used in the Governors letter.
Pawar said the word secular is part of the Preamble of the Constitution and it shields all religions.
Hence, the Chair of the Chief Minister must uphold such tenets of the Constitution, he said.
Unfortunately, Hon. Governors letter to the Chief Minister invokes the connotation as if written to the leader of a political party.
I firmly believe that in a democracy, free exchange of views between the Hon. Governor and the Hon. Chief Minister must take place.
However, the tone and tenor used must always be in keeping with the stature of the constitutional post occupied by the individuals, Pawar said.
The veteran leader said that looking at the turn of events, the chief minister was left with no option but to release his reply to the Governor in the press.
Pawar said he fully endorsed the chief ministers decision on this issue.
