The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) (non-political) on Monday called for a one-day 'mahapanchayat' at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar where hundreds of farmers from different states across the country are reaching amid heavy security arrangements.
The SKM, however, did not receive permission to protest at Jantar Mantar till the time of filing this story.
The panchayat, which is scheduled to be held from 11 AM to 4 PM, will submit a memorandum to the President of India after its conclusion.
While the farmers are primarily protesting against unemployment, they also have a list of demands that they plan on discussing.

What are the farmers demanding?
<ul>
<li>Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the outstanding compensation of the farmers should be released immediately.&nbsp;</li>
<li>MSP should be guaranteed as per the Swaminathan Commission report on &ldquo;C2+50% formula&rdquo;, and as promised a law should be made to guarantee MSP.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Justice to the farmers' families who lost their loved ones in the Lakhimpur Kheri "massacre" and release of the farmers who are in jail for the last nine months. The arrest of Union minister Ajay Mishra Teni, the &ldquo;main culprit of the massacre&rdquo;.&nbsp;</li>
<li>All the farmers of the country should be made debt free.</li>
<li>Electricity Amendment Bill, 2022 should be cancelled.</li>
<li>Support price of sugarcane should be increased and cane arrears should be paid immediately.&nbsp;</li>
<li>India should come out of the WTO and cancel all free trade agreements.&nbsp;</li>
<li>All the cases registered during the farmers' movement should be withdrawn.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Agneepath scheme should be withdrawn.&nbsp;</li>

Delhi Police has stepped up security, put up barricades and deployed personnel at the Delhi-Haryana border ahead of farmers’ call to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar in the capital on Monday.
The protest is scheduled for Monday at Jantar Mantar in the national capital for which the farmers have started to arrive in the city.
The police have beefed up security at Delhi’s Singhu border, which was one of the protest sites at the farmers protest in 2020. The police have also put up cemented barricades, tightened security at Tikri border, where farmers have start arriving from outside Delhi.
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Apolitical) has called for a ‘mahapanchayat’ at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Monday, which is expected to be attended by farmers from different states. However, Delhi Police said it has denied permission for the protest.

Security was beefed up on Monday at Delhi borders, including Singhu and Ghazipur, ahead of the 'mahapanchayat' called by farmers' body at Jantar Mantar, police said on Monday.
They said all vehicles entering the capital are being checked and police personnel are on the 'alert mode'.
Traffic movement may be affected in many parts of Delhi as the police have put up barricades at border points, they said.
In a tweet, the police asked motorists to avoid Tolstoy Marg, Sansad Marg, Janpath Road, Ashoka Road, Outer Circle Connaught Place, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Pandit Pant Marg due to farmers' mahapanchayat.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha and other farmers' groups are organising the congregation and they will pass through outer district, which includes Ghazipur border in Ghaziabad, officials said.
"In this connection, adequate deployment of local police and outside force has been made in outer district at Tikri border, major intersections, along railway tracks and metro stations to avoid any untoward incident," a police official said.

Thousands of farmers gathered at Muzaffarnagar for a &lsquo;Kisan Mahapanchayat&rsquo; made it abundantly clear that they will campaign against the BJP in Uttar Pradesh for the 2022 assembly polls.
Samyukt Kisan Morcha, the organisers of the event said that the mahapanchayat will make the Modi and Yogi governments realise the power of farmers, farm labourers, and supporters of the farm movement.
Bhartiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait said that the they had to &lsquo;save the country from getting sold&rsquo;.&nbsp;
The farmers also declared an all-India strike, a bandh on September 27th.

The Gurugram police have filed an FIR against a teenager for allegedly making provocative comments at a mahapanchayat held in Pataudi on July 4.
The teenager had allegedly opened fire at a group of anti-CAA protesters in Jamia in Delhi last year also.
The FIR has been registered based on a complaint submitted by a resident of Jamalpur village in Gurugram.&nbsp;
In his speech at the mahapanchayat, the teenager allegedly called for attacks on the Muslim community.
The teenager had also encouraged the crowd to abduct Muslim women and "warned" those with a "terrorist mindset" that if he can "go to Jamia in support of CAA", "Pataudi is not very far for him".
