A case has been registered against BJP candidate K Madhavi Latha for asking burqa-clad women to show their faces so that she can match it with their voter IDs.&nbsp;

BJP candidate from Hyderabad, Kompella Madhavi Latha has landed in trouble for asking burqa-clad women at a polling booth to show their faces so that she can match them with their voter ID cards. The video of the same went viral. Soon after that, police registered a case against her in Malakpet Police station.&nbsp;
A case has been registered under sections 171C, 186, 505(1)(c) of IPC and Section 132 of the Representation of the People Act.
Madhavi Latha is up against the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi.&nbsp;
While speaking about the incident, Madhavi Latha told the news agency ANI that a candidate has the right to check voter ID cards.
She further said, "I am a candidate. As per law, a candidate has the right to check ID cards without facemasks. I am not a man, I am a woman and with a lot of humility, I requested them. If somebody wants to make a big issue out of it, it means they are scared."

K Madhavi Latha, BJP candidate from Hyderabad constituency was seen checking voters IDs of citizens in a polling booth on May 13. &nbsp;As social media users came across this video, they questioned Madhavi Latha by asking, "who gave her the right to check people's ID like this?"
One of the internet users commented, "Who authorised her to verify voters?"
Another user reacted, "Who gave her authority to go inside the polling station and check citizens I'd card ???"

A video went viral that showed Latha gesturing to shoot an arrow towards a place of worship during Ram Navami procession on April 17.

An FIR has been registered against the BJP's Hyderabad candidate K Madhavi Latha following a complaint that she hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community by gesturing to shoot an arrow towards a place of worship, police said.
A purported video of the incident was widely circulated on social media last week.
The complaint alleged that Madhavi Latha made a gesture of drawing an arrow and shooting it at the place of worship during a Ram Navami procession on April 17, hurting the sentiments of the Muslim community, the police said on Sunday.
The case was registered on April 20 under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code, they said.
After the clip went viral, Madhavi Latha said in a post on X that it had come to her notice that an incomplete video of her was being circulated to create negativity.
"I would like to clarify that it's an incomplete video and even because of such video if any one's sentiments are hurt then I would like to apologise as I respect all individuals," she had said.
