The Uttar Pradesh government has decided relax restrictions in view of the declining Covid-19 cases. After nearly two months, the government said all malls and restaurants can open with 50 per cent capacity on weekdays till 9 pm. It also allowed shops and markets outside containment zones to open five days a week.
Curfew timings have also been relaxed by two hours on weekdays. It will now be in force from 9 pm to 7 am. Weekend lockdown, however, will continue in Uttar Pradesh.
The UP government has also allowed the government and private offices to work at full capacity.
Cinema halls, stadiums, gyms, and swimming pools, schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will remain closed.
Number of people at functions and other religious places has been capped at 50.

The Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) on Tuesday called for a time-bound and impartial investigation into the reported custodial torture and death of the 18-year old vegetable seller, at the hands of UP police in Unnao district.
CCTV camera footage&nbsp; revealed that Faisal Hussain was slapped and dragged to the Bangarmau police station on May 21 for allegedly violating the state lockdown. The post mortem report noted severe injuries on Hussain&rsquo;s back, chest, ear and hands and attributed the cause of death to a head injury.
An FIR has been registered against suspended police constables and home guard charging them with murder.
CHRI urged the UP Director General of Police to ensure prompt and impartial investigation in the criminal case and said &nbsp;&lsquo;any delay or failure to take firm action against the concerned police personnel will only add to the injustice suffered by Hussain&rsquo;s family&rsquo;.

The statewide curfew will remain in effect till 7 am on May 31. Vaccinations, industrial activity, essential services and movement related to medical emergencies have been exempted.
Addressing a press conference in Kanpur, UP CM Adityanath claimed the second wave of Covid in the state will be contained by May 30. Adityanath urged officials to prohibit large gatherings and appealed to people to adhere to Covid-appropriate behaviour. He also said steps are being taken to improve the pace of vaccinations in June.
