Two women were arrested after they threw soup at a glass-protected Mona Lisa painting at a Paris museum, in a bid to draw attention to farmers' protest &nbsp;

Two protesters threw soup at a glass protecting the Mona Lisa painting at the Louvre Museum in Paris. They also shouted slogans advocating for a sustainable food system in France.
Sunday's incident came amidst protests by farmers against several issues, including low wages.
A video showed two women skillfully overtaking a security barrier to get closer to the 16th-century painting and the liquid at the glass protecting Leonardo da Vinci&rsquo;s masterpiece.
&ldquo;What&rsquo;s the most important thing?&rdquo; they shouted. &ldquo;Art, or right to a healthy and sustainable food?&rdquo;
"Your agricultural system is sick. Our farmers are dying at work," they added.
Paris police later arrested both women.
The incident was later claimed by a group called Riposte Alimentaire (Food Counterattack).
In a statement posted to X, formerly Twitter, it said the protest was part of efforts to integrate "food into the general social security system".
It said that the current food model "stigmatises the most precarious and does not respect our fundamental right to food".
The group also demanded that a food card worth &euro;150 (&pound;128) to be given to citizens each month to be used on food.
On its website, the &ldquo;Food Riposte&rdquo; group said the French government is breaking its climate commitments and called for the equivalent of the country&rsquo;s state-sponsored health care system to be put in place to give people better access to healthy food while providing farmers a decent income.
Meanwhile, in the last few days, angry French farmers have been using their tractors to set up road blockades and slow traffic across France to seek better remuneration for their produce, less red tape and protection against cheap imports, reports AP news agency. They also dumped stinky agricultural waste at the gates of government offices.

Some Italian doctors suggest that Leonardo da Vinci could have experienced nerve damage in a fall, impeding his ability to paint in later life.
They diagnosed ulnar palsy, or "claw hand", by analysing the depiction of his right hand in two recent artworks. It had been suggested that Leonardo's hand impairment was caused by a stroke. But according to the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, the doctors suggest it was nerve damage that meant he could no longer hold a palette and brush.
But art historians have always debated which hand he used to draw and paint with.
Analysis of his drawing suggests left-handedness but most historical biographical documents indicate that he used his right hand when he was creating other kinds of work.

Leonardo Da Vinci's tuft of hair went on display on Thursday. It was showcased at an exhibition called 'Leonardo Vive'  spanning two new museums in the artist's birthplace of Vinci in Tuscany. 
Experts are hoping to resolve the mystery around the lock of hair believed to be that of the Renaissance artist, and maybe even sequence his DNA. The lock of hair along with a ring were recovered during the 1863 searches for Leonardo's tomb. 
The documents displayed at the museums celebrating the artist indicate that the official commissioned to search for the tomb kept two relics for himself: a lock of the master's hair and a bronze ring found on Da Vinci's finger. 
Another important piece of art that went on display at the exhibition was "The Naked Gioconda", a portrait of a semi-nude woman which has now been attributed to Da Vinci's studio.

Martin Clayton was researching an exhibition for The Queen's Gallery in London when he identified the sketch as a study of Leonardo made by an unidentified assistant shortly before the master's death in 1519.  The sketch will be showcased for the first time in the largest display of Da Vinci's work in more than 65 years from 24 May to 13 October at the Queen's Gallery in Buckingham Palace.

Ahead of Leonardo Da Vinci's 500th death anniversary, two Italian experts are set to perform a DNA test on a lock of hair that they say might have belonged to the legendary artist. 
The hair strand was found in a private collection in the US and will go on display for the first time at the Ideale Leonardo da Vinci museum in Vinci from 2nd May. 
This extraordinary relic will allow the experts to carry out research on Da Vinci’s DNA. The lock will also be presented at a press conference.
