The charges of corruption against former Bihar chief minister Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi in the land-for-jobs case relates to alleged appointments made in the railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold to Yadav's family when he was the minister of railways between 2004 and 2009.
The charge sheet was filed on October 10, 2022 for offences of criminal conspiracy and corruption against 16 accused persons.
The final report also named Prasad's daughter Misa Bharti, former general manager of Central Railway Sowmya Raghavan, former CPO Railways Kamal Deep Mainrai, seven aspirants appointed as substitutes and four private individuals.
It was alleged in the FIR that some persons, although residents of Patna in Bihar, were appointed as substitutes in Group-D posts during the period 2004-2009 in different zones of the railways located in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hajipur and in lieu thereof, the individuals themselves or their family members transferred their land in the name of family members of Prasad and a company, AK Infosystems Private Limited, which was subsequently taken over by the family members of Prasad.
It was further alleged that about 1,05,292 sq. ft. land situated in Patna was acquired by the family members of Prasad from those persons through five sale deeds and two gift deeds and in most of the sale deeds, payment to the sellers was mentioned to be paid in cash.
The value of the land as per existing circle rate was about Rs 4.39 crore.
The land which was directly purchased by the family members of Prasad from the sellers at a rate lower than the prevalent circle rate. The prevalent market value of the land was much higher than the circle rate.
It was alleged that the due procedure and guidelines issued by the railway authority for the appointment of substitutes was not followed and later on, their services had also been regularised.&nbsp;

We (the Grand alliance) will wipe out BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha and 2025 assembly polls," a frail-looking Prasad, who recently returned to the country earlier this month after a successful kidney transplant surgery in Singapore, said.

Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Roshni to donate kidney to her father

The RJD president, who has been suffering from multiple health problems, was advised a kidney transplant.

Ailing Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) patriarch Lalu Yadav&rsquo;s Singapore-based daughter will donate a kidney to her father, a close family member said.
Yadav, 74, returned last month from Singapore where he had gone for treatment of his kidney problems.
The RJD president, who has been suffering from multiple health problems, was advised a kidney transplant.
His daughter Roshni Acharya, based in Singapore, has stepped in to give her father a new lease of life, a family member told PTI.

Yadav, who is currently in Delhi, is out on bail. He has been jailed for his involvement in fodder cases and has been hospitalised several times in Delhi and Ranchi for treatment.
It is not clear where the kidney transplant surgery will happen and when.

The election for the 243-seat Bihar assembly is being held in 3 phases &ndash; 71 constituencies will vote in the first phase on October 28, 94 seats will go to polls in the second phase on November 3 and third phase on November 7 will cover 78 assembly seats. The ballots will be counted on November 10. &nbsp;
Around 7.29 crore people including nearly 78 lakh first-time voters will decide the fate of political stalwarts like Nitish Kumar and as well as that of rising sons like Tejashwi Yadav and Chirag Paswan. &nbsp;
Alliances have changed since the last Bihar assembly elections in 2015 which saw the RJD, JD(U) and Congress combine come to power. However, Nitish Kumar walked out of this grand alliance in 2017 to return to the BJP-led NDA fold. He continued as the Chief Minister but BJP&rsquo;s Sushil Kumar Modi replaced RJD&rsquo;s Tejashwi Yadav as the Deputy Chief Minister. &nbsp;
2020 might be the younger Yadav scion&rsquo;s year of vengeance as he takes the field as the chief ministerial candidate of the Congress-RJD Mahagathbandhan. The RJD has bagged the lion&rsquo;s share and will be contesting 144 seats, Congress 70 seats and the CPI-ML, CPI and CPI(M) will be contesting a total of 29 seats. The grand alliance is however a few allies short with Vikasheel Insaan Party and former CM Jiten Manjhi&rsquo;s Hindustani Awam Morcha quitting the alliance and joining NDA. &nbsp;
The ruling coalition may have gained 2 allies but it lost 1 very important ally with Lok Janshakti Party led by late Ram Vilas Paswan&rsquo;s son Chirag Paswan deciding to party ways with NDA in Bihar over differences with Nitish Kumar. While the LJP will fight the polls alone, it will field candidates only against JD(U) and not the BJP.&nbsp;
The saffron party is contesting 110 seats, the JD(U) 115 seats and smaller allies Vikasheel Insaan Party and CM Jiten Ram Manjhi&rsquo;s HAM will be fighting from 11 and 7 seats respectively.&nbsp;
There are other minor political parties and alliances in the fray as well. Former NDA ally Upendra Khushwaha&rsquo;s Rashtriya Lok Samta Party has joined hands with Asaduddin Owaisi&rsquo;s AIMIM. Weeks before Bihar polls, fodder scam convict and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was been granted bail by the Jharkhand&nbsp;High Court on Friday in the Chaibasa treasury case which is linked to the fodder scam.
But Lalu is unlikely to walk out of jail as the&nbsp;Dumka&nbsp;treasury case is still pending before the court.
In the Chaibasa treasury case, Lalu was awarded a jail sentence of five years. He has been convicted in four fodder scam cases, of which he has previously been granted bail in two cases.
The RJD supremo is currently lodged at a Ranchi hospital and is undergoing treatment for multiple ailments.
