The Supreme Court on January 19, reserved its order on the bail plea of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra's son, who is one of the accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. On October 3, 2021, eight people were killed in Lakhimpur Kheri in a violence that erupted during a farmer protest.  According to UP Police FIR, four farmers were mowed down by an SUV, in which Ashish Mishra was seated. Earlier in Court, the UP govt opposed Mishra's bail saying that the crime is grave and granting bail will send a wrong signal to society.

&nbsp;The Supreme Court Thursday reserved its order on the bail plea of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra's son, who is one of the accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
A bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice J K Maheshwari heard submissions from Additional Advocate General for Uttar Pradesh Garima Prashad, and senior advocates Mukul Rohatgi and Dushyant Dave.
"We will pass orders," the bench said.
Opposing the bail plea, Prashad the top court that the crime was grave.
"It is a grave and heinous crime and (granting bail) will send a wrong signal to society," she said.
Senior advocate Dushyant Dave, appearing for those opposing the bail plea, said grant of bail will send a terrible message to society.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Mishra, strongly opposed Dave's submission and submitted that his client has been in custody for more than a year and the way the trial is going, it will take seven to eight years to complete it. &nbsp;He said that Jagjeet Singh, who is the complainant in the case, is not an eyewitness and his complaint is just based on hearsay.

Lakhimpur Kheri Case : Six men were arrested on Thursday in connection with the rape and murder of two Dalit teenage sisters here, police said.
The girls, aged 15 and 17, were found hanging from a tree in a sugarcane field about a kilometre from their house in the Nighasan police station area on Wednesday.
"We have arrested Junaid, Sohail, Hafizur Rehman, Karimuddin, Arif and Chottu in an overnight operation," <a href="https://www.editorji.com/crime-news/2-teenage-sisters-found-hanging-from-tree-in-up-s-lakhimpur-kheri-1663214913529">Lakhimpur Kheri</a> Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjiv Suman told reporters.
Junaid and Sohail were in a relationship with the two sisters, he said.
"According to preliminary investigation, the two sisters left their home on Wednesday afternoon after they were persuaded by Junaid and Sohail. Junaid and Sohail have confessed that they strangulated the girls after raping them," the SP said.
The duo then called Karimuddin and Arif to dispose of their bodies. They later hanged the bodies from a tree to make it look like suicide, Suman said.
An FIR has been registered under sections 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrong&shy;ful restraint), 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (<a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/hyderabad-7-minor-boys-complain-of-sexual-abuse-hostel-warden-arrested-1662985304190">POCSO</a>) Act, he said.

A post-mortem examination is underway at the district hospital. Everything is being done with the consent of the girls' family members, he said.
The girls' mother had on Wednesday claimed that they were murdered.
