JD(S) leader and former Karnataka chief minister Kumaraswamy questioned the timing of the release of the obscene videos involving his nephew and MP Prajwal Revanna.

"Who released it (videos) 3 days ago and why was it not released earlier? Why the old issue has resurfaced at the time of the election... SIT has been formed, let the truth come out and anyone who commits a mistake will have to face the consequences as per the law of the land."
He also brushed aside attempts being made to tarnish Deve Gowda's legacy by raking up thse issue.&nbsp;
"In Hassan's election, our candidate (Prajwal Revanna) will win. Everyone says that...I ask the Congress leaders why are you bringing the family name into this, talk about the individual, this is not a family issue...this is the matter of Revanna's family. We have nothing to do with it. They live separately," he was quoted as saying by ANI news agency.
33-year-Prajwal Revanna is the son of former prime minister and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda&rsquo;s elder son H D Revanna, who is an MLA and former minister.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Revanna has fled to Germany.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a Special Investigative Team to probe the matter after a letter by the Chairperson of the Women&rsquo;s Commission Dr Nagalakshmi. The row kicked off after some explicit videos started doing the rounds purportedly involving Revanna.
A first information report (FIR) was filed woman who worked at Revanna's house, who alleged that she was sexually harassed by Prajwal Revanna and his father H D Revanna, an MLA representing Holenarasipur.
The woman complainant told the police that she decided to come forward and name the father-son duo after watching videos of other victims narrating their ordeal.
The woman said Prajwal Revanna began summoning her to his quarters in the fourth month of her employment.
&ldquo;In a household with six female staff members, apprehension gripped us whenever Prajwal Revanna returned home. Even male colleagues cautioned us to exercise caution,&rdquo; she said.
The woman alleged that HD Revanna and Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulted women workers in their homes.
&ldquo;Whenever (HD) Revanna&rsquo;s wife wasn&rsquo;t there, he used to call the women to the storeroom and touch them while giving them fruits. He used to remove saree pins and sexually assault women,&rdquo; she added.

In response, HD Kumaraswamy said that the fault was of the private decorator he had hired and the connection was immediately terminated immediately as it came to his notice.&nbsp;

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company on Tuesday registered a case against former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy after the Congress in Karnataka accused him of drawing power illegally to illuminate his JP Nagar residence here for Deepavali.
The case was registered by the Vigilance Wing of BESCOM at its Vigilance Police Station under section 135 of the Indian Electricity Act (Theft of Electricity).
Earlier, the ruling Congress posted a video along with a statement on social media platform X, criticising the JD(S) leader and son of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.
In his response, Kumaraswamy said it was not his fault but of a private decorator who gave the connection directly from a nearby electricity pole. When he got to know, he immediately got it removed and took the electricity connection from the meter board of the house, he said.
&ldquo;The lone honest person in the world H D Kumaraswamy's JP Nagar residence was illuminated with decorative lights with illegal power connection directly from the electric pole. It is a tragedy that such poverty has struck a former CM to steal electricity!&rdquo; the Congress said, taking a dig at him.
Further taking a swipe at Kumaraswamy, the party said the Congress government&rsquo;s 'Gruha Jyoti' scheme offers 200 units of free electricity a month for residential connections and not 2,000 units.
&ldquo;I am sorry for this indiscretion. Let BESCOM (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company) officials come and inspect and issue a notice. I will pay the fine,&rdquo; Kumaraswamy responded on X.
He hit out at the Congress for making a big deal out of a "petty issue".
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said BESCOM will initiate action.
The Congress taunted earlier: &ldquo;If you were so poverty stricken, then you should have applied for the Gruha Jyoti scheme. Oh, you didn't know that only one electricity meter is allowed under the Gruha Jyoti scheme whereas there are many meters in your name!&rdquo; &ldquo;Despite power shortage in the state, measures were taken by us to provide seven hours of electricity to the farmers; you are facing such a "drought" that you resort to such a cheap theft? Didn't you hold a press conference and say "Karnataka is in the dark" and now you have lit up your house with stolen electricity?&rdquo; it added.
The ruling party sought to know why he was saying that Karnataka was in the dark when his house was shining with decorative lights! "To ask a question your own style &ndash; Do you need to light up your home when the state is facing drought? Do you want to have fun stealing electricity meant for the farmers? Do you want the &lsquo;Diwali&rsquo; (referring to bankruptcy in Kannada) of people for &lsquo;Deepavali festival&rsquo; in your house?&rdquo; the Congress asked.&nbsp;

The Janata Dal (Secular) formally joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Friday as Former Karnataka Chief Minister and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
BJP President JP Nadda and Goa CM Pramod Sawant were also present during the meeting.

There were talks within Karnataka&rsquo;s political circles for the past few months that the JD(S) could ally with the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
