The president had approved the conferment of 106 Padma awards, including three duo cases (in a duo case, the award is counted as one), on the eve of this year's Republic Day.

&nbsp;President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday conferred Padma awards to former Karnataka chief minister S M Krishna, noted industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and famous playback singer Suman Kalyanpur at a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Besides them, billionaire stock market investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, who had passed away last year, was given the honour posthumously along with several unsung heroes.
The president had approved the conferment of 106 Padma awards, including three duo cases (in a duo case, the award is counted as one), on the eve of this year's Republic Day.
Of these, over 50 people were awarded Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri on Wednesday.
Krishna, who was external affairs minister in the Congress-led UPA government and had later joined the BJP, was awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
Noted architect Balkrishna Doshi (posthumously) was also given the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second highest civilian honour.

Birla, Delhi-based professor Kapil Kapoor, who is widely known for his books on Indian grammatical theories and models, spiritual leader Kamlesh D Patel and Kalyanpur were conferred the Padma Bhushan, the country's third highest civilian award.
Jhunjhunwala was conferred with the Padma Shri.

Birla, who owns over 27% stake in Voda&nbsp;Idea, is willing to hand over his stake in order to keep the telco&nbsp;afloat, as per a letter he wrote to Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba&nbsp;on June 7.
&ldquo;It is with a sense of duty towards 27 crore&nbsp;Indians connected by VIL, I am more than willing to hand over my stake in the company to any entity-public sector/government/domestic financial entity or any other that the government may consider worthy of keeping the company as a going concern,&rdquo; Birla said in his letter.
This highlights a serious concern in the company as&nbsp;Birla offered to give up his control of the company more than a month before the Supreme Court dismissed the company's application for recalculation of the AGR dues.

Aditya Birla Fashion &amp; Retail runs brands like Pantaloons, Allen Solly, and Peter England.&nbsp;In a press release, Aditya Birla Fashion &amp; Retail Limited said the equity capital will be raised at ₹205 per share.
According to&nbsp;a report in the Economic Times, Flipkart and Amazon had both held separate talks with Aditya Birla Fashion &amp; Retail for a potential investment on Thursday&nbsp;but Flipkart&nbsp;managed to bag a stake in the fashion business.
Commenting on the deal, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the&nbsp;Aditya Birla Group, said, the partnership is an emphatic endorsement of the growth potential of India.
