 PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said former President Ram Nath Kovind has left behind a legacy during which the country’s Constitution was “trampled upon” as he "fulfilled BJP's political agenda".
Droupadi Murmu was on Monday sworn in as India's 15th President at an impressive ceremony in the packed and historic Central Hall of Parliament.
"The outgoing President leaves behind a legacy where the Indian Constitution was trampled upon umpteenth times. Be it scrapping of Article 370, CAA or the unabashed targeting of minorities & Dalits, he fulfilled BJPs political agenda at the cost of the Indian Constitution," Mufti tweeted soon after Murmu took oath as president.
Kovind demitted office on Monday after completing his five-year tenure.

President Kovind and PM Modi paid their last respects to Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan's mortal remains at his residence on Friday. They were joined by Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Giriraj Singh and BJP National President JP Nadda.
The flags at Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament flew at half-mast for the late LJP patron who passed away at the age of 74 at a Delhi hospital on Thursday, recovering after a heart surgery.
Paswan will be accorded a state funeral, home ministry officials said. The cremation will take place on Saturday in Patna.

Punjab CM will stage a sit-in protest against the new farm laws today at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh, on his birth anniversary

A day after the three farm bills were signed into law by President Ram Nath Kovind, farmers groups and political parties plan to intensify their protests. Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh will stage a sit-in protest against the contentious laws today at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh, on his birth anniversary. He will be joined by all Congress MPs and MLAs. Shiromani Akali Dal, which quit the NDA over the issue, said President Kovind&rsquo;s assent to the three bills marked a &ldquo;dark day for democracy and farmers.&rdquo;

National Sports Awards go virtual amid pandemic 

Prize money for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award has been increased to Rs 25 lakh while Arjuna Award winners will now get Rs 15 lakh&nbsp;
