The hosts, having opted to bat in Indore, were bundled out for just 109 inside 34 overs, which eventually resulted in Australia taking a mammoth 88-run lead in the first innings.
And Rohit was critical of India's abject batting display. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said, "We didn't bat well in the 1st innings, we understand how important it is to put runs on the board in the 1st innings and when they got 80-90 runs lead, we had to produce another innings with the bat but we were not able to do that again. If we had batted well in the 1st innings, things would have been slightly different."
"We need to regroup and try and understand what we did right in the first 2 games. We need to understand, no matter what the pitches are, you got to come out and do the job," he added.

With the talk around KL Rahul's place in the Indian side still raging on social media, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to voice his support for the under-fire Indian opener.
Asking netizens to leave KL Rahul alone, Harbhajan stated that Rahul hasn't committed any crime, he is still a top player and that all players go through such patches in international cricket.&nbsp;
The former Indian off-spinner further asked people to respect Rahul and have faith.

Venkatesh Prasad has been vocal on Twitter, demanding the exclusion of KL Rahul from the Indian Test side.

After Aakash Chopra implied that Venkatesh Prasad has an agenda against KL Rahul, the former Indian pacer hit back at Chopra.
Chopra, on his Youtube channel, had stated that Prasad was only using subjective stats of other players, ones that painted Rahul in a bad light in comparison.
Prasad responded to the former Indian opener's remarks on Twitter, calling his video vile. The 53-year-old pacer stated that Chopra conveniently and cleverly misquotes him, and wants to gag views that are not in line with what he believes.
Sharing a Twitter screenshot from 2012 where Chopra seems to be taking a dig at current captain Rohit Sharma, Prasad said 'the argument that we should not criticise a player in an ongoing match personally doesn&rsquo;t make sense.'
Prasad also said that while he 'admires Aakash Chopra for his hardwork, calling a different viewpoint as agenda because it doesn&rsquo;t suit his narrative is poor.'

Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik empathised with KL Rahul who is currently going through a dry spell in terms of runs for Team India and said that he himself has experienced a lot of bad days throughout his career as well.

"When you get out that way knowing very well this could have been your last innings, it has happened to me when you go into the dressing room, quietly walk into the toilet, and shed a tear or two," Karthik said.

Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik empathised with KL Rahul who is currently going through a dry spell in terms of runs, stating that he himself has experienced a lot of bad days throughout his career as well.
The 37-year-old feels that KL Rahul will definitely come back stronger but might need some time away from the game.&nbsp;
Karthik said that he too has had days where he went to the washroom to shed a tear or two.
"This is a professional world, you've got to deal with those sorrowful moments but as a player when I look at what he has gone through. When you get out that way knowing very well this could have been your last innings. It has happened to me when you go into the dressing room, quietly walk into the toilet, and shed a tear or two. It's not a nice feeling because there's not much you can do," Karthik said.
The 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batter also said that Shubman Gill should open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma in Indore and Ahmedabad.
Rahul, who has scored a total of 38 runs in the first two Tests, has also been removed as Rohit Sharma's deputy for the final two matches.
