&nbsp;An Army helicopter crashed after a "hard landing" in a forested area in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district on Thursday following a technical fault, killing a technician and injuring the two pilots on board, officials said.
The advanced light helicopter (ALH) Dhruv on an operational mission came down on the banks of a river in Marwah area, cut off from the district headquarters due to heavy snow.
A court of inquiry has been ordered and further details are being ascertained, the Army said in a statement.
Thursday's crash was the fifth involving Army helicopters in Jammu and Kashmir since 2021.
In a statement, the Udhampur-based Northern Command said, "At about 1115 hours on 04 May 2023, an Army Aviation ALH Dhruv helicopter on an operational mission made a precautionary landing on the banks of Marua river in the Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir." The pilots had reported a technical fault to the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and proceeded for a precautionary landing, it said.
"Due to the undulating ground, undergrowth and unprepared landing area, the helicopter apparently made a hard landing. Immediate rescue operations were launched and Army rescue teams reached the site," the statement said.
The injured were evacuated to the command hospital in Udhampur, where the technician &ndash; Craftsman Pabballa Anil - succumbed to his injuries, the Army said.
General Officer Commanding-in-chief of the Northern Command Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi paid rich tributes to the technician.

Pabballa Anil, 30, hailed from Rajanna Sircilla district in Telangana.
Defence sources said the condition of both the pilots was "stable".
Locals in the area rushed to the site and helped rescue the injured men. Some videos showing Kashmiri-speaking locals comforting the injured while they awaited evacuation to hospital drew praises on social media.
The wreckage of the helicopter was found on the banks of the river, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar, Khalil Ahmad Poswal.

Villagers danced and raised slogans in support of Abdullah as he and his party colleagues arrived.
"After a long time, I got an opportunity to visit here. These five last villages (of Kishtwar) lack basic facilities like health, electricity and a round-the-year road connectivity," Abdullah said.
He said the biggest problem for the residents was non-availability of electricity. "We have provided them with a solar system long back but the population in these villages has increased and they are demanding additional solar lights." Abdullah, an MP from Srinagar, said since the winter in the area was very harsh, the villagers had a genuine demand for a helicopter service to evacuate patients for timely medical attention and for deployment of doctors on a rotational basis.
The NC leader said that he, along with his two MPs Masoodi and Mohd Akbar Lone, would take up the issue of construction of a road tunnel to connect the Warwan-Marwah belt with the Kashmir valley with Union minister Nitin Gadkari.

Concerned over terrorists using sticky bombs to target public transport, the police has advised residents of Jammu and Kishtwar to thoroughly check their vehicles before turning them on.
A North Korean drone sent from Pakistan with a payload of seven magnetic or sticky bombs and an equal number of under barrel launcher grenades was shot down by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Talli Hariya Chak area close to the International Border on May 31.
"We advise people to thoroughly check their vehicles before starting them," senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Chandan Kohli said.
He said drivers and conductors of passenger vehicles should also check their vehicles thoroughly before starting them.
There is high degree of threat perception in view of the smuggling of sticky bombs from across the border, he said.
In view of the present security scenario, SSP, Kishtwar, Shafqat Hussain Batt also visited the bus-stand in the district and interacted with drivers of commercial vehicles.
The SSP advised the drivers to take all precautionary measures, including undertaking frequent checks of their vehicles, before and after boarding of passengers, so that terrorists by way of sabotage may not succeed in carrying out their evil designs.
He said any suspicious activity should be reported to the police or officers on real time basis for immediate action.
The SSP asked them to remain vigilant so that drug peddlers do not succeed in transporting of narcotics substances.
The senior officer informed them about sticky bombs, which an is an easy way to plant bombs in vehicles and asked them to remain extra cautious.
