In UP prison, women inmates allowed to fast; perform rituals on Karwachauth

The jail authorities also allowed the family members of the women inmates to send them puja material and edibles.

As women across the country celebrated Karwachauth, female inmates in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow and Gorakhpur jails also observed the festival after Uttar Pradesh minister for jails, Dharamveer Prajapati, issued a direction in this regard.
According to jail officials, 10 newly married inmates celebrated their Karwachauth in the prison.
The jail authorities also allowed the family members of the women inmates to send them puja material and edibles.
As a part of the ritual married women were allowed to sit in a circle outside the barracks for the puja. Husbands of about half-a-dozen women inmates who are also lodged in the jail were allowed to meet their spouses.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, in Gorakhpur, about 12 women inmates observed the fast. Interestingly, two women prisoners who are implicated in the murder of their husbands also fasted.

Actor Sonam Kapoor, who welcomed son Vayu in August, has learnt the art of multitasking. Recently, her mother Sunita Kapoor hosted Karwa Chauth festivities at their Mumbai residence and was part of the celebrations. Sonam posted a video on Instagram in which she can be seen getting ready for the festival, and also seen breastfeeding her son Vayu. &nbsp;
 The actor looked beautiful a lehenga, paired with heavy traditional jewellery. Though, she didn't fast, but she dressed up for the event as she loves traditions.&nbsp; The video ends with a picture of baby Vayu, covered in a white blanket, being breastfed.&nbsp;
 Sharing the video, she wrote, &lsquo;It&rsquo;s so nice to get back to the real world with my team, get dressed up and meet people.. love being back in my home ground. Love you #Mumbai with all your scars and cracks you&rsquo;re magic.&rsquo; Her husband Anand Ahuja took to comments section and wrote, &lsquo;Built for this mama @sonamkapoor.&rsquo; Fans are showering their love on her.
