Congress candidate from Northeast Delhi Kanhaiya Kumar was allegedly attacked with ink on Friday by some people in the constituency.
The incident happened outside the AAP office in the New Usmanpur area as Kahnhaiya was coming out after a party meeting with local Councillor Chhaya Sharma.
While the attack came as a shock for the Congress candidate, he soon composed himself amid sloganeering by his supporters.

Congress' North East Delhi candidate and former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar on May 13 led an attack on BJP MP Manoj Tiwari. Kanhaiya shared a video where he asked, "No one will ask what BJP MP did in the past 10 years because he has been getting votes in the name of PM Modi."
He further said that because of this BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has become the richest of all local parliamentarians in Delhi. Kanhaiya went on to say, "This boy in slippers is challenging Delhi's richest MP."

A group of Congress workers on Sunday held a protest near the office of party&rsquo;s Northeast Delhi&rsquo;s candidate for Lok Sabha polls Kanhaiya Kumar, demanding a local person to be nominated from the seat.
The protest was held near the Maujpur metro station.
Navdeep Sharma, one of the protesters, said they want a local candidate from the seat.
"We want our own candidate or leader to fight otherwise, we should have a meeting so that we can express our feelings with the high command. We need a local candidate from among us; we don't want an outsider. Our dissatisfaction is not with anyone; we don't have any problem with anyone,&rdquo; Sharma told PTI Videos.
He added if there is an outsider candidate, their local politics will be neglected.
Another protester said that they had raised objections earlier, but their voices were allegedly not heard, so now they have taken to the streets as they don't like Kanhaiya Kumar.
&ldquo;People from outside don't know anything, they don't even know our streets. Why are they being given tickets? We're not against anyone, we just want someone from here, someone who knows our streets and understands our issues,&rdquo; the protester said.
Candidates like Arvinder Singh Lovely, Sandeep Dikshit, etc should be given the ticket because they understand the local problems, he said.
"We are not against the Congress. We want someone who is dedicated to our community, not just a celebrity among us. That's our only demand,&rdquo; the protester stated.
When asked about the protest, a senior party leader denied any anger among the workers claiming that Kumar is getting a lot of love from the local people and it will also be converted into votes.
The protests come after the resignation of Congress' Delhi unit chief Arvinder Singh Lovely in protest against the alliance with AAP brought the party's factional feud into the open, with a section of leaders on Sunday demanding the removal of AICC in-charge Deepak Babaria.
In his resignation letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Lovely said the Delhi Congress unit was against the alliance with AAP and that all unanimous decisions taken by the senior Delhi unit leaders have been "unilaterally vetoed" by Babaria.
He also criticised Congress candidates - Kanhaiya Kumar from Northeast Delhi and Udit Raj from Northwest Delhi - for their statements and said that tickets were given to two people who are total strangers to the Delhi Congress and party policies.
When asked about the development, Kumar said, &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t know. I don&rsquo;t have any information. Let me gather information from the party and then I will tell you.&rdquo;&nbsp;

He was arrested, prosecuted and cleared of all charges in a sedition case, all over an 'azadi' speech he made in campus.
The speech and the subsequent 'persecution' put 'Communist' Kanhaiya on the political map.&nbsp;
<h3>How did all of it begin?&nbsp;</h3>
In 2016, former DSU members organised a cultural event to protest what they called the 'judicial killing' of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat. The students claimed Afzal Guru was wrongly framed in the case, and sentenced to death.&nbsp;
The students gathered 'in solidarity' with many Kashmiris who they allege were wrongly accused, harassed and even killed on a day-to-day basis.
To a packed auditorium, Kanhaiya Kumar made a rousing speech, calling for not just 'freedom from India', but also 'freedom within India'. Slogans like 'Bharat ki barbaadi tak jung rahegi, jung rahegi', 'India, go back', and 'azaadi' were raised.
Soon after, a clash took broke out between DSU and ABVP members, who were opposed to the event.&nbsp;
Kumar, along with Umar Khalid (in jail over the Delhi riots case since 2020), and eight others were charged with sedition for allegedly raising anti-India slogans during the protest.&nbsp;
Some doctored clips of the event, that were doing rounds on social media, were picked up by some news channels, spelling more trouble for Kumar and his co-accused.
Kanhaiya spent at least 26 days in prison. However, his voice tested negative in forensic tests of the clips with alleged anti-India slogans.
The accused were cleared of all charges in court.
Kumar later joined Communist Party of India (CPI) and contested from Bihar's Begusarai in the 2019 general election. He lost against BJP candidate and Union Minister Giriraj Singh.
He joined Congress in 2022, and has now been pitted against BJP's Manoj Tiwari from North East Delhi.

The BJP's claim that it will win more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha polls has created doubts among people on the country's democratic process and electronic voting machines, Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar said on Saturday.
In order to protect the Constitution, which the BJP wants to change in order to snatch fundamental rights of people, there was need to transform the 2024 Lok Sabha polls into a mass movement, he added.
Kumar was addressing a rally in Bhadaura village in Chhattisgarh for his party's Bilaspur Lok Sabha candidate Devendra Yadav.
"How does he (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) know his party will get 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Is he an astrologer ? Such acts raise doubts on the democratic process," Kumar claimed, adding he had met several people during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra who said they had voted for the Congress but saw the "lotus bloom in their areas".
"People are asking whether the EVM machine is fine or not. They are questioning the credibility of the EVMs," Kumar claimed.
On one hand the BJP is seeking votes and on the other it proclaims it will win more than 400 seats, Kumar said.
"It seems as if they are not asking for votes but are threatening us (the general public). It is arrogance of power and an insult to the country's citizens," he claimed.
The way General Dyer was thrown out by freedom fighters, "general kayar (coward) can also be driven out", Kumar said without taking names.
He was referring to Brigadier General Reginald Dyer who ordered his troops to open fire at a gathering in Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar on April 13, 1919.
It resulted in the deaths of several hundred persons, and the incident sent shockwaves across the world.

Kanhaiya, Khera among 'Bharat Yatris' to walk 3,500 km during Cong's foot march

The Congress has drawn up a tentative list that features 117 leaders categorised as "Bharat Yatris" to take part in the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' that envisions a united country.

Congress leaders Kanhaiya Kumar, Pawan Khera and former Punjab minister Vijay Inder Singla feature in a tentative list of "Bharat Yatris", who will walk throughout the 3,500-km stretch of the party's Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir "Bharat Jodo Yatra" starting September 7.
The yatra, which envisions a united country, is said to be joined by like-minded political parties, civil society groups and organisations.
Former Youth Congress president Keshav Chandra Yadav and Vaibhav Walia, secretary of the communication department of the Uttarakhand Congress, besides a host of other young leaders will walk all along the yatra.
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi will flag off the yatra with a rally from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on the evening of September 7.
Gandhi will also walk for the most part of the yatra while taking breaks for canvassing for the upcoming Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat Assembly elections.
The Congress has drawn up a tentative list that features 117 leaders categorised as "Bharat Yatris".
Chairman of the yatra organising committee Digvijaya Singh had earlier explained the concept of Bharat Yatris, saying they will walk the entire stretch of 3,500 km passing through 12 states.
Kanhaiya Kumar is a former president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) and Khera is the chairman of the Congress's media department.
A number of women workers and leaders of the party will also be Bharat Yatris, sources said.

Navjot Singh Sidhu on Tuesday quit as the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief, triggering other resignations and plunging the party into a fresh crisis just months ahead of the assembly elections.
Hours after his resignation, Razia Sultana, a part of the new 18-member ministry led by Charanjit Singh Channi, too put in her papers, expressing solidarity with the former cricketer.
Punjab Congress general secretary Yoginder Dhingra and treasurer Gulzar Inder Chahal followed with their resignations. Amid a flurry of political activity, several state Congress leaders visited Sidhu at his home in Patiala.
Sidhu, 57, who announced his resignation shortly after the allocation of portfolios to the new ministers, said he remains with the party.
He was appointed the party's state unit president on July 18 amid a bitter power tussle with Amarinder Singh, who stepped down as the CM 10 days back while accusing the party high command of humiliating him.
Sidhu didn't elaborate why he has quit.
But speculation in party circles ranges from his displeasure over the allocation of the home portfolio to Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa to the appointments of the acting police chief and the state advocate general by the new CM.
"The collapse of a man's character stems from the compromise corner, I can never compromise on Punjab's future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab," he said in his letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
"Therefore, I hereby resign as the president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Will continue to serve the Congress," the letter on Twitter said.
Amarinder Singh, who had called Sidhu &ldquo;dangerous&rdquo; and &ldquo;anti-national&rdquo;, was quick to react. &ldquo;I told you so&hellip; he is not a stable man and not fit for the border state of Punjab,&rdquo; he tweeted.
Former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar tweeted, &ldquo;It's just not cricket !&rdquo; &ldquo;What stands compromised in this entire 'episode' is the faith reposed in the (outgoing?) PCC President by the Congress Leadership. No amount of grand standing can justify this breach of trust placing his benefactors in a peculiar predicament,&rdquo; he posted.
The abrupt resignation took place on a day Amarinder Singh was headed to Delhi, and the day before Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal was scheduled to visit Punjab to make some &ldquo;big announcements&rdquo;.
Singh's travel plan had triggered speculation that he might meet some BJP leaders.
His media aide, however, said the Congress veteran had come to the capital on a personal visit and will vacate Kapurthala House, where the Punjab CM stays during trips to Delhi.
In her resignation letter to Chief Minister Channi, Razia Sultana said she is quitting the ministry &ldquo;in solidarity&rdquo; with Sidhu. Her husband Mohd Mustafa, a former IPS officer, is his &ldquo;principal strategic adviser&rdquo;.
She held the transport department in the Amarinder Singh-led government.
Channi, once considered a Sidhu loyalist, claimed he was not aware of his resignation. &ldquo;I have not received such information,&rdquo; he told reporters.
Asked if Sidhu was upset over the allocation of the home portfolio to Randhawa and some other appointments, he said, &ldquo;We will sit with Sidhu Saheb and talk to him. He is our president and a good leader.&rdquo; Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira who went to Sidhu's home in Patiala urged him to reconsider his decision.
He suggested to reporters that Sidhu must have taken a stand against corruption. When his suggestions were &ldquo;not accepted&rdquo; by the party, he must have felt that he did not to want to be a &ldquo;silent&rdquo; state party president, according to Khaira.
In Chandigarh, Cabinet minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said the high command is seized of the matter and expressed confidence that it would be sorted out by Wednesday.
Pargat Singh, Razia Sultana, PPCC working presidents Kuljit Nagra, Sukhwinder Singh Danny, MLAs Bawa Henry and Inderbir Singh Bolaria, and MP Amar Singh were among the party leaders who arrived at Sidhu&rsquo;s Patiala home.
Punjab AAP chief Bhagwant Mann accused the Congress of &ldquo;insulting&rdquo; Punjab and its people in their &ldquo;fight for the chair&rdquo;.
&ldquo;The Congress has crossed all limits in the battle for chair and pride. Punjab has never been so disgraced,&rdquo; he said in a statement.
In Delhi, the AAP claimed that Sidhu resigned because a Dalit was made the chief minister.
BJP leader Tarun Chugh said, &ldquo;The Congress in Punjab is in complete mess and the state is paying a heavy price for the chaos.&rdquo; Sidhu is said to have been upset over some recent appointments.
Rana Gurjit Singh was included in the ministry despite protests by some party leaders over his &ldquo;tainted&rdquo; past. He had to resign from the previous Amarinder Singh ministry over allegations of impropriety in the auction of sand-mining contracts.
Sidhu was also said to be unhappy that MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra was denied a berth in the Channi ministry.
Then there was the appointment of A P S Deol as the state&rsquo;s new Advocate General. As a senior advocate, Deol was a counsel for former Director General of Police Sumedh Singh Saini.
A few days back, senior IPS officer Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota was given the additional charge of Director General of Police of Punjab, amid reports that Sidhu was batting for 1986-batch IPS officer Siddharth Chattopadhyaya.
Though Sidhu loyalist argue that he was being &ldquo;ignored&rdquo;, his rivals and the opposition saw him as a leader who enjoyed the confidence of the Congress high command &ndash;- and would overshadow Channi as the state elections neared.&nbsp;

Kanhaiya&nbsp;Kumar, the&nbsp;CPI leader &amp; former JNU&nbsp;students union president,&nbsp;could be preparing grounds for his entry into the Congress as he meets senior party leader Rahul&nbsp;Gandhi.
Kumar&nbsp;was feeling suffocated in the CPI, Indian Express reported quoting sources close to him. He met Gandhi on Tuesday and the two have discussed Kanhaiya's entry into the Congress.
Kumar, who is famous for his speaking skills, could play a key role in Bihar politics for the Congress party.&nbsp;

The Patiala House Court in Delhi has taken cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police in the 2016 JNU sedition case. The court has summoned all the 10 accused in the case, including Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and former JNU Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, and has directed them to remain present before the Court on March 15. In February 2020, the Delhi Government granted sanction to prosecute persons accused of sedition for raising anti-national slogans during the 2016 protest march. Court had earlier rejected the police chargesheet citing lack of requisite sanction from the state govt.

Kanhaiya laments: Opposition only reacting to NDA agendas in Bihar

Taking a swipe at the ruling NDA in Bihar, CPI leader Kanhaiya Kumar&nbsp;said unfortunately the agendas which were relevant to the state 15 years back continue to dominate the present polls. He had this suggestion for the Opposition alliance in Bihar

Lamenting&nbsp;that in the ongoing polls in Bihar, the ruling coalition is setting the agendas and the opposition is only reacting to it instead of coming out with their own issues,&nbsp;CPI leader and former JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar on Wednesday said unfortunately the agendas which were relevant to the state 15 years back continue to dominate the present polls.&nbsp;CPI is part of the RJD-led Grand Alliance in the Bihar elections. The left party is contesting on six seats in all three phases of the election as partner of the anti-NDA grouping.&nbsp;Though&nbsp;Kanhaiya, is not fighting the state elections, but he has been named among the star campaigners of his party for the polls.&nbsp;

CPI is part of the RJD-led Grand Alliance in the Bihar elections. The left party is contesting on six seats in all three phases of the election as partner of the anti-NDA grouping.
Though Kumar, who unsuccessfully contested 2019 General Election from his native Begusarai Lok Sabha seat, is not fighting the state elections, but he has been named among the star campaigners of his party for the polls.
Former JNUSU general secretary, Sandeep Saurav, has been fielded by CPI-ML, also a member of the grand alliance, from the Paliganj assembly seat in the outskirts of Patna.
Its yet not confirmed whether Kanhaiya Kumar as leader of the opposition grouping would seek vote for him at Paliganj.
Making a scathing attack on the Nitish Kumar government, the prominent youth leader said "even after ruling the state for 15 years he failed to solve the problems in the fields of education, health and other core sectors...Bihar still stands on the same position as it did 15 years ago in terms of development." The CPI leader's jibe seems directed at puncturing the claims of Nitish Kumar of bringing an alround development in the state in last 15 years under him.
"The issues pertaining to basic needs of the people which were relevant in elections 15 years ago continue to dominate the political arena even in this election," the former Jawaharlal Nehru University students union president told PTI-Bhasha in an interview.
"The ruling side is setting the agendas in the current state election and the opposition parties are merely reating to it. Opposition should set their own alternative agendas," he said.
Coming down heavily on the NDA coalition at the centre as well as in Bihar, the CPI leader said "through headline management they are diverting attention of the people from the basic issues guiding citizens daily lives." Apparently refering to LJP which is contesting on its own in the Bihar polls with a promise to defeat the JD(U) and form next government in the state with the BJP, he said "there is utter confusion in the ruling alliance as who is with whom and who is against whom." Asked if he accepts Tejashwi Yadav as the leader of the opposition grouping, he said "he is leader of the largest constituent of the coalition so its natural that he will be the leader and there is no question about it." At the joint press conference of the Mahagathbandhan in Patna recently where seat-sharing deal among the partners was made public, all the member parties had backed Lalu Prasad's younger son Tejashwi Yadav as the chief miniterial candidate of the grand alliance.
