‘Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration’: JK leaders vow to fight

An all-party meeting on&nbsp;Gupkar&nbsp;Declaration concluded at Farooq Abdullah&rsquo;s residence in Srinagar on Thursday wherein all the signatories barring the Congress participated.&nbsp;Soon after the meeting concluded, Farooq said that the resolution passed on August 4 last year by the mainstream political parties in the Valley has been named as &ldquo;Peoples&rsquo; Alliance for&nbsp;Gupkar&nbsp;Declaration&rdquo;.&nbsp;The three-time chief minister, who was accompanied by Mehbooba Mufti, Sajad Gani Lone, Muhammad Yousuf&nbsp;Tarigami&nbsp;and others, said&nbsp;they have &ldquo;decided to name the resolution as Peoples Alliance for&nbsp;Gupkar&nbsp;Declaration&nbsp;and their&nbsp;motive is to fight for the restoration of August 04, 2019 position.&rdquo;&nbsp;Farooq&nbsp;also stated that the signatories will also fight for the rights that were snatched last year from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.&nbsp;

The meeting was held at the residence of National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and attended by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone and CPIM leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami. The local Congress which was a signatory to the Ggupar&nbsp;declaration of August 4 last year, however remained absent.
Briefing reporters after the nearly two-hour meeting, Abdullah said the leaders decided to formalise the alliance, that has been named 'Peoples' Alliance for Gupkar Declaration'.

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti being released: JK administration

PTI,&nbsp;Srinagar:&nbsp;PDP president and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti is being released after being in preventive detention for more than 14 months following the abrogation of Article 370 last year.
"Ms. Mehbooba Mufti being released," JK government spokesman Rohit Kansal tweeted.
Mehbooba, who became the first woman chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir in 2016 as head of the PDP-BJP alliance, was arrested along with other leaders hours ahead of the Centre bifurcating the state into two union territories and abrogating Article 370.
She was first detained under Sections 107 and&nbsp;151 of CrPC but later booked under the controversial Public Safety Act.
Initially, Mehbooba was lodged at Cheshma Shahi guest house and then shifted to another government guest house at M A Link Road here.
The PDP president was then taken to her residence where she remained under house arrest.
Mehbooba's daughter, Iltija, had challenged her detention in the Supreme Court, which last heard the case on September 29.

PDP&nbsp;on Thursday was denied permission for their first official meeting, confirmed several party leaders who released videos of police not allowing them to leave their residence.&nbsp;

A Peoples Democratic Party meeting in Jammu&nbsp;and Kashmir's Srinagar&nbsp;was thwarted by the police on Thursday, many of the leaders of the party led by incarcerated Mehbooba&nbsp;Mufti claimed in videos that were posted by them. A bunch of videos showed several leaders being prevented to leave their houses. This as the Union Territory administration has turned&nbsp;Mehbooba's&nbsp;residence into a sub-jail after arresting her last year in August when the Centre revoked the special status of the Himalayan state. The PDP&nbsp;which ran a coalition government with the BJP&nbsp;in the erstwhile&nbsp;state has not been able to hold a meeting since Article 370 abrogation. Reportedly,&nbsp;PDP&nbsp;General Secretary&nbsp;Ghulam&nbsp;Nabi&nbsp;Lone who had called on the meeting had informed the administration beforehand on September 1. Meanwhile,&nbsp;BJP&nbsp;and the centre backed Jammu&nbsp;and Kashmir&nbsp;Apni&nbsp;party's political activities have been taking place&nbsp;smoothly.&nbsp;
