Jannayak Janta Party leader and former Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala on May 9 wrote the governor seeking a floor test to see if Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has the majority to run the government.
In a letter to the governor, Chautala said that his party is ready to back any political party for the government formation. The move comes after three independent MLAs withdrew their support to the ruling BJP.
"It is evident that the BJP govt in Haryana no longer commands a majority," former Deputy Chief Minister and JJP leader Dushyant Chautala said in his letter to the governor on Wednesday.
In his letter, Chautala urged the Governor to direct appropriate authority to immediately call for a floor test.
BJP's former ally Jannayak Janata Party told reporters on Wednesday that it is ready to help the Congress bring down the BJP government in Haryana, a day after three Independent MLAs withdrew support to the ruling party.
However, Chief Minister Saini asserted that his government was not in trouble.
His predecessor and party colleague M L Khattar also claimed that many MLAs are in touch with the BJP and there is "nothing to worry about".
Independent MLAs Sombir Sangwan (Dadri), Randhir Singh Gollen (Pundri) and Dharampal Gonder (Nilokheri) withdrew support yo the ruling BJP in Haryana and announced that they would back the Congress.
The BJP has currently 40 MLAs, shy of the majority mark of 45 in the now 88-member House.

The ruling coalition of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) is headed for a split in the state, after the two fail to reach a seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Reports suggest the BJP is set to form a new government in Haryana with the support of independent MLAs, with a few of them accommodated in the Cabinet.
Media reports also suggest that Khattar may not return as the Chief Minister, and would contest the Lok Sabha polls instead.
JJP leader Dushyant Chautala met BJP president JP Nadda on Monday to discuss seat-sharing for general elections. JJP sought to contest from 2 of the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana. The BJP state unit, however, wants to contest all 10 of the seats themselves.
The BJP had won all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the 2019 elections. The JJP had tied up with the party in Haryana, after the BJP fell short of the majority mark in the Assembly.

The Jannayak Janta Party is a strong partner of the NDA, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said on Sunday, adding that the leadership of both the BJP and his party will take a call on the Lok Sabha and the assembly elections.
"We are a strong partner of the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) and committed to provide a stable government in the state," he said when asked about the coaltion.
Under the NDA, the leadership of both the parties will sit and decide about the Lok Sabha and the assembly elections, he told reporters.
The Ajay Singh Chautala-led Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) extended support to the BJP in 2019 after the saffron outfit fell short of a majority in the assembly polls.
In recent months, however, the JJP and the BJP have both said they are preparing to contest all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state and remained non-committal on continuing the alliance or jointly contesting the elections.
The BJP had won all 10 seats in the state in the 2019 elections.

PTI,&nbsp;Chandigarh:&nbsp;Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Tuesday said he has tested positive for coronavirus, adding that he was asymptomatic and feeling alright.
Chautala, a JJP leader, urged people who had met him during the past week to get themselves tested.
"My COVID-19 test report has returned positive. There are no symptoms of COVID-19 like fever etc, but as the report is positive, I am self-isolating," he said in a message on Twitter.
Earlier, Chief Minister M L Khattar, some ministers, Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta and a few legislators and MPs from the state had also contracted the infection and later recovered.&nbsp;
