Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Chaudhary gave a shoutout to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Bharat Ratna award was announced for his grandfather and former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.
"Won hearts", is what Chaudhary said on X in response to Modi's post amidst rumours gaining ground that the RLD is joining the BJP-led NDA alliance.
While an official confirmation is awaited, Chaudhary's response further fuels speculation of an impending rift with the INDIA bloc, giving a major blow to Rahul Gandhi's aspirations to fight as a united front against Modi for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Yadav's statement comes after some media reports suggested that BJP has offered RLD four Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, including Kairana, Baghpat, Mathura, and Amroha.

Amid speculation that RLD's Jayant Chaudhary may join hands with the BJP, senior Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav on February 7 accused the saffron party of "creating confusion".
Yadav said that Chaudhary will remain with the INDIA bloc and work to defeat the BJP.
"The BJP is doing the work of creating confusion. He (Jayant) is not going anywhere. He will remain with the INDIA bloc with full strength and will do the work of defeating the BJP," Yadav told reporters in Lucknow.
Yadav added that Chaudhary is a secular person.
The statement comes after some media reports suggested that &nbsp;BJP has offered RLD four Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, including Kairana, Baghpat, Mathura, and Amroha.

A day before the 5-state Assembly elections kick off with the first phase of voting in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave an interview to news agency ANI's editor Smita Prakash.
Regarding the Samajwadi Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance in UP, PM Modi said that the "game of two boys" has been seen in the state earlier too, a possible allusion to the Congress-SP tie-up.
By "two boys", he was referring to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary.

In the 90s, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was attributed for a comment about constructing roads in Bihar ”as smooth as the cheeks of Hema Malini”. Lalu however denied having made such a comment.

In 2019, Congress Madhya Pradesh minister PC Sharma again promised to turn Bhopal roads as smooth as Hema's cheek.
In 2013,  the then UP minister Raja Ram Pandey promised to build roads as smooth as the cheeks of Hema Malini and Madhuri Dixit.
Then there was another MP minister Sajjan Singh Verma who said that BJP makes Hema Malini dance to get votes.
Recently, Maharashtra minister Gulabrao Patil compared the smoothness of roads in his Assembly constituency, Jalgaon district, to Hema Malini's cheeks. The minister later apologised for the remark.

Just flashback to that chilly January night when farm leader Rakesh Tikait broke down after UP Police action on protesting farmers.
Then RLD chief and Jayant's father the late Ajit Singh was the first political leader to call Tikait that very night and pledge total support to the farmers.
Since then, Jayant Chaudhry has held numerous and massive rallies across Western UP in support of thr farmers.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Chaudhary on Tuesday tweeted photos of their meeting with the Western Uttar Pradesh-based leader telling NDTV that an alliance has been sealed.  Chaudhary told NDTV there was no question of going with the BJP. There were speculations that both the parties are firming up to form an alliance ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls next year will take the BJP head-on.
Sharing a photo of both and shortly afterwards the RLD leader also tweeted a photo of their meeting with a similar caption, in the tweet in Hindi Akhilesh wrote, “Heading towards change with Jayant Chaudhary".
Jayant Chaudhary earlier while speaking to HT said the Samajwadi Party has a “credible base” in Uttar Pradesh when asked about coalitions ahead of the polls which are seen as a precursor to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Rashtriya Lok Dal&nbsp;leader Jayant Chaudhary on Tuesday tweeted photos of their meeting with the Western Uttar&nbsp;Pradesh-based leader telling NDTV&nbsp;that an alliance has been sealed.&nbsp;&nbsp; Chaudhary&nbsp;told NDTV&nbsp;there was no question of going with the BJP.&nbsp; There were speculations that both the parties are firming up to form an alliance ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls next year will take the BJP&nbsp;head-on.
Sharing a photo of both and shortly afterwards the RLD leader also tweeted a photo of their meeting with a similar caption, in the tweet in Hindi&nbsp;Akhilesh&nbsp;wrote,&nbsp;&ldquo;Heading towards change with Jayant Chaudhary".
Jayant Chaudhary earlier while speaking to HT said the Samajwadi Party has a &ldquo;credible base&rdquo; in Uttar Pradesh when asked about coalitions ahead of the polls which are seen as a precursor to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to probe the alleged gang rape of the 19-year-old Dalit girl, recorded the statements of victim's family in Hathras on Sunday. Opposition support is pouring out for the family with several high-profile leaders scheduled to visit them after Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi's visit on Saturday. Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Azad and RLD's Jayant Chaudhary are expected to be in Hathras on Sunday to meet the girl's family. A delegation of the Samajwadi Party, consisting of former MPs Ramji Lal Suman, Dharmendra Yadav, Akshay Yadav, Atul Pradhan is also in Hathras.
