Peru begins reopening archaeological sites, Machu Picchu still shut

A total of 17 archeological sites and museums opened their doors across Peru this week, after more than seven months of closure as a measure to reduce the spread of the new coronavirus.
Other nine sites will do so progressively until the end of the month, and six more are expected to open gradually between November and January.
There is no date yet for the reopening of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, which received 1.5 million tourists a year, and which is the largest Peruvian attraction for international tourism.

Indians spend almost 9 hours of their free time sleeping: study

A first-of-its kind survey done on Indians answers questions about what a typical 24-hour day looks like.&nbsp;
The main aim of the survey conducted by the&nbsp;National Statistical office was to assess the&nbsp;paid and&nbsp;unpaid activities both in rural and urban areas.
The results will help in policy assessment across various departments. The survey showed that in rural areas, males aged 6 years and older, spent an average of&nbsp;9.2 hours in sleep and &ldquo;related activities&rdquo;.&nbsp;While females spent&nbsp;557 minutes sleeping.
In urban areas, males spent 534 minutes in sleep and females spent&nbsp;552 minutes sleeping and in other related activities.&nbsp;
The survey was conducted between January and December of 2019.

Spike of over 75,000 new Covid-19 cases, 940 deaths in 24 hours

India's Covid-19 tally crossed the 65 lakh-mark with a spike of 75,829 new cases &amp; 940 deaths reported in last 24 hours. Total case tally stands at 65,49,374, including 9,37,625 active cases, 55,09,967 cured, discharged and migrated cases and 1,01,782 deaths. The Union Health Ministry also said that India has scaled up its testing capacity from one crore in January to more than 7.7 crore in October, adding that India 'continues to occupy the top global position with the maximum number of recoveries'. India accounts for 21% of the global recovered cases, on the other hand, its share in the total cases stands at 18.6%, the govt said.
