Krishna Janmashtami is one of the prominent festivals of Hindus. This festival is celebrated with zeal and zest across the country. This year, the auspicious festival will be observed on August 19, 2022.&nbsp;
It is believed that on this day Lord Krishna was born and to celebrate his birthday, a special prasad is made. This prasad is called makhana paag and is known as quite unique and can be made easily.&nbsp;
<h3>What all do you need to make makhana paag prasad?&nbsp;</h3>
Makhana
Ghee
Coconut
Powdered sugar
<h3>How to make makhana paag prasad?&nbsp;</h3>
Step 1: You need to cut the makhanas into halves and keep them in a bowl.&nbsp;
Step 2: Now, take a pan and preheat for 1-2 minutes, once the pan is hot, add ghee and let it melt.&nbsp;
Step 3: In this step, you need to add chopped makhanas to the pan. You have to stir them till they are brown in colour.&nbsp;
Step 4: Now, you can take out the makhanas from the pan and let it cool for some time.&nbsp;
Step 5: In this step, prepare the chashni and for that add powdered sugar to the pan along with water. Cook till it completely melts and attains a similar consistency.&nbsp;
Step 6: Now is the time to add fried makhanas to the sugar syrup. One can garnish the paag with grated coconut and stir it well to give a nice coating.&nbsp;
Step 7: Transfer it to a plate and ta-dah! Makhana paag prasad is ready.&nbsp;

Krishna Janmashtami 2022 Date &amp; Puja Timings : Celebrated all across India, Krishna Janmashtami commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. It is observed on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha and this year, it will be celebrated on 18th and 19th August.&nbsp;
Every year, Janmashtami is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. It is usually a two-day affair that begins with the Krishna Janmashtami Puja on one evening followed by Dahi Handi the next day.
To mark the celebrations, devotees decorate their homes and temples with flowers, observe a fast, offer prayers, sing devotional songs and participate in the Dahi Handi ceremony. Earthern pots with butter and milk are hung on the streets with people forming human pyramids to reach the 'dahi handi' and break it.&nbsp;

Two devotees were killed and seven others injured in a stampede-like situation at the famous Bankey Bihari temple here during Janmashtami celebrations in the early hours of Saturday, officials said.

Shashank Goswami, a temple priest, said the incident took place at the time of the 'mangala aarti' around 1.45 am when the courtyard was jam-packed with devotees.&nbsp;

Two devotees were killed and seven others injured in a stampede-like situation at the famous Bankey Bihari temple in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura during Janmashtami celebrations in the early hours of Saturday, officials said.
"Prima facie, the cause of death is suffocation due to a heavy rush during the 'mangala aarti'," District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal said.
A 55-year-old woman from Noida and a 65-year-old devotee from Jabalpur died in the incident, a senior official said.
The administration has taken the incident seriously and Agra commissioner Amit Gupta is reaching Mathura to assess the reasons that led to it and provide guidance to the local administration, the official added.

Timely intervention and administration of first aid to the injured helped save many lives, he said.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss of lives in the incident and directed officials to ensure that all necessary help is provided to the injured, according to an official statement issued in Lucknow.
He also directed the Home Department to ensure proper arrangements are made at religious places during festivals to prevent any untoward incidents, the statement said.&nbsp;

However, before the controversy spread, the civic authorities removed the banner immediately following complaints on Thursday.

The Hindu community in Bangladesh has the same rights as she has, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said, asserting that the number of mandaps in Dhaka during the Durga Puja festivities were much higher than in West Bengal.
Hasina interacted with the Hindu community leaders on Thursday on the occasion of Janmashtami and urged believers of other faiths not to think of themselves as minorities, saying everyone irrespective of their religions will enjoy equal rights in Bangladesh, a Muslim-majority country.
“We want people of all faiths to live with equal rights. You are people of this country, you have equal rights here, you have the same rights as I have,” the Dhaka Tribune newspaper quoted her as saying.
“You would always think that you are the citizens of this country and you will enjoy equal rights,” the premier noted.
Hasina virtually joined the event at Dhakeswari Mandir in Dhaka and JM Sen Hall in Chattogram from her official residence in Gonobhaban.
“We also want to see you in that way. Please don’t undermine yourselves. You were born in this country, you are the citizens of this country,” she noted.
The prime minister said the number of mandaps in Dhaka is higher than the number in West Bengal or Kolkata, and across Bangladesh during the Durga Puja festivities.
Hasina lamented that whenever an untoward incident occurs, it is propagated in such a manner that the Hindu community don’t have any rights in Bangladesh.
“Colours are given to that incident in a way that the Hindus have no rights here. And the actions of the government after the incidents don’t get proper attention,” Prothom Aalo newspaper quoted her as saying.
Hasina said her government and the Awami League did not believe in undermining people from any religion.
“We can say it clearly. Our government is very cautious about it. I can assure you that,” she added.
The Hindu community is the second largest religious affiliation in Bangladesh according to the 2022 census, constituting approximately 7.95 per cent out of the total 161.5 million population.
