This is the second death reported since January 3.

Amid ongoing protests by members of the Jain community, the Centre on January 5, 2023 stayed all tourism activities at the Parasnath Hill in Jharkhand where the Jain religious site 'Sammed Shikharji' is located.
The Centre also directed the state government to immediately take all steps necessary to protect its sanctity.
The development comes after Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav met with representatives of the Jain community who assured that the government is committed to maintain the sanctity of the religious site.
Members of the community have been protesting against the state government's move to promote religious tourism at Parasnath Hill.

A Jain monk, protesting against the Jharkhand government, died on 3 January 2023 according to a community leader.
72-year-old Sugyeysagar Maharaj first participated in a peace march, and then sat on a fast at Sanghiji temple in Rajasthan's Jaipur, according to police. Cops said that he had not eaten anything since 25 December 2022.
"He passed away in the morning and the funeral was conducted at noon," SHO of Malpura Gate police station Satish Chand said.
Rajasthan Jain Sabha president Subhash Jain claimed that the monk was protesting against the Jharkhand government's decision to declare Jain pilgrimage centre Shri Sammed Shikarji as a tourist spot.
Shri Sammed Shikharji is a Jain pilgrimage centre in the Parasnath Hills of Jharkhand. The state government has decided to turn it into a tourist attraction, which irked the community. They are concerned the decision will jeopardise the sacredness of the site.

In a disturbing video doing the rounds on social media, an elderly person was repeatedly slapped by a man in Madhya Pradesh. The victim was later found dead.
The incident occurred in Neemuch. In the viral video, the assailant asks the victim whether his name is "Mohammad", and asks him to show his Aadhaar card.
The victim is seen not being able to reply coherently. It later emerged that the 65-year-old, identified as Bhanwarlal Jain, had a mental illness.

The Congress accused the BJP of turning MP from an "island of peace", to an "island of violence". Jitu Patwari said, "Tribals are being killed collectively in MP. Dalits are killed collectively. Minorities are killed collectively. Now, a person belonging to the Jain community - whose leader Mahavira taught the world about non-violence - is killed in the name of another minority group."
Madhya Pradesh's home minister said that a murder case had been filed against the accused. Narottam Mishra said, "He was an elderly man who got lost. He was not able to introduce himself properly. He used to get stuck on some words. After the incident, the person has been identified. A case under IPC Sections 302 and 304 has been filed against Dinesh Kushwaha."

Health Minister Jain: Covid-19 community spread in Delhi

Stating that there is community spread of Covid-19 in the national capital, Delhi Health Minister&nbsp;Satyendra Jain on Saturday attacked the Centre. Here is a report.&nbsp;

As the national capital continues to witness a spike in coronavirus cases, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Saturday attacked the Centre, saying&nbsp;the community spread of the&nbsp;deadly virus&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;city&nbsp;should have been admitted by now.&nbsp;Jain&nbsp;said only the Central government or the Indian Council of Medical Research can comment on the community spread of coronavirus in Delhi.&nbsp;The health minister also said&nbsp;the doubling rate in Delhi is about 40 days.&nbsp;Delhi's coronavirus tally breached the 2.38 lakh mark on Friday as the national capital detected 4,127 fresh cases while the death toll mounted to 4,907.&nbsp;

30% beds in Delhi occupied by outsiders: Satyendar Jain

In an interview with CNN-News18, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said, a substantial number of patients in private hospitals in the city are from outside Delhi. Jain said, in total about 30% of Covid-19 patients are from outside Delhi.
He added that it was a cause for concern for the state govt as they are looking to increase bed capacity as much as possible. Jain said, the state govt doesn't want a situation where if the occupancy increases, there's a crisis.
On the specifics of the third sero survey in Delhi, Jain said, the sero survey was started on September 1 and results will be out in the next 10 days.
