18-year-old Rudrankksh Patil, who at one point had 'quit the sport within a month of joining it' won Gold in the men's 10m air rifle event at the ISSF World Championship. 

Patil made a brilliant comeback in the gold medal contest to beat Italy's Danilo Dennis Sollazzo.

18-year-old Rudrankksh Patil won the Gold medal in the men's 10m air rifle event at the ISSF World Championship, becoming only the second Indian to achieve the feat after Olympic Gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, who won it in 2006.&nbsp; The teenager who at one point had 'quit the sport within a month of joining it' also secured a quota spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics with his victory. Trailing 4-10 at one time during the gold medal contest, Patil made a brilliant comeback to beat Italy's Danilo Dennis Sollazzo 17-13. While India has always excelled in shooting competitions, a gold at ISSF World Championship, which happens once in 4 years is rare.&nbsp;

Veteran Indian shooter & 2-time Olympian Mairaj Khan scripted history at the ISSF World Cup on Monday after he became the first Indian to win gold in the men's skeet final in Changwon, South Korea. In the 40-shot rain-delayed final, the Aligarh-based shooter shot 37 to finish ahead of Korea's Min Su Kim (36) and Britain's Ben Llewellin(26). He secured the final berth after a five-way shoot-off. The 46-year-old was tied at the 8th position with 4 other shooters after the previous qualifying events where he shot 119/125. The UP-based shooter who was the oldest member of the Indian contingent had won a silver medal at the 2016 World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.
