President Trump announced a failed ceasefire, now marred by escalating Iran-Israel tensions as both nations engage in retaliatory strikes.

In an unexpected escalation of tensions, U.S. President Donald Trump publicly used strong language following the breakdown of a ceasefire he had brokered between Israel and Iran. The announcement of a truce, intended to halt hostilities that erupted on June 13 when Israeli forces targeted Iranian nuclear sites, quickly unraveled as Iran launched missile strikes, triggering alarms across Tel Aviv.
&ldquo;They don&rsquo;t know what the f@*k they&rsquo;re doing,&rdquo; Trump snapped, visibly agitated, as he addressed reporters. While the former president is no stranger to controversial outbursts, this may be one of the rare moments in American history when a sitting US president has explicitly used the F-word in public.
Earlier, Trump had triumphantly declared a &ldquo;complete and total ceasefire&rdquo; between the two warring nations &mdash; an announcement that now seems to have unravelled in real time.
The Israel-Iran conflict reignited on June 13, when Israeli fighter jets struck Iranian nuclear facilities. Despite Trump&rsquo;s ceasefire proclamation, Iran retaliated just hours later, firing a fresh volley of missiles. Sirens wailed across Tel Aviv as Israeli defence systems sprang into action.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz responded swiftly. &ldquo;I have directed Israel's armed forces to respond forcefully,&rdquo; he said, accusing Iran of violating the truce. 
When questioned by media about the sudden collapse of the ceasefire he had announced, Trump did not hold back.
&ldquo;There was one rocket that I guess was fired overboard after the time limit and now Israel is going out,&rdquo; Trump said, appearing both agitated and exasperated. &ldquo;These guys [have] got to calm down.&rdquo;
He continued, &ldquo;I didn&rsquo;t like plenty of things I saw yesterday. I didn&rsquo;t like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal. They didn&rsquo;t have to unload.&rdquo;
Referring to both nations, Trump added: &ldquo;We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don&rsquo;t know what the f@*k they&rsquo;re doing.&rdquo;
Despite the President&rsquo;s declaration of peace, Iran initially issued a firm denial, stating no such agreement had been reached. However, a follow-up statement from Tehran acknowledged a temporary halt in fighting from its side.
The so-called &ldquo;12-Day War&rdquo; had reached a turning point on June 21, when the US &mdash; acting on Trump&rsquo;s orders &mdash; joined Israeli forces in striking three key Iranian nuclear facilities, dramatically escalating tensions in the region.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday expressed concern over the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict and urged the Centre to take diplomatic initiatives to help end the hostilities between the two West Asian nations.
The conflict has seen hundreds of missiles and drones exchanged between Israel and Iran since tensions escalated over a week ago, with the situation worsening significantly following the US bombing of three major Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday morning.
During her address in the assembly on environmental issues, Banerjee said, "War has broken out in many parts of the world. Such things cause air and water pollution. We have to take steps to stop this." She said, "External affairs come under the Indian government. Diplomatically, peacefully, we must take initiative so that war stops." Banerjee clarified, "I am not authorised to speak on external affairs and diplomatic issues. This is my personal view as a concerned citizen of this world." Speaking on the flood situation in Ghatal sub-division in Paschim Medinipur district, she said, despite repeated reminders, the central agency DVC is "not undertaking dredging operations" at its dams in Maithon and Panchet.
She accused the DVC of releasing large volumes of water from its dams during the rainy season "without informing" the West Bengal government.
"They are releasing water without informing us. They have not conducted dredging operations for many years. Now, DVC has the accumulated capacity to store one lakh cusec of water in its dams. Had they undertaken dredging operations regularly, four lakh cusecs of water could have been stored in their dams and such overflowing in vast parts of south Bengal won't recur," Banerjee said in the assembly.
West Bengal Irrigation Minister Manas Bhuniya had on Monday said nearly two lakh people have been affected in the floods at Ghatal sub-division in Paschim Medinipur district and asserted that the government was taking every possible step to help the marooned people.
Bhuniya had alleged that the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) aggravated the situation by "failing to regulate the release of water" from its dams in Jharkhand despite requests from the West Bengal irrigation department.
The minister had told reporters that he wrote to the chairman of the organisation to exercise caution while discharging additional water in future.

Meanwhile, OPEC+ has reaffirmed plans to increase oil output starting in December, which could help stabilize the energy market in the long term. Additionally, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a surprising rise in crude inventories, which has temporarily tempered the surge in oil prices.
