Ukraine Boxing Federation (FBU) Vice-President Oleg Ilchenko confirmed that the decision was taken because both events are being organised by International Boxing Association (IBA) led by Russia&rsquo;s Umar Kremlev. As many as 9 countries have refused to participate in both events.
While the Men's championship will take place in May, the women's event will take place in India in March. IBA had last year lifted the ban on Russian and Belarusian players against the International Olympic Committee's guidance. IOC had banned the athletes from both nations following Russia's invasion of Ukraine a year ago. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has hinted that boxing might get pulled from the 2024 Paris Olympics as they feel that the International Boxing Association (IBA) has "no real interest" in the sport or its athletes.
Having already been snubbed from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and cut out from the initial programs of the 2028 Los Angeles games, the Russian-led IBA is in line to lose its role in 2024 as well.

The meeting between the Indian officials (IOA) and their counterparts at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) went well on Tuesday as a resolution on amendment of IOA constitution in order to hold its elections before December could be achieved.

IOA-IOC meeting fruitful, solution for electoral issues likely

The IOC had earlier warned the Indian Olympic Association of a ban. And now, the IOA officials met with their IOC counterparts in Lausanne in a bid to find a solution.

The Indian Olympic Association are set to resolve their election issues in time after the meeting with IOC on Tuesday.

Indian officials (IOA) and their counterparts at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) met in Lausanne, Switzerland on Tuesday. The meeting went all, with a resolution on the amendment of IOA's constitution expected in the coming days in a bid to hold the elections in December.
A source close to the development told PTI that it was a constructive and fruitful meeting.
The IOC called for a joint meeting earlier in September while sending a final warning to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to hold elections by December or face a ban.
Shooter Abhinav Bindra, India's first individual Olympic gold medallist, also attended the meeting and presented his views.
The Supreme Court had also appointed former apex court judge Justice L Nageswara Rao for amending the constitution of IOA and preparing the electoral college. A bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud asked Justice Rao to prepare a roadmap for amending the constitution and to hold elections by December 15.

With leading sports bodies already banned Russian and Belarusian athletes, Western powers have reiterated their earlier call for removing individuals aligned with Russia or Belarus from positions of influence on international sports federations.
The fresh joint statement issued by 35 nations from the West, including Japan and South Korea, also called on event organisers to consider suspending broadcasts of sporting events in Russia and Belarus.

Despite the earlier call, two Russians are still holding key positions in International Olympic Committee. One is Olympic pole vault medalist, Yelena Isinbayeva, while the other is Russian tennis chief Shamil Tarpishchev.
