The facility in Andra Pradesh, an exclusive manufacturing site for Epack Durables, will produce air conditioners and washing machines at an investment of Rs 250 crore in the first phase, another official said.

Chinese TV and appliance major Hisense Group plans to acquire a stake of between 15 and 26 per cent in a new air conditioning and washing machine manufacturing plant being established by Epack in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, a top company official said on Thursday.
It will depend on the Indian government regulations regarding foreign direct investment (FDI) from China, he said.
&ldquo;We will take a minimum of 15 per cent or a maximum of 26 per cent, depending on the permissions and regulations in place,&rdquo; Hisense India managing director Steven Li said. He acknowledged that the group is keen on a greater commitment to India if regulations permit.
He was in Kolkata to launch the country&rsquo;s first 120-inch laser TV, along with a new range of air-conditioners for the next summer season.
The facility in Andra Pradesh, an exclusive manufacturing site for Epack Durables, will produce air conditioners and washing machines at an investment of Rs 250 crore in the first phase, another official said.
&ldquo;The plant will be operated by a special purpose vehicle, Epack Manufacturing Technologies, in which Hisense will acquire the stake. It will commence mass production from October 2025,&rdquo; Li said.
The facility will also cater to exports for Hisense, primarily to Southeast Asian markets and Mexico in future.
Li ruled out a foray into mobile handsets in India but said the company will launch washing machines soon.
He added that the group aims to double its revenue in India to USD 200 million by 2027.
Hisense, which was primarily an online brand, has begun building an offline distribution network, starting in eastern India in association with Kolkata-based Rohit Refrigeration.
&ldquo;We will build a network of 1500-2,000 dealers in the east in the near future to sell our wide range of televisions and refrigerators. After the east, we will expand into southern India, followed by the northern parts,&rdquo; CEO Pankaj Rana said.
The company claimed that Hisense is a global leader in the 100-inch TV category and is gaining traction in India as well.&nbsp;

More than half of portfolio management services schemes have underperformed the Nifty in FY23. 165 out of 297 PMS schemes that constitute 56% were unable to beat the returns generated by the benchmark. As per Mint, Nifty gained about 4% for the full year 2022 while more than half of the PMS schemes have given a negative return.
However, all the individual categories outperformed their respective benchmarks. Large-cap PMS schemes saw -0.1% returns, mid-cap PMS schemes saw -0.03% returns and small-cap PMS schemes returned 0.5%. As per Financial Express, 22 PMS schemes gave double-digit returns during the year.&nbsp;
Small-cap strategy Hem Securities&rsquo; India Rising SME Stars returned 34.4% and was the top performer. The worst performer in FY23 is Basant Maheshwari Wealth Adviser&rsquo;s Equity Fund with -26.2% returns.&nbsp;
Most PMS schemes adopt concentrated portfolios. This helps in hitting an overall performance even if certain calls go wrong. As per Financial Express, The Association of Portfolio Managers in India has fixed benchmarks for equity, debt, hybrid and multi-asset PMS strategies, which will be effective from April 1.
As per a latest regulatory data, under the discretionary portfolio PMS scheme managed ₹ 22.9 trillion, ₹ 1.7 trillion under the non-discretionary portfolio, and ₹ 2.2 trillion under advisory.

Companies have invested more than ₹51,200 crore across the 14 production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes in the past 1.5 years, data shows.&nbsp;
This is around 5% of the ₹2.73 trillion in investments made over an average of fewer than four years by the 588 companies chosen for the incentives. Therefore, the tendency is seldom typical.
However, the government has so far only provided incentives totaling ₹2,400 crore, or just 1.2% of the Rs 1.97 trillion planned over a five- to seven-year period, under all of the PLI programmes.
&nbsp;This is due to the fact that just two programmes mobile phones (₹1,500 crore) and pharmaceuticals (₹850 crore ) have accrued enough incremental sales to qualify for incentives.
As per the data available, so far 11% of the planned output or incremental sales target of ₹40.5 trillion has been met. Similar to this, 10.5% of the 2.79 million employment opportunities under the 14 PLI projects have been realised thus far.
With ₹16,199 crore, or 35% of the projected investments of ₹45,765 crore by 55 enterprises, the majority of investments have been made in pharmaceutical medicines. About ₹10,440 crore, or 34% of the entire commitment made by three companies under the PLI for high-efficiency solar PV modules, has already been invested, as per a Financial Express report.

The number of demat accounts that were opened in the financial year 2022-23 has come down compared to the previous year. This indicates the lack of confidence among retail investors due to unstable market conditions, lower returns from mid-cap and small-cap stocks, layoffs and other reasons.&nbsp;
MoneyControl citing data from NSDL and CDSL reported that the number of net new demat accounts in FY23 was approximately 2.51 crore, a decrease from the 3.46 crore accounts in FY22. Infact, this is the first time, the net new demat accounts has seen reduction since 2014.
MoneyControl quoted some market experts who said that the slowdown could be due to various reasons, like unstable market conditions, lower returns from mid-cap and small-cap stocks, absence of attractively-priced big IPOs, better interest rates on debt investments, and sustained selling by foreign investors, besides a base effect.
Factors like work from home enabled by easier broking account opening rules, inspired more people to enter stock market trading. However, the Russia-Ukraine war disrupted the supply chain, that increased the commodity prices which in-turn led to inflation. The central banks across the globe went for rate hikes which made fixed-income instruments more appealing and affected the profit margins aross the sectors.
As per data from Bloomberg, the combined average daily turnover in the equity cash segment of BSE and NSE decreased by 20% Rs 57,522 crore in FY23. The turnover was Rs 72,450 crore in FY22. In FY23, though the sensex rose marginally to 0.7%, the Nifty declined 0.6%. Likewise, the BSE midcap lost 0.2% and smallcap lost 4,46%
Less attractive IPOs is also a major factor for the drop in the number of demat accounts. As per Primedatabase.com, Indian corporates raised Rs 52,116 crore in FY23. The previous year, Rs 1.lakh crore was raised by 53 IPOs. This was also an all-time high.&nbsp;
Stringent margin system, has also decreased opportunities for traders with low surplus, leading to a reduction in the number of potential customers for discount brokers. SEBI, last year mandated upfront margin collection, that prevents brokers from providing excessive discretionary leverage to clients. Failure to comply will attract penalities. The rule was enforced on December 1, 2022. Since then, the members are collecting upfront margins from investors.
Layoff across sectors has also prevented investors from opening new demat accounts. As per media reports, about 24,250 employees were laid-off by Indian start-ups so far.

Equity mutual fund inflows continued to surge in the month of February. Data from the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI) shows net inflows into equity funds stood at Rs 15,685 crore, which is around 25% higher than the 12,546 crore equity fund inflows in January. This is the highest in the past 9 months.&nbsp; Within the equity funds, small cap funds continued to see strong inflows of Rs 2,246 crore, almost similar to the figure in January. Mid cap fund flows increased to Rs 1816 crore versus Rs 1628 crore in January.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, debt mutual funds continued to see outflows. For the month of February, debt fund outflows stood at Rs 13,815 crore. This is higher than the 10,316 crore outflows in January.&nbsp;
The total Assets Under Management (AUM) shrunk slightly and stood at Rs 39.46 lakh crore in February versus Rs 39.62 lakh crore in January.&nbsp;

The Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme 2022-23 &ndash; Series IV, will be open for subscription from March 6th to March 10th. The issue price has been fixed at Rs 5,611 per gram of gold, which is over Rs 200 more than the December issue price, which was Rs 5,409. However, for investors who apply online and pay digitally, there is a discount of Rs 50 per gram. Post discount, the issue price would be Rs 5,561 per gram.&nbsp; Here are some important points to keep in mind while investing in SGBs:&nbsp;
