The Union Health Ministry, in a notification, on Friday said that all international travellers will need to undergo 7-day mandatory home quarantine on arrival in India, even if they test negative for Covid-19 at the airport. The new rules for international passengers will set in from January 11. They will then have to undertake an RT-PCR test on the 8th day of arrival in the country. If the test is negative, the passengers "will further self-monitor their health for next seven days".If the passengers test positive, they will be sent to an isolation facility and their samples will be sent for genome testing. Passengers seated near those who test positive for coronavirus and cabin crew will be treated as contacts.
For flights from countries that are not on the "at-risk" list, two per cent of the passengers picked randomly, will be tested on arrival.The number of "at-risk" countries has been increased to 19; nine more have been added since December last year.

Singapore has been taken off from the list of 'at-risk' countries for international arrival into India. The island nation will now be classified together with other countries that are not 'at-risk'.
With this new development, passengers arriving into India from Singapore will no longer be subjected to additional arrival protocols specified for countries categorised as 'at-risk' by the Indian authorities.
At present, countries like the UK, South Africa, Brazil, Botswana, China, Ghana, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Hong Kong, Tanzania and Israel are placed in the countries of &ldquo;at-risk&rdquo; categories.
Under the latest government guidelines for passengers arriving from &ldquo;at-risk&rdquo; countries, the commuter will have to undergo an RT-PCR test on arrival in India and will be required to wait for the results before leaving the airport or taking a connecting flight, according to revised guidelines issued by the Health Ministry.
These additional protocols include a mandatory on-arrival RT-PCR test and seven days of home quarantine, with a follow-up RT-PCR test on day eight.
Passengers arriving from &ldquo;at no risk&rdquo; countries can enjoy quarantine-free travel within India and will need to self-monitor their health for 14 days. Also, a random sample of 2 per cent of passengers travelling from Singapore will need to undergo RT-PCR testing on arrival at Indian airports.

Civil aviation Ministery Wednesday said that normal international flight operations are expected soon.

The Civil aviation Ministry&nbsp;Wednesday said that normal&nbsp;international&nbsp;flight operations are expected&nbsp;soon.&nbsp; The flight operations&nbsp;were&nbsp;suspended since March last year owing to&nbsp;the&nbsp;coronavirus&nbsp;pandemic.&nbsp;&nbsp; The suspension was extended till November 30, except for the&nbsp;dedicated cargo flights and commercial flights that fall under air-bubble arrangements with the destination countries.&nbsp; A top official of the ministry said that international flight services are expected to be&nbsp;normalised&nbsp;&ldquo;very soon&rdquo; and &ldquo;by the end of this year.&rdquo;&nbsp; India has entered into an air bubble pact with over 31 countries.&nbsp;

Civil aviation Ministry&nbsp;Wednesday said that normal&nbsp;international&nbsp;flight operations are expected&nbsp;soon.

International passenger flight services are expected to be normalised "very soon" and possibly by the end of this year, Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Bansal said on Wednesday.
Scheduled international passenger flights to and from India remain suspended since March 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic. The suspension has been extended till November 30.

Currently, India has air bubble arrangements with more than 25 countries for operating international flights.
Under an air bubble arrangement between two countries, international passenger flights can be operated by their respective carriers into each other's territories subject to certain conditions.
Last week, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said the government was evaluating the process for normalising international operations and asserted that it wants to return to normalcy while keeping in mind the coronavirus pandemic situation in certain parts of the world.
"I am all for regaining our space in the civil aviation arena in the world and making a hub in India and for more wide body aircraft. We will get there but bear with me and trust me, I am on your side. We will work together but in a safe environment," he had said. PTI
