Passengers on an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Raipur faced a 40-minute delay due to a technical issue with the aircraft door.

Passengers of Delhi-Raipur IndiGo flight on Wednesday found themselves stuck inside the aircraft for nearly 40 minutes after landing as a technical snag prevented the door from opening. The incident stirred unease among the passengers, particularly in the wake of recent aviation incidents which included the crash of an Air India plane in Ahmedabad last Thursday killing 270 people.
Among the passengers on flight 6E-6313 were former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Raipur Mayor Meenal Choubey.
Choubey told PTI over the phone that after landing in Raipur around 2.20 pm, the door of the flight remained locked for more than 30 minutes.
"When we asked about the reason for the delay in opening the door, the crew said there was some technical problem, and they were trying to open it. "After 30 minutes, we asked them to seek assistance from the people outside. Then the people on the ground opened the door," she said.
While making it clear that the passengers weren't "scared," Choubey admitted that "after the Ahmedabad (air crash) incident, minor glitches also remind you of that tragedy." Senior Congress leader and the former chief minister Baghel also told reporters at the airport that the passengers remained stranded inside the aircraft for 40 minutes as the door remained closed.
Later IndiGo spokesperson acknowledged the incident and expressed regret saying the "flight 6E 6313, operating from Delhi to Raipur, experienced a delay in opening the aircraft door upon arrival on June 18, 2025, due to a minor technical issue.
"Following standard safety procedures, the door was opened after necessary checks were completed. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate our customers' patience and understanding."&nbsp;

Around 175 passengers had a close shave after an IndiGo flight suffered a bird hit and made an emergency landing at Ranchi&rsquo;s Birsa Munda Airport on Monday, an official said.
All the passengers and crew members are safe while the aircraft Airbus 320, suffered damage, he said.
"An IndiGo flight suffered a bird hit near Ranchi. It was approximately 10 to 12 nautical miles away from here, at about 3,000 to 4,000 feet altitude, when the incident occurred. The IndiGo flight was coming from Patna to Ranchi, and the pilot had to make an emergency landing here," Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi, Director R R Maurya told PTI.
He said all the passengers are safe, but the "aircraft suffered a dent after being hit by a vulture. Engineers are assessing the damage," he said.
The incident occurred at 1.14 pm.
Another official said that the aircraft, which was coming to Ranchi, was scheduled to go to Kolkata.
IndiGo officials, however, did not make any comment.

Aviation watchdog DGCA on Friday said the crew of the IndiGo flight from the national capital to Srinagar on Wednesday had sought permission to enter Pakistan airspace to avoid turbulence but the request was rejected.
In a detailed statement about the incident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said there was no injury to any passengers who were on the flight and that the aircraft's "nose radome" was damaged. <img src="https://cdn.editorji.com/6830241b5c143_1747985435.jpg" width="353" height="300">
The incident of the aircraft encountering turbulence is being probed by the DGCA.
On Wednesday, IndiGo's A321 neo aircraft operating flight 6E 2142 encountered hailstorm and severe turbulence near Pathankot.
"As per crew statement, they requested Northern control (IAF) for deviation towards left (International Border) due to weather on the route, however, it was not approved.
"Later, the crew contacted Lahore to enter into their airspace to avoid the weather but the same was refused too," DGCA said.
According to the regulator, the crew initially attempted to return back but as they were close to the thunderstorm cloud, they decided to penetrate the weather.
"Subsequently, they encountered hailstorm and severe turbulence. Crew chose to continue at the same heading to exit the weather by the shortest route towards Srinagar," the statement said.
On Thursday, PTI reported that the Lahore ATC had rejected the flight pilot's request to use the Pakistan airspace to avoid turbulence.
While in a thunderstorm cloud, the regulator said warnings of Angle of Attack fault, Alternate Law protection lost, backup Speed scale unreliable were triggered.
"Due to updraft and downdraft encountered by the aircraft the Autopilot tripped and aircraft speed had wide variations. As a result, Maximum Operating Speed/Maximum operating Mach (VMO/MMO) warnings and repeated stall warnings were triggered," the statement said.
During this period, DGCA said the aircraft rate of descent reached 8,500 fpm (feet per minute) and crew flew the aircraft manually till they exited the hailstorm.
"After carrying out all checklist actions (ECAM actions), the crew declared 'PAN PAN' to Srinagar ATC and requested for RADAR vectors and made a safe landing with Auto Thrust operating normally," the statement said.
Generally, 'PAN PAN' refers to an emergency situation.
The regulator said the matter is under investigation and that there was no injury to any of the passengers on-board the flight.
"Post flight walk around revealed damage to the Nose radome," the statement said.

IndiGo is evaluating introducing the gender-neutral option of honorific 'Mx' for internal candidates as part of larger efforts to boost inclusivity.
Besides, the country's largest carrier, which has a domestic market share of 62 per cent, aims to increase by two-fold the number of individuals with disabilities employed by it.
An airline spokesperson said it is evaluating introducing the option of honorific 'Mx' for internal candidates.
Sukhjit S Pasricha, Group Chief Human Resources Officer at IndiGo, told PTI that the airline has implemented various initiatives for the LGBTQ+ community, including employee referral programmes specifically designed to encourage hiring of LGBTQ+ individuals.
"This has strengthened candidate mobilisation through internal resources and fostered a more inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ employees... we partner with agencies specialising in LGBTQ+ recruitment," he said.
According to him, there is a steady induction of LGBTQ+ individuals and they are working in various functions, including flying, at the airline.
"Our benefits like gender reassignment surgery, inclusion of live-in partners in the medical insurance, has created an even more inclusive space, and has been one of the attractive features in our outreach to aspiring candidates from the community," he added.
At the end of March 31, 2024, the airline had 36,860 permanent employees, including 5,038 pilots and 9,363 cabin crew.
"Our organisation has over 240+ individuals with disabilities across 60+ cities in customer facing roles. The placement of individuals with disabilities is determined based on multiple factors, including safety, accommodation requirements, and skill mapping.
"We prioritise merit-based hiring and have primarily employed individuals with disabilities as customer service officers/executives for airport operations roles, with some also serving in cargo teams," Pasricha said.
He also said the airline aims to increase the number of individuals with disabilities employed by it by at least two-fold in the coming financial year.&nbsp;

"IndiGo flight 6E 5314 operating from Chennai to Mumbai had received a bomb threat. Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines. All passengers have safely disembarked the aircraft. The aircraft is currently undergoing inspection. Post completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area," the statement read.
This is the second time in less than a week that the airline received bomb threat. On May 28, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Varanasi received similar threat. It was later found to be hoax.&nbsp;

The feature has come after multiple untoward incidents against women travellers on flights occured. In January 2023, a male passenger urinated on an elderly women traveller on an Air India flight, in July 2023 a male professor sexually assaulted a doctor on a Delhi-Mumbai IndiGo flight and a woman was groped on a Mumbai-Guwahati IndiGo flight in September 2023.
As per Directorate General of Civil aviation data (DGCA), IndiGo is India's largest air carrier with a domestic market share of 60.5% in 2023.

An IndiGo aircraft grazed the wings of an Air India Express plane at the Kolkata airport on Wednesday, leaving wings of both aircraft damaged, officials said.
The IndiGo flight was headed to Darbhanga, while the Air India Express plane was scheduled to leave for Chennai.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched a probe and de-rostered two IndiGo pilots involved in the incident, a senior DGCA official said.
Both aircraft had passengers on board at the time of the accident but no injuries have been reported.
Air India in a statement said the aircraft has returned to the bay and further investigations are underway.
"The wingtip of a taxiing aircraft of another airline grazed one of our aircraft, which was stationary and awaiting clearance to enter the runway at Kolkata for a scheduled operation to Chennai," an Air India Express spokesperson said in a statement.
The aircraft has since returned to the bay and further investigation is underway, "for which we are coordinating with the regulator and airport authorities," the airline said.
The incident took place on the taxiway near the runway around 11 am, sources at the airport said.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) said in a statement that the wingtip vortices of both planes were badly damaged.
"A minor graze between a taxiing IndiGo aircraft and that of another carrier was reported from Kolkata Airport. The aircraft returned to bay for inspection and necessary action, as per protocol," IndiGo said in a statement.
Consequently IndiGo flight 6E-6152 between Kolkata and Darbhanga has been delayed, it said, adding that an alternate aircraft has been arranged to minimise delay and inconvenience to passengers.
IndiGo also said that "an incident report will be submitted to DGCA in due course, as per protocol".&nbsp;

Social media users suggested that the woman should go to consumer forum and ask for compensation.&nbsp;

A video posted on February 6 showing passengers singing the bhajan (devotional song) &lsquo;Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram&rsquo; on a flight has gone viral. The post drew criticism from netizens.
The video, uploaded on X by a user named Champak Bhoomia, is captioned, &ldquo;Blessing your timeline with "Mid Air" bhajans on Indigo&rdquo;.&nbsp;
Reacting to the video, netizens asked how the passengers were allowed to carry a drum inside the flight.&nbsp;
One user wrote, &ldquo;Is this allowed as per the laws? Unless the whole flight was booked by one group."
Another comment reads, &ldquo;It&rsquo;s called disturbing the peace! I am surprised that the airline did not file a complaint. But then, it&rsquo;s Indigo!&rdquo;
Though the social media post said it was an IndiGo flight, it has not been verified.&nbsp;

Flights are currently witnessing massive delays due to fog and poor visibility. However, an IndiGo flight (6E-126) from Patna to Pune was delayed for over three hours on Wednesday because the pilot of the aircraft refused to fly after he got news of his grandmother's death.&nbsp;
The aircraft, with 162 passengers on board, was on the tarmac and ready to take off. Right at that time, the first officer was informed about his grandmother's demise. The pilot refused to take off saying he was not in the right frame of mind to fly.&nbsp;
The Hindustan Times reported, "The first officer received information of the sudden demise of his grandmother. An alternate crew was arranged for the flight, and the passengers were served refreshments." IndiGo has not yet issued any statement on the matter.&nbsp;
IndiGo has been in the headlines lately for icreasing inctances of flight delays. In one such incident, a video went viral that showed a passenger hitting the pilot announcing the delay.&nbsp;
In another case, &nbsp;IndiGo passengers were seen having dinner on the tarmac after a flight was delayed for hours and later diverted. Several internet users on X claimed that a Goa to Delhi Indigo flight was delayed for almost 18 hours on January 14 and later diverted to Mumbai.&nbsp;
