Watch: Indian Railways' North East-bound tourist train is a traveller's paradise

The Ministry of Railways recently gave first glimpse of its latest luxurious train Bharat Gaurav Deluxe which is bound for the North East.
The deluxe AC train departed from New Delhi on March 21 to complete a circuit under the theme North East discovery beyond Guwahati.
The train is reportedly on a 15-day tour to the region during which it will cover Guwahati, Sivasagar, Jorhat, and Kaziranga in Assam; Unakoti, Agartala, and Udaipur in Tripura; Dimapur and Kohima in Nagaland; and Shillong and Cherapunji in Meghalaya&nbsp; . With a capacity of 156 tourists, the train has a mini library, fine dining facility restaurant and other modern amenities including sensor based washroom, shower cubicles in coaches. The inside view of the lavish train which has AC-1 and AC-2 accomodations will certainly give you 5-star hotel feels.
The train fare ranges from ₹ 1,06,990 per person in AC 2-tier, ₹ 1,31,990 per person in AC-1 cabins, and ₹ 1,49,290 per person in an AC-1 coupe which includes hotel stays, train journeys, sight seeing, travel insurance, meals, NDTV reported.

1st indigenously manufactured aluminium freight train rake inducted in Railways

The lifetime carbon saving is eight to 10 tonnes and this means, savings of more than 14,500 tonnes of carbon for a single rake, it said.

Lighter than its predecessors, but with more freight carrying capacity, the railways first indigenously manufactured aluminium goods train rake was flagged off from Bhubaneswar in Odisha on Sunday.
Manufactured in collaboration with Besco Limited Wagon Division and aluminium major Hindalco, it also has a lower carbon footprint for every 100 kg of weight reduction in wagons, the railways said.
The lifetime carbon saving is eight to 10 tonnes and this means, savings of more than 14,500 tonnes of carbon for a single rake, it said.
Flagged off by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the rake is 180 tonnes lighter than existing steel rakes, resulting in increased speed and lower power consumption for the same distance, the national transporter said.
"This is a proud moment for the country and our drive for indigenisation as these lightweight aluminium wagons are a big innovation for the Indian Railways," the minister said.

"These wagons save 14,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions, have more carrying capacity, consume less energy and are corrosion-resistant. They are 100 per cent recyclable and even after 30 years, they will be as good as new. These aluminium wagons will enable us to achieve our climate goals," he said.
Hindalco in a statement said that with the railways planning to deploy more than one lakh wagons in the coming years, the potential annual CO2 reduction could be to the tune of over 25 lakh tonnes, with around a 15 to 20 per cent shift to aluminium wagons. This is a notable contribution to the country's sustainability goals, it said.
The new generation wagons fabricated by Besco, based on RDSO-approved designs, are made from high strength aluminium alloy plates and extrusions indigenously manufactured at Hindalco's rolling facility at Hirakud in Odisha, leveraging its global technology, the statement said.
The new rake can carry 180 tonnes extra payload per trip over conventional rakes and being corrosion resistant, will reduce maintenance costs, it said, adding that fully lock bolted construction was used to built these wagons with no welding on the superstructure.

Rail Traffic remained disrupted for about 10 hours after the overhead equipment (OHE) on Delhi-Howrah rail line broke following 15658 Brahmaputra Mail's collision with a bull, a senior Railway official said on Saturday.
The train was on its way to Delhi from Dibrugarh, when it collided with the animal near Bharwari railway station in the district, he said.
After the incident at 8.50 pm Friday night, all trains upline were stopped, and a railway team repaired the line reaching the spot from Prayagraj, restoring the rail traffic after 10 hours this morning, Bharwari station superintendent D N Yadav said.
The incident took place about 2km before the Bharwari railway station, after which the engine driver somehow brought the train to platform number two of the station.
Following the incident, many major trains, including Lichchavi Express, Mahabodhi Express, and Purushottam Express were stopped at previous stations.
The line was repaired by a team of the Electrical Department of Railways which reached there from Prayagraj with a power wagon.
The engine of Brahmaputra Mail had also developed some technical snag, Yadav said, adding that no one was hurt in the incident.
