Two college students were arrested for sharing a clip of the Pakistani flag on their Instagram story, later released after a warning.&nbsp;

The Mumbai Police have arrested two college students for posting a video clip of Pakistan's Independence Day celebration as their status on a social networking platform, an official said on Wednesday.
The two male students from the Colaba area here were placed under prohibitory arrest late Monday night and later released after a warning, he said.
The teenage students had posted a clip of Pakistan's flag on their Instagram story status, according to the Colaba police. A Colaba-based businessman brought it to the police's notice, claiming two residents of the area had posted about Pakistan's Independence Day as their story status on Instagram which could affect the social climate.
Based on the complaint, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) tracked down the students late Monday night and brought them to the Colaba police station. The arrest, made under CrPC section 151 (3), was prohibitory in nature, the official said.
The police and the ATS questioned the two students and the offensive video, which was forwarded to them by their friend, was removed from their mobile phones, the official added.&nbsp;

This Independence Day consumer sentiment broke free of the economic slowdown. Economic Times quoted Industry Executives and reported that the sales of &nbsp;smartphones, laptops, television sets, refrigerators, daily consumables and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) have surged 25-30% in the ongoing Independence Day sales from last year's levels.
As per the report, attractive offers and new movie releases lifted footfall in malls by 15-20%, driving sales of eateries and other stores such as apparel and fashion. New smartphone models launched by Oppo, Samsung and Xiaomi, as well as offers in electronics, instalment schemes and bank-led instant discount programmes drove sales.

Executives have also told Economic Times that this robust buying signals a significant improvement in consumer sentiment just ahead of the crucial festive season. Consumption declined since the festive season last year. The decline was driven by high inflation, poor sentiment and job losses in some sectors. However, it has started to improve on-month from June and consumer goods companies are expecting a windfall in the gains as this year's festive season starts in a few weeks.&nbsp;
India's largest Retailer Reliance Retailer reported over 25% on-year growth in sales of electronic products boosted by smartphones and other high-ticket items such as television sets and refrigerators at its Reliance Digital Chain. Vijay Sales' Director Nilesh Gupta told Economic Times that the retailer saw a 10-12% jump in volume sales growth, or numbers of units sold, and average billing value went up by 5-7%. Vijay Sales operates 127 stores.&nbsp;
"There was a 10-12% jump in volume sales growth, or numbers of units sold, and average billing value went up by 5-7%," said its director, Nilesh Gupta. "This indicates consumers are upgrading, which is a positive sentiment before the festive season", Nilesh Gupta told Economic Times.
Similarly, Grocery retail chains also reported a 25-30% rise in Business from the year earlier.&nbsp;
On August 15, some malls and stores opened early and even planned to close late amid high footfall. Some sales are expected to continue on August 16.&nbsp; &nbsp;

On the occasion of India's 77th Independence Day, Google celebrates it by illustrating textile craftsmanship of India through its doodle.
The doodle has been illustrated by Delhi guest artist Namrata Kumar. The artist shared that the creative process behind this doodle work is the diverse textile craft forms present in India which cover a broad spectrum of techniques, like weaving styles, embroidery, hand painting among others.
She also ensures that the doodle represents different geographical regions of the country. For the doodle to look engaging, Kumar selected visually engaging textiles with an extensive list of textile craft forms. She composed a proper patchwork from all the textile swatches to make sure the proper visibility of each artwork.

Google has also shared a couple of questions answered by the artist like what her creative process was for this Doodle artwork. To which she has answered that she identified the textile craft forms and researched and identified the diverse textile craft forms present in different parts of the country. From techniques to embroidery, different weaving styles, printing techniques, resist-dyeing techniques, hand-painted textiles, and more she made sure she represented different geographical regions of the country in a balanced way.
She also said, "Indian textiles have held a profound significance in my life, thanks to my mother's profession as a textile designer. Growing up surrounded by textiles from diverse regions, I developed a deep connection to these craft forms. Now, presented with the opportunity to create the Google Doodle for India's Independence Day, I see it as the perfect occasion to celebrate the country's rich and diverse textile traditions. In this artwork, each textile showcased is a testament to the collective craftsmanship of skilled artisans, cultivators, weavers, dyers, printers, and embroiderers. Together, they create these extraordinary textiles that embody the essence of India's creative spirit."

India is all set to witness a grand Independence Day celebration in New Delhi, preparations for which are in full swing.

India is all set to witness a grand Independence Day celebration in New Delhi, preparations for which are in full swing.

Around 1,800 'special guests' from different walks of life, including several workers employed in the construction of the new Parliament building, have been invited to attend the 77th Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort on August 15.
Besides, 75 couples from each state and Union Territory, in their traditional attire, have been invited to witness the ceremony, the defence ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
As part of the celebrations, selfie points dedicated to different government schemes and initiatives have been installed at 12 locations, including the National War Memorial, India Gate and Vijay Chowk, it said.
A larger number of guests have been invited compared to last year. The invitation to the about 1,800 special guests has been extended in line with the government's vision of 'Jan Bhagidari', the ministry said.

Special care is being taken to ensure that essential services are not affected.

The entry of commercial and heavy vehicles will be restricted from Noida and Ghaziabad towards Delhi starting from Monday night till August 15. These vehicles will be regulated and diverted towards the alternate routes, officials with Delhi traffic police said on Sunday.
On the occasion of Independence Day, about 3,000 traffic police personnel will be deployed to regulate the traffic and will be deployed at major junctions across the national capital, and also on roads connecting the border to the Red Fort.
&ldquo;From the night of August 14 at 10 pm, entry of heavy and medium goods vehicles (vehicles carrying goods) will be stopped from Delhi's border, and entry will start only after the programme ends on the next day, August 15,&rdquo; Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav told ANI.
He said that there will be controlled movement of vehicles near the Red Fort on some parts of JLN Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Ring Road. Special care is being taken to ensure that essential services are not affected. A good number of policemen have been deployed around the Red Fort and will keep telling people the way, he added.
