While PM urges caution, Maharashtra BJP wants temples to re-open

On a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi&nbsp;specifically expressed concerns over the Covid-19 situation in Maharashtra, the BJP&nbsp;state unit held protests in parts of Maharashtra&nbsp;demanding re-opening of temples. The&nbsp; BJP&nbsp;argued that if the Shiv&nbsp;Sena-led govt can allow bars in the state to re-open it can also allow temples to re-open. The state BJP&nbsp;has been making this demand ever since Chief Minister Uddhav&nbsp;Thackeray decided to relax certain restrictions in Maharashtra.&nbsp;

Twitter on Tuesday flagged a tweet by US President Donald Trump that played down the Covid-19 pandemic and compared it to the seasonal flu. Twitter placed a warning label on the tweet, saying the post included potentially misleading information.&nbsp;"Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it, just like we are learning to live with Covid," Trump had tweeted hours after being discharged from hospital where he was admitted after testing positive for Covid. Earlier in the day, Facebook removed a similar post by Trump.

NGOs in India (2/2) - Impact in Numbers | Summachar 

With the FCRA amendments bill being passed recently, NGOs in India have come under the spotlight again. Let's understand more about NGOs and their impact in India.
Some 2015 stats on NGOs outline why NGOs are important from a social as well as political lens. As per these stats there were around 3 million NGOs in India. This was double the number of schools and 250 times the number of govt hospitals in the country at that time! India had 1 NGO per 400 citizens as compared to 1 policeman per 709 citizens.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
NGOs or non-governmental organisations work independently without any government intervention. In India, the term NGO is used as an umbrella term for different types of not-for-profit organizations or NPOs.
NPOs are formed as legal entities working for welfare but no working member shares its profit or loss. NGOs generally work towards societal causes, such as human rights, women's welfare, education and so on, whereas NPOs work in specific fields like promoting arts, science, research, etc. Not all NPOs are charitable organizations, and some may also be formed as a part of tax planning.
