Imran Tahir, the captain of Guyana Amazon Warriors, expressed his gratitude to R Ashwin for his prediction that their team would triumph in the CPL 2023 tournament after they clinched their first title.
During the post-match presentation following Amazon Warriors' nine-wicket victory over Trinbago Knight Riders, Tahir acknowledged Ashwin's prediction and expressed his appreciation to various individuals. He also made a point to those who had initially joked about his appointment as captain.

Reflecting on the journey, Tahir mentioned, "It's been a great experience playing for these beautiful people who always come and support us. I'm just grateful to the almighty first of all. Coming into the competition, everyone was sending jokes that I had become a captain, so I think actually those things motivated me, so I actually want to thank those people who said that, and I also want to thank my family, all the players' families, they've been on the road with us. It's been a great journey, very special journey."
Tahir also extended his gratitude to the team's analyst, Prasanna Agoram, for his dedicated efforts and valuable insights in strategizing. Additionally, he thanked Ashwin from India for his encouraging words before the competition, foreseeing their victory.
He said, &ldquo;Also want to thank our analyst Prasanna, he's been working every day, 20 hours a day, and giving me all the plans. I'm really, really grateful to him, and also want to thank Ashwin from India. He said before the competition that we will do it."
While Amazon Warriors secured the top spot in the league table, they faced a setback in the first Qualifier, losing to Trinbago Knight Riders. However, they made a strong comeback, bowling out Jamaica Tallawahs for 101 in the second Qualifier and restricting Knight Riders to just 94 runs in the final, ultimately claiming the CPL 2023 title.

The discussion around reviewing wides and no balls has resurfaced after Sanju Samson expressed his frustration during their match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday. 
Daniel Vettori, former New Zealand cricketer and Imran Tahir, the South African cricketer expressed their support for Samson and said that there should be DRS reviews for no-balls and wides. 
Vettori said that several times the umpires are wrong and the decision goes against the bowlers. The players should have some avenues towards rectifying these mistakes, he added. 
Tahir too, agreed with Vettori and said that there is not much for the bowlers, when batsmen are hitting you all over you don't have much choice than bowling wide yorkers and wide leg-breaks. If that becomes wide the bowlers are in trouble, he added.
Despite the slight movement of the batters, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh, umpire Nitin Pundit gave 3 wide calls in the 2nd last over that irked the skipper. Samson who was visibly unconvinced with the decision asked for a review. However, there is no DRS review for wides and height no-balls and the umpire's decision stood. Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh propelled Kolkata to a 7-wicket win as Rajasthan suffered their 2nd consecutive defeat.

This forced the entire squad to remain in extended isolation which pushed back their training schedule. Moreover, even before the start of the tournament, CSK&nbsp;suffered 2 casualties in Suresh&nbsp;Raina&nbsp;and Harbhajan Singh, who pulled out of the cash-rich league due to personal reasons.
