National award-winning singer and daughter of veteran composer Ilayaraja, Bhavatharini, died on Thursday because of cancer, as per multiple reports. Bhavatharini was in Sri Lanka, where she was reportedly undergoing treatment; she was 47. Kamal Haasan and many celebs tweeted about the &lsquo;heartbreaking news&rsquo;. On January 26, Kamal Haasan took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his condolence message. His tweet in Tamil is loosely translated as, "My heart aches. I don't know how to console my beloved brother Ilaiyaraaja. I will hold his hands through this. Bhavatharini's death cannot be tolerated or accepted. Ilaiyaraaja shouldn't give up dealing with this huge loss. My heartfelt condolences to Bhavatharini's family." Actor Silambarasan TR wrote on X, &ldquo;The voice that forever lives in the heart of people for its innocence and love! You were a pure soul! Gone too soon! I pray to God to give strength to the family of Illayaraja sir and my brother @thisisysr at this moment! Rest in peace Bhavatharini.&rdquo; &ldquo;Shocked and saddened #RIPBhavatharini Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends,&rdquo; said Anirudh Ravichander. Chinmayi posted, &ldquo;Bhavatharini Ilayaraja was one of the nicest people I knew. Safe travels, lovely girl. I wish and pray for strength to Raja sir, Karthik Raja, and Yuvan Shankar Raja. This is so heartbreaking.&rdquo; Best works of Bhavatharini Bhavatharini made her debut as a singer in Prabhu Deva's Raasaiya. Sprinter PT Usha and music composer Ilaiyaraaja, both legends, in their fields have been nominated to the Rajya Sabha along with noted screen writer V Vijayendra Prasad and Philanthropist Veerendra Heggade. 
The announcement of their nomination was made by Prime Minister Modi on Twitter. 
"The remarkable PT Usha Ji is an inspiration for every Indian. Her accomplishments in sports are widely known but equally commendable is her work to mentor budding athletes over the last several years. Congratulations to her on being nominated to the Rajya Sabha," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Twitter.
He also shared his pictures with Usha and Ilaiyaraaja along with his congratulatory messages in separate tweets.
"The creative genius of @ilaiyaraaja Ji has enthralled people across generations. His works beautifully reflect many emotions. What is equally inspiring is his life journey- he rose from a humble background and achieved so much. Glad that he has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha," Modi said.

Singer and actor SP Balasubrahmanyam&nbsp;who created magic in Bollywood over the years with songs like, Roop Suhana Lagta Hai,&nbsp;Dil Deewana,&nbsp;Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali,&nbsp;Pehla Pehla Pyar among many others is no more.&nbsp;
Fondly known as SPB&nbsp;and Balu in the industry circles,&nbsp;Balusubrahmanyam was&nbsp;born into an orthodox Telugu Brahmin family in Andhra Pradesh.&nbsp;
He took to singing as a hobby during his childhood and learnt to play instruments such as harmonium and flute on his own. &nbsp;&nbsp; The turning point in SPB's life came after he won&nbsp;a&nbsp;music competition for amateur singers in 1964, following which&nbsp;music director SP Kodandapani took him under his wing and the rest is history.&nbsp;
Before SPB became an actor &amp; a full-fledged singer, he also was a leader of a band, that had&nbsp;Ilaiyaraaja&nbsp;as a Guitarist and who later moved over to harmonium in it.&nbsp;
Bala Subrahmanyam&nbsp;made his debut as a singer on December 15 in 1966, and with a career spanning over 40 years, he recorded&nbsp;over&nbsp;40,000 songs&nbsp;in&nbsp;5 different Indian languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam.&nbsp;
SPB has also given voice for various artists like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Salman Khan, Bhagyaraj, Mohan, Girish Karnad, Gemini Ganesh, Nagesh, Karthik, Raghuvaran, Vinodkumar among many others.&nbsp;
SPB also holds the Guinness Book of World Record for having sung the most number of song recordings by any singer an award held by Lata Mangeshkar in the female category. He also holds the record of&nbsp;recording 21 songs in Kannada for the composer Upendra Kumar in Bangalore from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m on&nbsp;February 8, 1981.
Among many other achievements, he also has a record of recording 19 songs in Tamil in a day, and 16 songs in Hindi in a day.&nbsp;
SPB has 6 national awards to his credit and was conferred with Padma Shri in 2001 and&nbsp;Padma Bhushan in 2011.&nbsp;
