Brook&rsquo;s superb knock of 158 in the first innings of the second Test in Birmingham pushed his rating to 886 points, 18 clear of Root.

England&rsquo;s Harry Brook has reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the ICC Men&rsquo;s Test Batting Rankings, dethroning teammate Joe Root after a commanding performance against India, even as India&rsquo;s Shubman Gill and South Africa&rsquo;s Wiaan Mulder notched career-best positions across formats in the latest weekly rankings update.
Brook&rsquo;s superb knock of 158 in the first innings of the second Test in Birmingham pushed his rating to 886 points, 18 clear of Root. The Yorkshireman had previously reached the top in December last year but held the position only briefly. His latest surge ends Root&rsquo;s six-month reign at the summit.
While Brook topped the rankings, the Edgbaston Test truly belonged to Shubman Gill. The Indian captain became only the second player in Test history to score over 150 in both innings of a match &mdash; 269 and 161 &mdash; taking his aggregate to 430 runs, the second-highest in a single Test. His heroics propelled him 15 places up the ladder to a career-best No. 6. Gill had started the series ranked 23rd.
Among other notable movers from the same match, Ravindra Jadeja climbed six places to 39th after scoring 89 and an unbeaten 69. England&rsquo;s Jamie Smith broke into the top 10 for the first time, courtesy of his unbeaten 184 and 88 in the two innings, which lifted him 16 places.
India&rsquo;s pace duo Mohammad Siraj and Akash Deep made significant strides in the bowling charts. Siraj&rsquo;s match haul of seven wickets saw him move up six places to 22nd. Akash Deep, who picked up a maiden 10-wicket match haul, jumped 39 places to a career-best 45th.
Mulder Shines Across Formats South Africa&rsquo;s Wiaan Mulder enjoyed a record-breaking outing in Bulawayo, smashing an unbeaten 367 &mdash; the highest score ever by a South African batter in Tests. That innings, coupled with his three wickets in the match, led to a leap of 34 places in the batting rankings (now 22nd), four places among bowlers (48th), and most notably, to No. 3 in the all-rounders' list &mdash; behind only India&rsquo;s Jadeja and Bangladesh&rsquo;s Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Mulder, who tallied 531 runs and seven wickets in the two-Test series, had begun the series ranked 73rd among batters, 58th among bowlers, and 22nd as an all-rounder.
David Bedingham (up to 43rd) and Lhuan-dre Pretorius (60th) also improved in the batting rankings, while Corbin Bosch advanced six places to 51st among bowlers.
West Indies, Australia Test Also Influences Rankings In Grenada, the second Test between the West Indies and Australia saw several movements. Cameron Green (up to 45th) and Beau Webster (50th) made gains for Australia, while West Indies&rsquo; Roston Chase (81st) and Brandon King (up 60 places to 83rd) saw upward movement in the batting charts. Bowlers Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph climbed to 29th and 31st, respectively.
Sri Lankans Break into ODI Top 10 In ODIs, Sri Lanka&rsquo;s series win over Bangladesh brought notable changes. Kusal Mendis&rsquo; century in the final match earned him a top-10 debut in the batting rankings, while Charith Asalanka moved to sixth after scoring 106 in the opener. Janith Liyanage rose to 44th, and Bangladesh&rsquo;s Towhid Hridoy to 51st.
On the bowling front, Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga made a return to the top 10, climbing 11 places to eighth.

Swashbuckling India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant continued his ascent in the ICC Test Rankings, moving up to sixth place in the latest list released on Wednesday.
Pant, who became only the second wicketkeeper in Test history to score two centuries in the same match during the first Test against England last week, gained one spot to reach a new career-best rating of 801. He now trails top-ranked batter Joe Root by just 88 points.
This marks a return to familiar territory for Pant, who had reached a career-high fifth spot during the same period in 2022.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal retained his fourth position to remain the highest-ranked Indian, while captain Shubman Gill slipped one spot to 21st.
At the top, Root maintained his slender lead following scores of 28 and 53 not out in the Headingley Test. His teammate and No.2 ranked batter Harry Brook remains 15 rating points behind.
England opener Ben Duckett reached a career-best ranking, rising to eighth place following his match-winning 149 in the second innings at Leeds.
In the bowling charts, India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah continued to reign supreme with 907 rating points, consolidating his position at the top after a five-wicket match haul against England.
South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and Australia captain Pat Cummins held on to the second and third spots respectively. Josh Hazlewood moved up one place to fourth, displacing Pakistan spinner Noman Ali.
Meanwhile, India's Ravindra Jadeja retained his position as the No.1 Test all-rounder despite a relatively quiet outing in the recent Test.&nbsp;

India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana on Tuesday moved up one spot to be ranked third in the ICC rankings for batters in women&rsquo;s T20 Internationals.
Mandhana, who is already world No. 1 in ODIs, made the leap after her maiden century in the opening T20I of the five-match series against England last week in which she also stood in for injured skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.
Mandhana smacked 15 fours and three sixes to make 112 off 62 balls to power India to a 97-run victory against England at Nottingham, which was also the biggest defeat in terms of runs for the hosts in the shortest format.
The left-handed Indian opener now has a career-high of 771 rating points and is ranked third, behind West Indies&rsquo; Hayley Matthews, who is second with 774 points, and Australia&rsquo;s Beth Mooney at the top with 794 points.
Among other Indian batters, comeback opener Shafali Verma and Harleen Deol also made gains.
"Fellow Indian opener Shafali Verma gains one place to move to 13th on the same rankings list following her innings of 20 in the same match against England, while teammate Harleen Deol re-enters the batter rankings in equal 86th after a quickfire knock of 43," the ICC said in a release.
Meanwhile, England fast bowler Lauren Bell moved up two places to reach fourth in the rankings for bowlers after her three-wicket haul in the first T20I against India.
The ICC added, &ldquo;Pakistan spinner Sadia Iqbal remains at the top of the list for T20I bowlers, but it's tight at the top with just 44 rating points separating the top 10 players.&rdquo; South Africa&rsquo;s Miane Smit moved to 76th with her maiden half-century against the West Indies while teammate Sune Luus moved up nine spots to reach 31 in list of the all-rounders.

India now have 121 rating points, with Australia moving down to second with 116 rating points.

Rohit Sharma's men ended Australia's reign after 15 months at the top of the ICC rankings. The two sides will face each other in the World Test Championship final next month, and India had recently beaten the Aussies 2-1 in Border-Gavaskar Trophy.&nbsp;
Before the annual rankings update, Australia were top with 122 points while India trailed them by 3 points. But now, with series completed since May 2020 only taken into account, India have 121 point and they have leapfrogged the Kangaroos, who are at 116.
Team India now occupy the top spot in both Tests &amp; T20Is, while they are ranked 3rd in ODIs.

38-year-old Mithali&nbsp;scored just 87 runs at an average of 29 in the recently-concluded 3-match ODI&nbsp;series vs Australia and her streak of 5 consecutive half centuries also came to an end.
However, veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami&nbsp;climbed 2 places to the second spot in the bowlers rankings. Jhulan&nbsp;had a decent series Down Under which included a 3 wicket performance in the final ODI&nbsp;which India won.

Indian skipper Virat&nbsp;Kohli&nbsp;slumped to the 5th position in the latest ICC&nbsp;Test rankings for batsmen released on Wednesday. Kohli&nbsp;who scored 11 and 72 in the first Test in Chennai was earlier ranked 4th.
His English&nbsp;counterpart Joe Root, however, rose to 3rd after 3 consecutive hundreds, converting 2 of those into double tons. In the Test rankings for bowlers, Ashwin&nbsp;and Bumrah both climbed one spot to be 7th and 8th respectively.
James Anderson was probably the biggest gainer who leapfrogged to 3rd place from 6th, which is now his highest Test ranking since the start of the World Test Championship. While New&nbsp;Zealand's Kane Williamson rules the batsmen ranking, Australian bowler Pat Cummins&nbsp;sits at the top of the bowling ranking.&nbsp;
