An IAS officer and his brother were booked by Mumbai police on January 3 for allegedly thrashing two telecom service providers over a Wi-Fi router issue.

Two men working for a leading telecom service provider were allegedly thrashed by an IAS officer and his brother at the latter's residence in Navi Mumbai over an Internet router issue, police said on Wednesday.
Four security guards of the residential society also allegedly joined the brother duo in attacking the two men with pipe and wooden sticks on December 30 evening, an official said quoting the FIR.
The accused are identified as IAS officer Aman Mittal, currently posted as Maharashtra water supply and sanitation department deputy secretary, and his brother Devesh Mittal, besides the four security guards.
"Two men who work for Airtel fibre internet installation service had visited the residence of Devesh Mittal to fix an internet router issue. An argument broke out between the duo and Mittals who claimed they are not getting the expected Internet range in the bedroom," the official said quoting the FIR lodged by Sagar Mandhre (27), who works as an engineer for Airtel.
Mandhre stated that he was attacked by Aman Mittal and his brother Devesh who were joined by four security guards of the building with a pipe and wooden sticks. They also thrashed Mandhre's colleague Bhushan Gujar, who works in the sales team, the official said.
The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed on the premises of the building, he added.
"After some time, Aman Mittal called up Rabale police station, following which police personnel reached the spot and took Mandhre and Gujar to the police station," he said.
A case was registered against the Mittal brothers and four security guards under Indian Penal Code sections pertaining to causing hurt by dangerous weapon or other means and wrongful confinement, the official said.
The IAS officer lodged a cross-complaint against Mandhre and Gujar stating that they attacked him with the router machine.
Based on Mittal's complaint, an offence was registered under section 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon or means) of the IPC against Mandhre and Gujar, he said, adding that further investigation is underway.
Nobody has been arrested so far.

Dugga and her husband, also an IAS officer, landed in trouble last year after they allegedly emptied Thyagraj Stadium to walk her dog. The civil servant couple were then transferred out of Delhi, with Dugga ending up in Arunachal Pradesh.
&ldquo;Orders have been issued compulsorily retiring Dugga based on her track record,&rdquo; the unidentified officer told Indian Express. &ldquo;The government has the right to retire any government servant if it is of the opinion that it is in the public interest to do so,&rdquo; the officer added.
The two were seen walking their dog in an empty stadium, sparking outrage in the country. Many politicians also intervened with sharp statements about the duo.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has sought explanation from a senior IAS officer over her "inappropriate and highly objectionable" remark to a student who asked about affordable sanitary napkins.
According to media reports, when the girl student from Bihar asked why the government could not provide sanitary pads, Harjot Kaur Bhamra responded, "Tomorrow, you attain the age of family planning and you would expect the government to provide 'nirodh' (condoms) too." The NCW said it had observed that such "insensitive attitude" from a person at a responsible position was condemnable and extremely shameful.
"NCW has taken cognizance of the matter. Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to Harjot Kaur Bhamra, IAS, seeking explanation over her inappropriate and highly objectionable remarks," the women's panel said in a statement.

In an order, the Home Ministry said Khirwar, a 1994-batch IAS officer from AGMUT cadre, is shifted to Ladakh and his wife to Arunachal Pradesh with immediate effect. According to official sources, the home ministry had sought a report from the Delhi Chief Secretary on the news report regarding the <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/gross-misuse-of-power-practice-session-of-athletes-truncated-so-ias-officer-can-walk-dog-report-1653552374236" target="_blank">misuse of facilities at Thyagraj Stadium by Khirwar and his wife</a>.
The chief secretary submitted a report to the MHA in the evening on the factual position, prompting the ministry to order their transfer, they said. Coaches and athletes said that they have to train earlier in the heat as practice has to end early. Several said that they shifted training to Jahawarlal&nbsp;Nehru Stadium, not too far from the Thyagraj&nbsp;stadium.&nbsp;

In Delhi's Thyagraj&nbsp;Stadium, constructed for the Commonwealth games and run by the state government, training was reportedly forced to wrap up by 7 pm. According&nbsp;to the&nbsp;athletes and coaches, they would wrap up by 8-8:30 earlier, as it was more suitable to the hot weather of the national capital.
An expose in the Indian Express alleged that Delhi's Principal Secretary (Revenue) Sanjeev&nbsp;Khirwar&nbsp;walks his dog daily and the ground was cleared for security purposes.&nbsp;
The report says they visited the stadium to follow up on the allegation to find that security guards would clear out the stadium by 7 pm.

Indian Express quoted&nbsp;Khirwar, a 1994-batch IAS&nbsp;officer, as having said that the allegation was 'absolutely incorrect' and that he 'sometimes' takes his pet for a walk, but Khirwar denied disrupting the practice sessions.&nbsp;

The Kanpur Commissioner posted a picture of himself from his kitchen with a pan of poha on the gas stove.
"Please wish me good luck. Trying my luck in cooking...Preparing the poha for the breakfast under guidance of Home Minister [sic]," he captioned the post.
But Twitterati was quick to spot that the gas burner under his cooking pot was not lit.
Many had a field day at the expense of the IAS officer who was seen dressed in a suit with earphone plugged in while "cooking".
Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi used the pic as an opportunity to take a dig at the rising cost of cooking gas.
"Also thank you for sending a strong message to the government for making cooking gas so unaffordable that cooking can be done without it, the heat instead of the stove comes from collective anger," she wrote back.

SHO Mishra said the case against Singh has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Information Technology Act, the Disaster Management Act and the UP Public Health and Epidemic Diseases Control Ordinance, 2020.
