Homegrown, Tata Motors has become the 2nd largest carmaker in the month of May 2022.According to reports, Tata Motors' total sales jumped to 43,341 units while Hyundai’s total domestic sales for the month of May 2022 stood at 42,293.
The company's domestic sales increased three folds to 74,755 units from 24,552 units in May 2021, Tata Motors said in a statement.
Total passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers more than doubled to 43,341 units as against 15,181 units in the year-ago month.
Similarly, domestic commercial vehicle sales surged to 31,414 units last month against 9,371 units in the same period last year.
This is the company's highest ever monthly sales since inception – PV and EV domestic combined - led by robust dispatch of Nexon, Harrier and Safari.
The automajor also reported the highest ever dispatches of electric vehicles last month at 3,454 units, up from 476 units in the same period last year.

Hyundai Creta Bookings

Hyundai India has announced that the new-gen Creta bookings have crossed the 1.15 lakh mark. The car was launched in March this year, just ahead of the nationwide lockdown being imposed and even during the lockdown, the Creta has been the front runner in the compact SUV segment when it comes to sales. In fact, the company has also said that the wholesale figures for the new generation Creta now stands at 58,400 units. The new Creta&rsquo;s success has helped Hyundai India capture a market share of 26 per cent between January and September this year in the compact SUV segment. The BlueLink connected tech equipped versions have been well received with nearly 25,000 customers opting for these variants. The diesel version continues to contribute 60 per cent to the Creta&rsquo;s total sales.
