This is a festive offering by India's largest bank that is not only pulling rates to the lowest level in a decade but also making them available to both salaried and non-salaried people.

The big move is the cut across all loan amounts, earlier a borrower availing a loan greater than Rs 75 lakh, had to pay an interest rate of 7.15%. With the new rates the interest burden is brought down by a whole 45 basis points.&nbsp;
<h3>SBI&nbsp;home loan rate cut, how everyone benefits</h3>
The rate of interest applicable for a non-salaried borrower was 15 bps higher than the interest rate applicable to a salaried borrower in the past. The new rate of 6.7% is applicable to both as&nbsp;SBI has said that it has removed this distinction.&nbsp;

The bank has reduced rates by 15 bps and the new rate is effective from September 10.&nbsp;Kotak&nbsp;was already offering the lowest home loan rates amongst peers where the range for loans upto&nbsp;Rs 50 lakh&nbsp;ranged from&nbsp;6.66%-7.05%.&nbsp;&nbsp;Private bank peers HDFC&nbsp;Bank and ICICI&nbsp;bank currently offer home loan rates at 6.75% in the same bracket.&nbsp;
Banks are facing stiff competition from housing finance companies that are offering rates as low as PSU&nbsp;leader SBI&nbsp;at 6.66%.&nbsp;

In a move to attract new budget home buyers, SBI will now offer a&nbsp;6.70% rate for loans up to ₹30 lakhs and 6.95% for loans between ₹30 lakhs&nbsp;to ₹75 lakhs. Home loans above ₹75 lakhs will attract an interest rates of 7.05%.
At the current rate SBI&nbsp;is in direct competition for home loans from ICICI&nbsp;Bank and HDFC&nbsp;Bank. Axis bank however continues to have loan rates closer to 6.9%
