Devotees celebrated Holi at Varanasi's Manikarnika Ghat, where they smeared each other with dry colours and ash around burning pyres.
According to tradition, the ash is collected from the pyres on the occasion of Rangbhari Ekadashi and celebrated the day after, at the Mahashmashan cremation ground.
