The Begumpet airport in the city on Wednesday received a bomb threat via email, which turned out to be a hoax, police said.
The airport authorities received the email on Wednesday morning, and thorough checks were conducted at the premises by the bomb disposal squad and other security wings.
Fire service was also deployed during the checks, police said, adding that the bomb threat was found to be a hoax.
Further investigation was underway.
The airport at Begumpet in the heart of the city is not used for passenger services, and only VIP aircraft are operated from the facility.
Meanwhile, a bomb threat mail targeting a Qatar Airways cargo flight was received at the RGI airport on city outskirts on Wednesday, which was found to be hoax after thorough checks.
The email claimed the presence of a human bomb in the cargo flight and the threat turned out to be a hoax, police said.
The mail was sent to the customer care id of the airport in the morning and all procedures were followed as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), airport sources said.
As per the SOP, an emergency was declared in the airport, fire and security teams were put on standby till the aircraft landed safely and a temporary bomb threat assessment committee (comprising representatives of airport security, police and others) was also formed.
The aircraft landed safely and it was taken to an isolation bay and thorough checks were carried out, they said.

A 24-year-old trainee ticketing agent of British Airways was arrested for allegedly making a hoax bomb call in a Delhi-Pune SpiceJet plane here at the IGI airport, police said on Friday.
The accused made the call so that his childhood friends could spend more time with their girlfriends, who were going to Pune, at the Delhi airport, police said.
The accused has been identified as Abhinav Prakash and is a resident of the national capital's Dwarka Sector-22, they said, adding that his both the friends fled when they heard about the arrest of Prakash.
On Thursday, information was received at the Spicejet call center regarding a bomb in flight number SG-8938, which was bound to depart from Delhi to Pune at 9.30 pm.
The flight, having 182 passengers and crew members, was immediately taken to the isolation bay. All the passengers and their luggage were properly checked and frisked by the CISF, the officer said, adding that the aircraft was also thoroughly checked and no suspicious item was found.
During investigation, police found that the phone number from which the hoax call was made belonged to Prakash, following which a raid was conducted and he was arrested, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport) Ravi Kumar Singh said.
Prakash disclosed that his childhood friends Rakesh and Kunal Sehrawat recently visited Manali and became friends with two women there, Singh said.
Both the women were going to Pune on Thursday via flight number SG-8938.
His friends told him that they wanted to spend some more time with their girlfriends and instigated him to find out a plan to somehow delay their departure, the DCP said.
The three made a plan of making a hoax bomb call at the call centre of Spicejet Airlines in order to cancel the flight. Prakash called the customer care of the airlines and passed the message that &ldquo;There is a bomb in flight No. SG-8938", Singh said.
When the Spicejet officials tried to reach him, he stopped picking up their calls. The accused persons contacted the women who were on-board and when they came to know that the flight has been delayed or stopped they celebrated the execution of their plan, police said.
When Sehrawat and Rakesh got to know about the news of Prakash's arrest, they fled and since then efforts are being made to arrest them, police said, adding that Prakash was working as a trainee with British Airways ticketing centre in DLF Qutub Plaza, Gurgaon for the last seven months

The Chennai resident wanted to prevent two of his family members from flying to Dubai and made the threat call to the city police control room, prompting the security agencies to launch a full-scale search inside the IndiGo flight that was originally scheduled to depart at 7.20 am on Saturday, airport and police officials said.&nbsp;
Following the threat call, the flight was checked thoroughly but a thorough check was undertaken by the security agencies to ascertain if any explosive items were planted in the flight.&nbsp;

However, no such items were found on the aircraft, with officials and others heaving a sigh of relief.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, the call was traced to a man in the city who wanted to stop his relatives from flying to Dubai and he was promptly picked up by the police.&nbsp;
The flight will proceed towards its destination later in the day, officials added.&nbsp;
Around 180 passengers and crew members of the flight were provided accommodation.&nbsp;
