Covid: 1 in 5 patients with comorbidities dies, shows data

People with comorbidities are 15 times more likely to die if infected by coronavirus than those with no underlying conditions

Nearly one in every five patients, or 18% of the people, with so-called comorbidities who contract Covid-19 in India die of the viral disease, the Hindustan Times has reported quoting the health ministry data. The percentage of deaths among patients with no underlying medical conditions is just is 1.2%. This means that people with comorbidities are 15 times more likely to die if infected by coronavirus than those with no underlying conditions. Comorbidity refers to the existence of multiple medical conditions such hypertension, diabetes, heart, liver or kidney disease.

Delhi Police on Wednesday accepted its goof-up and said that they are &ldquo;taking steps for the security and safety of the witnesses&rdquo;, the report added.

The Hindustan Times reported that the NCB&nbsp;arrested&nbsp;Rhea's brother&nbsp;Showik&nbsp;on the statements of&nbsp;Zaid Vilatra and Abdul Basit Parihar&nbsp;however&nbsp;both the accused's&nbsp;claimed that their statements were forcefully recorded by the officials.
Meanwhile,&nbsp;Mutha Ashok Jain, Deputy DG of the NCB, told the media that Rhea who was quizzed by the authorities for the second day on Monday&nbsp;is cooperating with them.&nbsp;
