The local meteorological office has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain in isolated areas of two to seven districts in the state till August 30.
Education institutes, except the residential ones, were shut in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Mandi, Una and Solan districts in view of the alert, officials said.
The orders were issued late on Sunday night in Hamirpur and Una districts. In Bilaspur, Mandi and Solan, the administration's decision was communicated to parents on Monday morning.
Moderate to heavy rains have been reported in several parts of the state since Sunday night. A total of 484 roads, including two national highways, remained closed for vehicular traffic on Sunday night.
Among these, 245 roads were closed in Mandi district and 102 in the adjoining Kullu. The National Highway 154 A connecting Chamba and Pathankot, and the NH 305, connecting Aut and Sainj, were also closed, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) said. According to officials, 941 power supply transformers and 95 water supply schemes have been disrupted in the state.
Between June 20, the onset of monsoon, and August 24, at least 155 people have died in Himachal Pradesh in rain-related incidents, while 37 have gone missing, the SEOC said.
It added that the state has witnessed 77 flash floods, 40 cloudbursts and 79 major landslides so far. Himachal Pradesh has incurred losses to the tune of Rs 2,348 crore in rain-related incidents, it added.
The state received 662.3 mm of average rainfall during the current monsoon season from June 1 to August 24 against an average of 571.4 mm, an excess of 16 per cent.

Kasauli has received 145 mm of rain since Tuesday night, Dharampur 122.8 mm, Gohar 120 mm, Malraon 103.2 mm, Baggi 95.9 mm, Nagrota Suriyan 93.4 mm, Naina Devi 86.4 mm, Sundernagar 80.3 mm, Kangra 71.4 mm, Bilaspur 70.4 mm, Dhaulakuan 67 mm, Mandi 65.8 mm, Shimla 64.4 mm and Dharamshala 64 mm, according to the meteorological centre.
The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) said 617 roads, including four national highways, were cut off on Wednesday. Of these, 377 are in Mandi district, which was recently battered by cloudbursts, landslides and flash floods; and 90 are in Kullu district.
Chandigarh-Manali National Highway (NH 21), Old Hindustan-Tibet Road (NH 05), Mandi-Dharampur (NH 3) and Aut-Sainj road (NH 305) were closed for vehicular traffic following landslides. Shimla-Kalka National Highway, which was blocked at Chakki Mor near Koti in Solan district, has been opened for vehicular movement, the officials said.
Commuters faced a hard time as road closures led to traffic jams at several places.
Educational institutions, including schools, colleges and anganwadis, were closed in Sunni, Kumarsein, Chopal, Dodra Kwar, Jubbal, Theog and Rampur subdivisions of Shimla district, Karsog and Sundernagar in Mandi district, Nirmand in Kullu district, and some subdivisions in Solan district.
Several schools in Shimla city announced holidays or switched to online classes.
The Kinnaur district administration suspended the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra after heavy rain led to significant damage along the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra route. Bridges at Tanglippi and Kangarang have been washed away due to the increased water flow in the streams, according to the officials.
Most of the trekking paths have become either dangerously slippery or have been hit by landslides, posing a serious threat to the safety of pilgrims. In view of these adverse conditions, the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra is being temporarily suspended until further notice, the official order said.
Pilgrims currently on the route have been safely sheltered at Milling Khata and Gufa, and all necessary arrangements have been made for their safety.
Kinnaur Kailash, considered to be the winter residence of Lord Shiva, is located at an altitude of 19,850 feet.
The yatra began on July 15 and was to continue till August 30.
Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) officials cautioned people about disruption in water supply for the next two-three days due to high turbidity at the source.
Since the onset of monsoon on June 20, Himachal Pradesh has incurred losses totalling Rs 1,852 crore. Around 108 people have died in rain-related incidents while 36 are missing. Additionally, 1,491 power distribution transformers and 265 water supply schemes have been affected, the SEOC said.
It said 1,738 houses have been fully or partially damaged in the state, which has witnessed 55 flash floods, 28 cloudbursts and 48 major landslides so far.

A total of 310 roads including NH 305 (Aut to Sainj) have been closed for vehicular traffic as of Monday morning. The majority of these, 171 roads, are in the disaster-affected Mandi district, while 68 are in Kullu district, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) informed.
Additionally, 113 power distribution transformers and 236 water supply schemes have been affected across the state, the SEOC added.
Since the onset of the monsoon on June 20, the state has incurred losses totalling Rs 1,714 crore till date.
According to the SEOC, as many as 1,649 houses have been fully or partially damaged in the state, with Himachal Pradesh witnessing 53 flash floods, 28 cloudbursts and 47 major landslides so far.
Officials said the number of rain-related deaths has reached 103 with 36 people still missing. The fatalities include 20 drownings, 19 deaths from falls, 17 deaths from cloudbursts, eight from flash floods, and six from landslides.

Mandi received 198.6 mm of rain since Monday evening. The fury of rain was so intense that gushing waters in Sukati nallahs (drains) flowing through the city swept huge mounds of debris which entered several locations in about five-kilometer radius and the worst affected was Jail Road, Saini Mohalla and Zonal hospital area.
"Three people died, one sustained injuries while one woman is missing, Deputy Commissioner, Mandi, Apoorva Devgan told PTI on Tuesday, adding that rescue operations are in full swing and about 15-20 people have been rescued.
A relief camp has been set up at Vipasha Sadan as several houses have been damaged and some people have shifted to safer places and taken shelter at homes of their friends and relatives, he said.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police and home guard have been pressed into rescue operations, while teams of the Public Works Department, Electricity and the Jal Shakti Department are also on the field to clear roads and restore power supply, the DC added.
Meanwhile, schools, colleges and anganwadi centres were closed on Tuesday in Mandi Sadar subdivision following closure of several roads due to landslides and flash floods, officials said.
Videos of debris scattering all around the residential colonies, buried vehicles, debris and gushing waters entering houses and people engaged in rescue work has gone viral on the internet.
The Chandigarh-Manali National Highway has been closed at 4 Mile, 9 Mile and Dwada as the road stretches have been washed away.
The fresh disaster adding to the woes of the people and the administration came after a month of monsoon mayhem in the Mandi district in which 15 people died in Seraj, Nachan, Dharampur and Karsog Assembly constituencies on the night of June 30-July 1.
Leader of the Opposition and former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur, local MLA Anil Sharma and DC Mandi were on the spot. Thakur said that this year massive devastation has been caused in Mandi due to heavy rains.
Moderate to very heavy rains lashed several parts of the state, and Mandi received 198.6 mm of rain since Monday evening followed by Pandoh 124 mm, Kataula 89.1 mm, Dehra Gopipur 74 mm, Berthin 72.4 mm, Nadaun and Una 72 mm each, Gohar and Sujanpur Tira 66 mm, Kahu 59.4 mm, Raipur Maidan 55.6 mm, Neri 54.5 mm, Malraon 52 mm and Amb 50 mm.
The administration has warned people not to go near river Beas and its tributaries as they are flowing around the danger mark.
Meanwhile, landslides triggered by incessant rains also blocked the Shimla-Mataur National Highway at Old Kangra Ghat, and reports of uprooting of trees and electricity have also poured from several parts of the state.
The Local Met office had issued an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated areas of Kangra, Mandi and Kullu districts on Tuesday.
It also issued yellow warning of heavy rains at isolated places in Chamba, Shimla and Sirmaur districts on Tuesday, and Una, Kangra, Mandi and Kullu districts on Wednesday.
Since the onset of monsoon in the state on June 20 till the evening of July 28, Himachal Pradesh has suffered losses to the tune of Rs 1523 crore. So far 90 people have died and 35 have gone missing in rain-related incidents and 1320 houses have been fully or partially damaged in the state.
A total of 200 roads, including 121 in the disaster-hit Mandi district, were closed for vehicular traffic on Monday night and 62 power distribution transformers and 110 water supply schemes have also been affected across the state, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).
However, the number is likely to go up after the latest update.

Ramesh had stepped out to divert the flow of water entering the house, while his wife and mother followed to help. They did not return.
Neetika has been declared a &ldquo;child of the state&rdquo; under the Chief Minister Sukh-Aashray Yojana of the Himachal Pradesh government, a senior official said.
Talking to PTI Videos, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi said, "The state government takes full responsibility of the little girl's upbringing, education and future as part of a long-term plan. Whatever this girl wants to become in the future, a doctor, an engineer or an officer, the government will bear all expenses." Several benefits are provided to orphans (children of the state) under the Sukh-Ashray scheme launched in 2023, which includes providing food, shelter, clothing, higher education, and skill development to unmarried orphans between 18 and 27 years of age who have no place to live and are unemployed.
The children get clothing and festival allowance, inter or intra-state annual exposure visits, stipend to meet personal expenses while pursuing higher education, vocational training or skill development, funds for startup and grants for building a house.
On the fateful night, Neetika was found crying alone in the house by neighbour Prem Singh, who informed her relative Balwant, a personal security officer for former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur.
At present, the child is living with her aunt Kirna Devi, the younger sister of the deceased Ramesh, in Shikauri village, about 20 km away from Talwara village.

Authorities announced on Monday morning that schools in several subdivisions in four districts of the state would remain closed on Monday due to landslides and road blockages following heavy rains.
The educational institutions were closed in Theog, Rohru, Jubbal, Chopal and Kumarsain in Shimla district, Thunag and Karsog in Mandi district, Ani in Kullu district, and Shillai in Sirmaur district.
However, the delayed announcement caused inconvenience for students and parents.
Of the 471 affected roads, the maximum -- 310 -- were in disaster-hit Mandi district, while 1,199 power distribution transformers and 676 water supply schemes have also been affected, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).
National Highway 707 (Hatkoti to Poanta Sahib) is closed near Shillia in Sirmaur district, Mandi-Kullu National Highway is blocked near the 4-mile and 9-mile as debris continues to fall on the road, obstructing vehicular traffic and the Pathankot-Bilaspur National Highway is also blocked, officials said.
A vehicle was buried under a landslide near Thalot in Mandi, while the Nakrod-Thalli Bridge was washed away in the Chamba district. In Shimla, the Jubbarhatti road was shut, leaving office goers stranded for hours.
Heavy rains have lashed several parts of the state since Sunday night. Kangra received the maximum rainfall at 147.4 mm, followed by Nagrota Suriyan (127.4 mm), Chuwari (118.3 mm), Mandi (112.4 mm), Jogindernagar (100 mm), Nahan (95.7 mm), and Pandoh (86 mm) among others.
Since the onset of the monsoon on June 20, 72 people have died and 34 have gone missing in rain-related incidents across the state.
Himachal Pradesh has also experienced 34 flash floods, 22 cloudbursts, and 21 landslides this monsoon season, resulting in losses of approximately Rs 1,235 crore, the department said.

Officials said two bodies were recovered this morning. While seven bodies were recovered from Gohar, five were from Thunag and one in Karsog subdivisions of Mandi district.
Over 150 houses, 104 cattle sheds, 31 vehicles, 14 bridges and several roads were damaged in the calamities. A total of 162 cattle perished in the calamities, while 370 people, including 316 in Mandi, were rescued and five relief camps have been set up, the state emergency operation centre (SEOC), said.
The Manali-Keylong road was blocked following floods in a drain near Solang Nallah and the traffic has been diverted through Rohtang Pass. Men and machinery has been deployed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), officials said.
A total of 261 roads, including 186 in Mandi district, are closed for traffic in the state while 599 transformers and 797 water supply schemes have been disrupted due to heavy rains in the past few days, the SEOC added.
Both Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur had visited the affected areas on Wednesday. Sukhu assured locals that if any government land is available nearby, it will be allotted to those who lost their homes. "In case the land falls under forests, the matter will be taken up with the Union government," he added.
Thakur said the number of missing people could rise.
Rations should be air-dropped in areas where roads have been damaged, he said.

Cloudbursts were reported at four locations in Gohar, three in Karsog, two in Dharampur, and one in Thunag, Mandi.
Two bodies were recovered in Siyanj, Gohar, and one each in Thunag, Dhar Jarol, and Pandeev Sheel areas, officials reported. The identities of the deceased have not yet been disclosed.
On Tuesday, two deaths were recorded in Bada and one in Talwara, both in Gohar; one person died in Old Bazaar, Karsog; and one body was recovered at Neri-Kotla in Jogindernagar.
A total of 282 roads were closed in the state following heavy rains and 1361 transformers and 639 water schemes were disrupted.

Kasauli received 55 mm of rain since the previous evening, followed by Baggi with 54.8 mm, Dharampur with 38.8 mm, Mandi with 36.8 mm, Sarahan with 32 mm, Solan with 27.4 mm, Pandoh with 27 mm, Jubbarhatti with 26.2 mm, and Shimla with 24.2 mm.

Cloudburst and flash floods triggered by heavy rains battered Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district, leaving one person dead and around 12 missing, officials said on Tuesday.
Mandi received extensively high rainfall of 216.8 mm since Monday evening.
Deputy Commissioner, Mandi, Apoorv Devgan told PTI that one person died while 12-13 are missing.
The death was reported in Karsog while about seven people belonging to two families are missing in Syanj in Mandi.
Devgan said several people have been rescued and shifted to safe places as cloudbursts and flash floods following heavy rains caused extensive damage at several places in the district.
Reports of damage to houses and agricultural land has been receieved. Roads and vehicles have been washed away in Karsog's Purana Bazar (Panjrat), Kutti, Baral, Mamel and Bhyal villages.
A dozen houses, cow sheds, horses, cattle and goats have been reportedly washed away due to heavy rains in Syathi village of Laungni panchayat of Mandi, while water has entered the houses of people in Patikari Power Project near Pandoh.
All the rivers and streams in the district are in full spate and over 1.5 lakh cusecs of water has been released from the Pandoh Dam in Beas river.
The water level of Pandoh Dam has reached 2,922 feet against the danger mark of 2,941 feet.
The Chandigarh-Manali four-lane is currently blocked at multiple locations, including nine miles, Dwada, Jhalogi, and Banala while the route via Kamand-Kataula-Bajaura is open for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) only.
General public has been advised to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary, Mandi police said.
Reports of losses to 'kutcha' houses, water supply and power schemes are also coming in from Hamirpur district and people are forced to move on foot as the road from Sujanpur Tira to Sandhol on the left bank of Beas river is partially submerged and blocked for vehicular traffic.
About 15 migrants struck in floods were rescued from khairi gram panchayat of Sujanpur and the teams of Indian Reserve Battalion Jungelberi and police were engaged in rescue works.
Following heavy rains, the district administrations of Mandi and Hamirpur have closed schools on Tuesday.
However, students had already reached schools as information to this effect was not delivered on time in Hamirpur district, according to locals.
The weather department has warned of low to moderate flash-flood risk in parts of six districts of Chamba, Hamirpur, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Solan in the next 24 hours.

As monsoon remained active in Himachal Pradesh, news of rain-induced damages, building collapse, landslides and road blockades poured in on Monday.
A five-storey building collapsed in Bhattakufer in the suburbs of Shimla on Monday morning, while several cows from a shed washed away in the cloudburst in Rampur.
The building at Mathu Colony on the road to Chamiyana Super Speciality Hospital caved in, albeit without casualties as the district administration, sensing grave risk, had already evacuated the inmates. However, two adjoining buildings were also endangered.
"We vacated the building on Sunday night as the land was sliding after Saturday's rain. The building collapsed around 8.15 am on Monday morning," said its owner Ranjana Verma, adding that a four-lane road construction had endangered the structure but no measures were taken to ensure its safety.
According to Chamiyana gram panchayat Up Pradhan Yashpal Verma, cracks had developed in the building last year but officials of the company constructing the kaithlighat-Dhalli four-lane road had assured that the building was safe.
Verma said the panchayat had written to the company to stop work as it was rendering buildings unsafe. However, they continued construction activities, leading to the collapse of the building.
"Negligence by the construction company led to the collapse of the building," he said. Meanwhile, two cowsheds, along with three cows and two calves, a kitchen and a room of a residence were washed away in the cloudburst at Sikaseri village, Sarpara gram panchayat in Rampur. The residence belonged to Rajinder Kumar, Vinod Kumar and Gopal, all sons of Palas Ram. However, there was no loss to human life.
In July last year, a cloudburst had claimed 21 lives in Samej under Sarpara panchayat.
Meanwhile, after incessant rains triggered landslides, shooting stones rolled down at five places on the four-lane Shimla-Chandigarh national highway. Subsequently, traffic was diverted to a single lane, causing jams.
The situation prevailed along the highway at Chakki Mor near Koti in Solan district as well. Shooting stones disrupted traffic and commuters were forced to drive past a single lane at snail's pace.
The Subathu-Waknaghat road was also closed after a landslide at Delgi in Solan district. Authorities said efforts are on to clear the road.
However, despite the Met office issuing a red alert and heavy rains disrupting normal life, the schools were open. It is to be noted that Solan Deputy Commissioner Man Mohan Sharma had issued an advisory asking people to stay away from rivers and nallahs, and urging parents not to send their wards to schools if they have to cross rivers and nallahs enroute.
Roads were closed in Bilaspur district as well due to multiple landslides.
The weather department on Monday morning cautioned of moderate to high flash-flood risk in parts of seven districts -- including Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur -- in the next 24 hours.
It has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rains in parts of Himachal Pradesh for Wednesday and predicted a wet spell in the hill state till July 6.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms lashed Palampur, Baijnath, Sundernagar, Murari Devi, Kangra, Shimla and its adjoining area of Jubberhatti.
Moderate to heavy rains lashed several parts of the state. Pandoh was the wettest, recording 123 mm rainfall since Sunday evening. This was followed by Mandi 119.4 mm, Murari Devi 113.2 mm, Palampur 83 mm, Ghaghas 65.4 mm, Bharari 65.2 mm, Kasauli 64 mm, Nadaun 63 mm, Slapper 62.8 mm, Dharampur 56.6 mm and Sujanpur Tira 53 mm.

These people are feared to have been swept away following cloudbursts and flash floods in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra and Kullu districts on Wednesday.
So far, five bodies have been recovered from a hydro project site in the Kangra district that was hit by flash floods on Wednesday while the search for three missing people is on. The teams are also searching for three persons who went missing at Rehla Bihal in the Kullu district after a cloudburst, officials said.
Lovely from the Chamba district, whom the search teams rescued from a forest near the project site, said there were 13 people in the camp, of which five ran towards the hills while the remaining were swept by the gushing waters.
"We saw the floods coming and screamed to alert the people below before running to safety," Daya Kishan, a labourer, said.
The project work had been suspended due to rain, and the workers were resting in temporary shelters near the site when floodwaters from Manuni Khad and nearby drains diverted towards them, sweeping several away, the officials said.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Commandant Baljinder Singh maintained that they are trying to trace the people feared to have been swept away from the project site.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA from Dharamshala Sudhir Sharma alleged that shelters were built near a stream, and not shifting labourers to safer areas when the weather deteriorated pointed towards negligence, which should be probed.

The body of another person was recovered from a hydroelectric project site in Himachal Pradesh that was hit with flash floods, taking the toll in the incident to three, officials said on Thursday.
While the bodies are yet to be identified, search operations were intensified on Thursday to find the eight persons still missing since flash floods were triggered by cloudbursts in Kangra and Kullu districts on Wednesday.
Two bodies were recovered on Wednesday in Kangra while another was recovered on Thursday.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) commandant Baljinder Singh said they are trying to trace five people who are feared to have been swept away from the project site during the floods.
Three more people are yet to be traced at Rehla Bihal in Kullu district.
Two persons were confirmed to have died and about 15-20 workers were feared swept away at a labour colony near the Indira Priyadarshini Hydroelectric project site following a surge in water level in Manuni Khad in Khaniyara village on Wednesday evening.
Since then, some of the missing people have since been rescued. Authorities have not clarified the number of people rescued.
NDRF commandant Singh said that joint search teams of NDRF, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police and home guards are on the job, though tough topography and bad weather are acting as a disturbance.
Another person who was last known to have fled to a nearby hill to save himself during the floods at the site has been found, officials said.
Some of the missing people hail from Nurpur and Chamba areas of Himachal Pradesh and others from Uttar Pradesh.
BJP national president J P Nadda expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the workers who were swept away due to a sudden increase in water flow in Manuni Khad.
"In this hour of crisis, every BJP worker is dedicated to providing all possible help to the citizens of Devbhoomi. I pray to God to give peace to the departed souls and provide strength to the bereaved families," he said in a statement issued here.
Dharamshala BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma who reached the spot on Thursday said the project site was 1 km from his village. He said he received a call on Wednesday that the water level had surged and 15-20 people had been swept away.
Sharma said that building sheds for labourers near the drain, and not shifting them when the weather deteriorated to safe areas amounts to negligence and an investigation should be initiated.
Besides, alleging lapses by authorities in ensuring the safety of workers, Sharma raised serious concerns about the negligence of the contractor and the project officials.
He claimed the actual damage to life and property is far greater than what is being reported and only the labour contractor can provide accurate information about the number of missing workers.
All other workers associated with the project have been relocated to a safe area. As of last night, around 250-275 workers were employed at the site, and all have been provided temporary shelter at Ambedkar Bhawan in Khaniyara, officials said.
The MLA also demanded adequate compensation to the family of the deceased.
According to officials, the project work had been suspended due to the rain, and the workers were resting in temporary shelters near the site when floodwaters from Manuni Khad and nearby drains diverted towards the labour colony, sweeping several of them away.
Three people, , including a 14-year-old, at Rehla Bihal in Kullu district who were swept away in the deluge while trying to take away valuables from their homes are still missing and a search is going on to find them.
Deputy Commissioner Torul S Ravesh said the NDRF has joined the rescue operation in Kullu. She said while the monsoon is an annual feature that tourists can enjoy safely, they should avoid going to low-lying areas and river beds.
Flash floods were also reported from Manali and Banjar in the district. Heavy rains have caused massive damage in Sainj, Gadsa and Hornagad areas that come under the Banjar assembly constituency in Kullu.
Banjar MLA Surinder Shauri who visited the affected parts said the main road is blocked in Hornagad and electricity and water supply has been disrupted in the village.
Shauri directed the officials of the revenue department to provide relief to those affected by the floods.&nbsp;
