Sikkim has reported 15 COVID-19 cases since May 29, state Health minister G T Dhungel said on Wednesday.
He said 526 samples were tested since May 29, of which 15 tested positive for COVID-19 at STNM Hospital, Gangtok.
The Health minister said that wearing masks and use of sanitisers has been made mandatory along with following COVID protocols in all state-run medical facilities in the state.
Dhungel said that all hospitals and health centres in the state have already established separate COVID facilities with adequate beds, oxygen cylinders and medical equipment. He also that specialised manpower to deal with COVID cases has also been constituted.
The minister asked the people of the state that there was no need to panic and to follow COVID-19 protocols.
"Prevention is better than cure and we urge all citizens to remain safe by following the laid down guidelines by the Centre and state agencies. We can tackle this communicable and contagious disease with awareness," he said.
The minister also said that the Health department will immediately start organising COVID awareness camps throughout the state.

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on the Covid situation, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is set to meet with his counterparts from state governments.
Mandaviya's meeting with state and Union Territory health ministers on 23 December 2022 comes a day after he made a suo motu statement in Parliament on the pandemic situation.
"We are constantly monitoring the situation. There are no direct flights between China and India but people come via other routes," he said.
He said the focus is to ensure that no unknown variant of the virus enters India and at the same time there is no impediment to travelling.

The Union Health Ministry asked the Civil Aviation Ministry to ensure random post-arrival Covid testing of two per cent of arriving passengers in each international flight at airports from December 24, to minimize the risk of ingress of any new variant of coronavirus in the country.

Eight cases of monkeypox have been reported so far in India and a national task force has been set up to monitor the development of diagnostics and vaccines, Health Minister Mansukh Madaviya said on Tuesday.
Replying to queries in Rajya Sabha during Question Hour, he informed the members about the various steps being taken to prevent the spread of the disease, and to develop testing kits and vaccines.
Till date eight cases of the disease have been detected in India, out of which five have foreign travel history, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare said.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has successfully isolated the monkeypox virus and an expression of interest has been floated for research institutions, vaccine and diagnostic kits manufacturers in India to take the virus strain for further research to develop a vaccine in the country, he added.
The minister was replying to a supplementary question.
In a written reply to a question on measures and preventive action initiated by the government, the minister said, "A national task force on monkeypox disease has been constituted to monitor the development of diagnostics and vaccines for the management of monkeypox disease." Airport and port health officers have been instructed to remain vigilant and undertake rigorous health screening of incoming international passengers.
The minister said the National Institute of Virology, Pune under ICMR has been designated as a referral laboratory for testing suspected cases. In addition, 15 other ICMR-VRDL (Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory) network laboratories have been optimised to undertake diagnostic testing for monkeypox disease.
He said central teams have been deployed, on the detection of confirmed cases, to the affected districts to assist in control and containment efforts by state authorities.
In response to another supplementary question, Mandaviya said the government has relied on the experience of tackling COVID-19, to be alert and prepared in advance to prevent the spread of any disease.
He said when the disease was first reported globally in May, India had already started preparing to tackle it.
While the first case in India was reported from Kerala on July 14, the minister said much before that on May 1, 2022 the Centre had given guidelines to all states, and not just for international airports, on surveillance mechanism and contact tracing, how to collect samples from suspected cases and sending it to recognised laboratories for testing.
With the disease spreading only through close and deep contacts, he said no specific community is at risk and the government has taken up steps to create awareness about common symptoms, reporting of suspected cases and prevention from the disease.
Mandaviya said WHO has reported 18,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox globally from 78 countries and five deaths till July 27, 2022.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan took to Twitter on Friday to advise people on ways to detect and manage Mucormycosis, commonly known as Black Fungus. &nbsp;Black Fungus has been reported in a number of coronavirus patients, especially in Maharashtra.

Health Minister tweets ways to manage Black Fungus as cases rise

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan took to Twitter on Friday to advise people on ways to detect and manage Mucormycosis, commonly known as Black Fungus. &nbsp;Black Fungus has been reported in a number of coronavirus patients, especially in Maharashtra.&nbsp;There could be over 2,000 mucormycosis patients in Maharashtra&nbsp;alone.
The minister said in his tweet that &lsquo;awareness and early diagnosis can help curb the spread of the fungal infection&rsquo;. He shared four slides on Black Fungus, its symptoms and required action once someone contracts the infection.

Covid19 cases might see a surge in India during winters, says Harsh Vardhan&nbsp;

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan Sunday hinted that India may see an increase in the&nbsp;Covid-19&nbsp;transmission rate during winter. The Minister&rsquo;s comments came in the backdrop of several reports which indicated that&nbsp;coronavirus&nbsp;cases will surge in the colder weather since respiratory illnesses tend to thrive during cooler weather conditions.&nbsp;Addressing his weekly social media interaction programme Sunday Samvaad, Vardhan stated that SARS-CoV-2&mdash;which causes Covid-19 infection&mdash; is a respiratory virus and the transmission of respiratory viruses is known to increase in the colder weather.

He added that it was a cause for concern for the state govt as they are looking to increase bed capacity as much as possible. Jain said, the state govt doesn't want a situation where if the occupancy increases, there's a crisis.
On the specifics of the third sero survey in Delhi, Jain said, the sero survey was started on September 1 and results will be out in the next 10 days.
