The Haryana Chief Secretary T.V.S.N Prasad Wednesday reviewed the preparedness for the heatwave of summer 2024 and the arrangements for the general Lok Sabha elections, along with the by-election to the Karnal assembly constituency, with the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of the state.

Crores, drugs totaling ₹8.02 Crores, precious metals worth ₹1.73 Crores, and freebies valued at ₹1.33 Crores. Mr. Prasad directed the officers to maintain strict vigilance over such activities.

The plant, with a capital outlay of Rs 542 crore, will be set up in a phased manner over the next five years, with the first phase expected to be commissioned in the second quarter of FY26, Uno Minda said in a statement.

Law enforcement agencies have seized about Rs 14 crore worth of drugs, liquor and unaccounted-for cash in Haryana since the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections came into effect last month, officials said on Tuesday.
Until Sunday, illicit liquor and drugs worth more than Rs 10.50 crore and Rs 3.62 crore in cash have been seized, they added.
Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal said the action has been taken by police, Income Tax department, Excise and Taxation department and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.
Polling for Haryana's 10 Lok Sabha seats will be held in the sixth phase on May 25.

"As against this, during the past 10 years, Modi has brought smiles on the faces of the poor," said Saini.

A team of the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested Naresh Kumar Goyal, joint registrar of the cooperation department, from Panchkula on charges of corruption.
The accused was arrested by the ACB team in connection with the alleged multi-crore rupee scam that was unearthed in the department recently, said an official statement.
It said the case had come to the ACB for investigation and several arrests have already been made in the case so far.
"Naresh Kumar Goyal is accused of embezzling crores of rupees of government money along with his co-accused," it said, adding that further investigations are on.
The ACB claimed that it had recently busted major irregularities in the Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP) and said 14 persons, including 10 senior officers and four private individuals, were arrested for their involvement in the alleged scam.
Some assistant registrars and district registrars of the cooperative societies colluded with an auditor and misappropriated funds for personal gain, an official statement had said earlier. They misused the government funds deposited in official accounts to purchase flats, land, and other assets and further attempted to cover their footprints by forging government documents and bank details.&nbsp;

Eight people have been arrested for allegedly duping people on the pretext of earning through online gaming prize money and investment opportunities, police said on Tuesday.
The cybercrime racket was busted following a tipoff-based raid on Monday night in the Sector 52 area here, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime, Priyanshu Dewan said.
He said 28 mobile-phones and three laptops were also seized.
The accused would lure people on the pretext of providing them higher prize money through online games and opportunities to invest their earnings from gaming in different companies, according to police.
Sunil Kumar (42), the kingpin of the gang, Pawan (24), Arshdeep (27), Tarun (20), Parasdeep (19), Deepak, Himanshu (20), residents of Haryana, and Rajender (37), a native of Jammu and Kashmir, have been arrested.
"The fraud racket was being run by Sunil alias Sonu along with his associates. The investigation so far has revealed that a member of this racket also runs such illegal activities from Sri Lanka," Dewan said.
"Sunil, the kingpin of the racket, hired his associates on a salary and commission basis. He also gave them two per cent as a bonus from the defrauded amount. The racket was being run for the past one year," he said.

A team of the Election Commission of India (ECI) held a meeting with the senior officials of the Haryana government to review the election arrangements for Lok Sabha polls in the state.
The five-member team was led by Deputy Chief Election Commissioner Hirdesh Kumar.
The meeting on Monday was chaired by Haryana Chief Secretary T V S N Prasad, according to an official release.
Polling for the ten Lok Sabha seats in Haryana will be held in the sixth phase of elections on May 25.
During the meeting in which Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur was also present, Chief Secretary Prasad said that no stone will be left unturned to conduct free and fair elections in the state.
Prasad said that to conduct impartial and peaceful elections in the state, Haryana has requested 200 companies of central security forces from the ECI, out of which 15 have already arrived.
He stated that 19,810 polling stations will be set up in the state, equipped with all basic facilities. Additionally, all polling stations have been inspected by the respective district election officers, he said.
In this meeting, Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer, Anurag Agarwal informed the Election Commission team that special arrangements have been made for physically challenged voters and those aged 85 years and above.
Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Health and Family Welfare Department, Sudhir Rajpal, ACS Finance Department, Anurag Rastogi, besides other senior officers from different departments were also present

He also appealed to political parties and contesting candidates to regularly monitor SVEEP activities and raise awareness among people about its importance in democracy, where every vote matters.

The Chief Electoral Officer stated that a maximum of 35 election booths have been established in 22 societies under the 76 Badshahpur assembly constituency, while 16 booths have been set up in 8 societies of the 77 Gurgaon assembly constituency. &nbsp;Apart from this, one booth has been installed in one society of the 78 Sohna assembly constituency.
He said that the Election Commission has issued 1950 helpline numbers for the convenience of voters, and information about violations of the Model Code of Conduct related to voting can also be provided to the department.
He also appealed to political parties and contesting candidates to regularly monitor SVEEP activities and raise awareness among people about its importance in democracy, where every vote matters.
