Composer-actor GV Prakash Kumar and playback singer Saindhavi announced their decision to end their 11-year marriage. In a joint statement on social media, they cited the need for &lsquo;mental peace and betterment&rsquo; and requested privacy during this &lsquo;deeply personal transition.&rsquo;
&lsquo;After much reflection, Saindhavi and I have decided to part ways after 11 years of marriage. For the sake of our mental peace and betterment while preserving our mutual respect for each other,&rsquo; the statement issued by Prakash read.
&lsquo;We kindly ask the Media, friends and fans to understand and respect our privacy during this deeply personal transition. Acknowledging that we are growing apart, we believe this is the best decision for each other. Your understanding and support means a lot during this difficult time,&rsquo; it added.
Prakash and Saindhavi, who were classmates, tied the knot on June 27, 2013, after a ten-year romance, according to a FilmiBeat report. Their wedding, held at Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Hall in Chennai, was attended by many celebrities, including filmmaker Mani Ratnam. The couple's daughter was born on April 19, 2020, as reported by The Hindu.

Prakash, the son of G Venkatesh and playback singer AR Reihana, who is the sister of Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, began his film industry journey at age six. He lent his voice to a track composed by Rahman for the 1993 film &lsquo;Thiruda Thiruda&rsquo; and later worked as a child artist with Rahman on many subsequent projects.
Prakash gained fame by singing &lsquo;Kadhal Yaanai,&rsquo; composed by Harris Jayaraj, for S Shankar&rsquo;s blockbuster Anniyan (2005). The film also marked Saindhavi's Tamil playback singing debut with the song &lsquo;Andangaka Kondakari.&rsquo;
Prakash debuted as a music composer in Vasanthabalan&rsquo;s Veyil (2006) and has since composed tracks for many hit movies like Polladhavan, Angaadi Theru, Aayirathil Oruvan, Aadukalam, Udhayam NH4, Thalaivaa, Raja Rani, and Asuran. He made his acting debut in the lead role of the horror comedy Darling (2015).
Saindhavi has collaborated with renowned composers in her career, including AR Rahman, Vidyasagar, Yuvan Shankar Raja, D Imman, Sharreth, Sam CS, and Anirudh Ravichander.
