Pankaj Udhas' family shared an official statement on social media. The statement read, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness.”

Veteran singer Pankaj Udhas passed away at the age of 73. The news of &lsquo;Chithi aayi hai&rsquo; singer&rsquo;s demise was confirmed by his daughter Nayaab Udhas in an official statement. The singer was suffering with prolonged illness and breathed his last on February 26. &nbsp;
Family's statement
The family shared an official statement on social media. The statement read, &ldquo;With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness.&rdquo;&nbsp;
The singer is survived by his wife Farida Udhas and two daughters: Nayaab and Reva.&nbsp;
Condolences pour in&nbsp;
As the nation was left in shock, tributes poured in for the late singer. Fans expressed their condolences in the comments. Many fans wrote that they couldn&rsquo;t believe that the melodious voice has bid adieu forever. &nbsp;
Ghazal Maestro leaves a legacy behind&nbsp;
In a career panning across decades, the singer has given several melodious ghazals and songs. Udhas started his career in 80s but rose to fame with &lsquo;Chitthi aayi hai&rsquo; in 1986. He then went on to singer several super hit songs like &lsquo;Chandi Jaisa Rang&rsquo;, &lsquo;Chhupana bhi nahi aata&rsquo;, &lsquo;Jeeyein to Jeeyein Kaise&rsquo; and many more.
Awards and accolades
Pankaj Udhas was awarded Padmashree in 2006. Besides, the legend had many prestigious awards to his credit including Filmfare award for Best Male Playback singer, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

What if the controversy embroiled song 'Besharam Rang' was a ghazal. Well, a social media user has actually made it possible.
Soumya Mukherjee, who identifies himself as a composer, singer and music producer has sung the song as a ghazal and now the internet cannot keep calm. They have in fact asked the singer to release a full ghazal version of 'Besharam Rang.'&nbsp;
The December 20 clip shows Mukhejee singing the song with classical music in the background.&nbsp; Playing the initial bit from the song, Mukherjee in his clip asked if the peppy track was a ghazal.
The reprise of Shahrukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer upcoming movie 'Pathaan' has certainly impressed netizens with many wishing the original version to be a ghazal.

Assamese singer Abhishruti Bezbaruah performs special cover of legendary Ghazal in Indian Sign Language 

The emotion of music: 'Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo' performed for hearing impaired 

The emotions conveyed by Fayyaz Hashmi’s ‘Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo’ are universal. They fall beyond the purview of language, and that’s exactly what this cover of the song is showing us.  

The Ghazal made famous by the legendary Farida Khanum, has been presented by singer Abhishruti Bezbaruah in Indian Sign Language for the hearing impaired. This is among the first times that the song has been presented in such a manner.  


Before this too Abhishruti has ventured down unchartered paths with songs on the lives of transgender persons, along with working on films such as Highway, Viceroy’s House and The Second Best Exotic Marigold hotel.  


In order to perform this special version of the Ghazal, she also underwent training for Indian Sign Language.
