The owner of the famous <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/baba-ka-dhaba-owner-opens-restaurant-in-delhi-s-malviya-nagar-1608615868221" target="_blank">"Baba Ka Dhaba"&nbsp;in south Delhi&rsquo;s Malviya Nagar </a>area, was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital on Thursday night following a suicide bid.
80-year-old Kanta&nbsp;Prasad&nbsp;had consumed alcohol and sleeping pills and the hospital in its report said that he was unconscious.&nbsp;His wife informed the police that he had been depressed for the last few days
His wife also said that Prasad had to close the restaurant he opened in December last year and went back to his old roadside stall as the cost of running the new establishment was around ₹1 lakh while his income was only about ₹30,000.
in 2020, Kanta Prasad and his wife shot to overnight fame after&nbsp;<a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/baba-ka-dhaba-owner-accuses-youtuber-of-collecting-funds-1604283106738" target="_blank">YouTuber Gaurav Wasan</a> shot a video&nbsp;of the eatery and appealed to his followers to help the couple who were struggling to earn a livelihood.&nbsp;
The video was shared thousands of times on social media and several celebrities joined the appeal to urge Delhi residents to support Kanta Prasad. But Prasad&nbsp;says&nbsp;people came in only to take selfies and his sales had not picked up due to the video.

The 80-year-old owner of 'Baba Ka Dhaba' has inaugurated his restaurant in Malviya Nagar, the area where his roadside food stall was located. Speaking to news agency ANI, he said Indian and Chinese cuisines will be served at his restaurant.
Located in Delhi's Malviya Nagar, <a title="Baba Ka Dhaba" href="https://www.editorji.com/story/baba-ka-dhaba-owner-accuses-youtuber-of-collecting-funds-1604283106738" target="_blank" >Baba Ka Dhaba</a> is a small eatery operated by an elderly couple - Kanta Prasad and his wife Badami Devi - since the last 30 years. Kanta Prasad's story went viral in October as hundreds flocked to his food stall to help him.
Food blogger Gaurav Wasan visited Baba Ka Dhaba earlier in October and posted a clip of it on his Instagram account. In the short video, Kanta Prasad broke down in tears as he narrated his plight of the difficulties that he faced while running the eatery in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
