Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his "productive" visit to Canada on Tuesday after attending the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, where he held high-level meetings, addressed pressing global concerns, and called for stronger international action against terrorism.
He now travels to Croatia, the third and final stop on his three-nation tour.

In Kananaskis, Prime Minister Modi participated in the G7 Outreach Session and engaged in wide-ranging discussions with global leaders.

During his address at the summit, the Prime Minister made a strong pitch against global terrorism, stressing that countries supporting such activities must face consequences. "For global peace and prosperity, our thought and policy must be clear - if any country supports terrorism, it will have to pay the price for it," he said. He further pointed out inconsistencies in international responses: "On one hand, we are quick to impose all kinds of sanctions based on our own preferences. On the other hand, countries that openly support terrorism are rewarded."
Reaffirming India&rsquo;s tough stance, the MEA spokesperson noted, "PM reiterated India&rsquo;s stand against terrorism &amp; thanked the leaders for condemning the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack. He urged them to galvanize global action against terrorism &amp; underlined the need to take strict action against those who promote &amp; support terrorism." The April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, had claimed 26 lives and prompted India to launch Operation Sindoor targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Modi also called for amplifying the voices of developing nations. "Moving forward on the fundamental principles of availability, accessibility, affordability, acceptability, India has chosen the path of inclusive development," he said. He underlined India&rsquo;s commitment to sustainability and energy equity through initiatives like the International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, and the Global Biofuels Alliance.
"AI, itself, is an energy-intensive technology. If there is any way to sustainably fulfill the energy requirements of a technology-driven society, it is through renewable energy," he said, adding, "we will have to cooperate for technology" in the 21st century rather than compete for energy as in the past. The Prime Minister also cautioned against the misuse of AI: "Deep-fake is a cause of great concern. Therefore, water-marking or clear declaration should be made on AI-generated content."
In addition to the Summit sessions, Modi met with several key leaders including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, French President Emmanuel Macron, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Talks focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, trade, and technological innovation.
During his conversation with Carney, Modi noted the importance of strengthening India-Canada ties: the relationship between the two countries is "extremely important", and both should "work together to achieve win-win cooperation in various sectors." As a step towards restoring normalcy in diplomatic services, India and Canada agreed to designate new high commissioners to resume regular services for citizens and businesses.
This marked Prime Minister Modi's first visit to Canada in a decade, arriving from Cyprus on Monday. Sharing a photo with G7 and invited leaders on X, he wrote, "Together for global progress! Productive exchanges with G7 leaders on key global challenges and shared aspirations for a better planet." The MEA spokesperson echoed the sentiment, writing: "A collective commitment to addressing global challenges &amp; promoting common values."
As he departs for Croatia, Modi leaves behind a strong impression of India&rsquo;s growing voice on global platforms and its readiness to shape collective responses to terrorism, technology, and sustainable development.

At a crucial summit in Canada, G7 leaders vowed increased support for Ukraine but avoided a joint condemnation of Russia, as Donald Trump focused on trade disputes and mediation hopes with Putin.

Group of Seven leaders on Tuesday vowed greater support for Ukraine but stopped short of joint condemnation of Russia for its growing attacks, at a summit missing Donald Trump.
The US president had been due to speak at the G7 summit with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, with whom he has had a volatile relationship, but flew back Monday over the Israel-Iran conflict.
Zelensky met the remaining leaders at a remote lodge in the Canadian Rockies hours after Russia hit Kyiv with one of the worst bombardments since it invaded in February 2022, killing at least 10 people in the capital.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney welcomed Zelensky and announced Can$2 billion ($1.47bn) of military support, including drones and helicopters, for Ukraine.
But the G7 summit stopped short of issuing a joint statement, unlike in past years under Trump's predecessor Joe Biden when the club of major industrial democracies denounced Russian "aggression."
A Canadian official, backtracking on an earlier account of the United States trying to water down a proposed statement, said there was never an attempt to issue one due to Trump's continued hopes of mediating with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"It was clear that it would not have been feasible to find detailed language that all G7 partners could agree to in that context," the official said on condition of anonymity.
Carney dismissed suggestions of friction, saying that all G7 leaders agreed to be "resolute in exploring all options to maximize pressure on Russia, including financial sanctions."
But he admitted that some G7 leaders "would say above and beyond" what was in the chair's summary he issued instead of a formal statement signed by all leaders.
G7 leaders, however, managed unity Monday on a joint statement on the Iran conflict that backed Israel but also called broadly for de-escalation, despite Trump contemplating greater US military involvement.
 - US waits on pressure -
Carney earlier joined Britain in tightening sanctions on Russia's so-called shadow fleet of ships used to circumvent international sanctions on its oil sales.
"These sanctions strike right at the heart of Putin's war machine, choking off his ability to continue his barbaric war in Ukraine," Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a statement.
US lawmakers have drafted a package of new sanctions on Russia but Trump has been hesitant to give his support and isolate Putin, to whom he spoke by telephone on the eve of the G7 summit.
Trump infamously berated Zelensky in the Oval Office on February 28, saying he was ungrateful for US aid, but has since voiced disappointment that Putin has rebuffed a US proposal for at least a temporary ceasefire.
Zelensky told Carney the latest Russian attack showed the need for allies' support and pressure on Moscow -- while making clear that he still backed Trump-led calls for negotiations.
"It's important for our soldiers to be strong in the battlefield, to stay strong until Russia will be ready for the peace negotiations," said Zelensky, who cut short meetings in Canada scheduled after the summit.
French President Emmanuel Macron accused his Russian counterpart of exploiting global focus on the Middle East to carry out the deadly attack.
"It shows the complete cynicism of President Putin," Macron told reporters at the summit.
In Washington, the State Department also condemned the Russian strikes and offered condolences to the victims' families.
 - Tough trade talks -
The G7 -- Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States -- was holding its first summit since the re-election of Trump, who openly questions longstanding US alliances.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent remained to represent the United States at the summit, where discussions have also concentrated on Trump's attempts to radically overhaul the world's trading system.
Trump has vowed to slap sweeping tariffs on friends and foes alike on July 9, although he has postponed them once.
The US president, speaking to reporters on his way back from the summit, complained that the European Union was not yet offering a "fair deal" on trade.
"We're either going to make a good deal or they'll just pay whatever we say they will pay," he said.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she still hoped for a negotiated solution and talks were "intense and demanding."
Trump's negotiators have already sealed a deal with Britain and, outside of the G7, reached an agreement to lower tariffs with rival China.

Amidst severe strain in bilateral ties, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Saturday that there was a commitment to work together with India to deal with some &ldquo;very important issues&rdquo; after he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.
Modi had posted an image on social media of the two leaders shaking hands on Friday, with a one-liner saying &ldquo;met Canadian PM Justin Trudeau at the G7 Summit&rdquo;.
The meeting which took place on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Apulia, southern Italy, is the first amid strained diplomatic relations over pro-Khalistani extremism after Trudeau alleged that Canadian authorities are &ldquo;actively pursuing credible allegations" related to Indian government involvement in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a designated terrorist.
The Canadian allegations from last year were strongly rejected by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) as &ldquo;absurd and motivated&rdquo;.
"I'm not going to get into the details of this important, sensitive issue that we need to follow up, but this was a commitment to work together, in the coming times, to deal with some very important issues," Trudeau told reporters at a press conference in Savelletri Di Fasano in Italy on Saturday, the concluding day of the three-day G7 Summit.
The last meeting between the two leaders happened on the sidelines of the G20 Summit hosted by India in September.
Soon after the meeting on Friday evening, the Canadian Prime Minister's Office said the leaders had a "brief discussion on the bilateral relationship", during which Trudeau also congratulated Modi on his re-election.
"Of course, there are important issues between our two countries right now. You can appreciate that we won't be making any further statements at this time," spokesperson Ann-Clara Vaillancourt was quoted by the Canadian Press news agency as saying.
India has been maintaining that the main issue between the two countries is that of Canada giving space to pro-Khalistan elements operating from Canadian soil with impunity.
India has repeatedly conveyed its "deep concerns" to Canada and New Delhi expects Ottawa to take strong action against those elements.
Nijjar's murder is being probed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Four Indian nationals have been arrested in this connection by the RCMP.
Modi's meeting with Trudeau came at the end of a packed day of bilateral meetings for the Prime Minister, including with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Japanese PM Fumio Kishida, German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni &ndash; the host of the summit. He also had discussions with other world leaders gathered for the summit, including with US President Joe Biden.
Prime Minister Modi joined leaders of Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Jordan, Kenya, Mauritania, Tunisia, Turkiye, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to address the Outreach session on Artificial Intelligence, Energy, Africa and the Mediterranean, along with Pope Francis, on the invitation of Meloni.

US President Joe Biden and the leaders of Italy, Britain, France, Germany, Canada and Japan on Thursday began two days of summit talks in Puglia, southern Italy.

G7 leaders agreed at a summit in Italy Thursday on a new $50-billion loan for Ukraine using profits from frozen Russian assets, a US official said.
"We have political agreement at the highest levels for this deal," a senior Biden administration official said on condition of anonymity.
"And it is $50 billion this year that will be committed to Ukraine."
US President Joe Biden and the leaders of Italy, Britain, France, Germany, Canada and Japan on Thursday began two days of summit talks in Puglia, southern Italy.
Increasing support for Ukraine -- now in the third year of its war with Russia -- was top of the agenda, with President Volodymyr Zelensky joining for a special session Thursday.
The EU agreed earlier this year to help Kyiv using the profits from the interest on Russian central bank assets frozen by Western allies.
But the US has been pushing for more and faster help through a massive upfront loan -- although it was not clear who would issue the money, and who covered the risk.
The US was willing to provide up to $50 billion, the official said Thursday, but said its contribution could be "significantly less" as it would be a shared initiative.
"We will not be the only lenders. This will be a loan syndicate. We're going to share the risk, because we have a shared commitment to get this done," the official said.
He would not say how much other G7 countries would contribute, beyond saying that the final summit statement in Puglia would speak of "loans plural".
<h3>Show unity</h3>
The G7 countries -- which count the European Union as their unofficial eighth member -- have been Ukraine's key military and financial backers since Russia invaded in February 2022.
"Today the G7 in Bari will show unity. Unity for Ukraine's freedom," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote earlier on X.
Germany's finance minister, Christian Lindner, added: "Good news from the G7: another $50 billion for Ukraine."
He said it showed Russian President Vladimir Putin our "unity, greatly helps Ukraine and relieves the burden on budgets" -- but confirmed the details still needed working out.
French President Emmanuel Macron's office has also said there was agreement, without providing details.
Zelensky, who was due to hold a joint press conference with Biden later Thursday, has been engaged in a flurry of diplomacy aimed at boosting international support.
He spoke earlier this week in Berlin at a reconstruction conference and is set to join more than 90 countries and organisations this weekend for a peace summit in Switzerland.
Zelensky said he would sign two more security agreements with Japan and the United States in Puglia.
The G7 and the EU have frozen some 300 billion euros ($325 billion) of Russian assets, much of it frozen by Euroclear, an international deposit organisation based in Belgium.
EU countries say they could generate between 2.5 and 3.0 billion euros per year for Kyiv from the profits on the interest.
<h3>Irreplaceable role</h3>
The summit comes at a time of extraordinary global turmoil.
Apart from the conflict in Ukraine, the Hamas-Israel conflict is raging and economic tensions are rising between China and Western countries.
Many G7 countries are also in political flux. Everyone in Puglia is aware this could be Biden's last G7 summit if he loses to Donald Trump in November US elections.
Britain's Rishi Sunak is tipped to be ousted in July 4 elections, while France's Macron and Germany's Olaf Scholz are both under pressure after gains by the far right in EU elections last weekend.
By contrast, meeting host Giorgia Meloni, Italy's prime minister, is riding high after her far-right party topped European Parliament elections last weekend.
Meloni laughed and joked with her G7 counterparts as she welcomed them among the olive trees of the luxury Borgo Egnazia resort, and took a selfie with reporters.
But she had a serious message.
"The Group of Seven in recent decades has assumed an irreplaceable role in the management of global crises, especially those that jeopardise our freedom and our democracy," she told an opening session.
The talks began with short session on Africa, development and climate change, before turning to the Middle East.
The G7 leaders have already announced their support for a Gaza truce deal outlined by Biden, which would also see the release of hostages taken in Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel.
Another key issue in Puglia, to be discussed Friday, will be concerns about China's so-called "industrial overcapacity", particularly in green energy and technology sectors such as solar panels and electric vehicles.
